Basic Legendary Farming Tidbit
Legendary enemies spawn based on a set of conditions
Player level is the first check. There are a series of thresholds for legendary enemy spawn chances.
less than or equal to level 5 -> no legendary enemies will spawn (except scripted events)
less than or equal to level 20 -> base 10% chance of legendary enemy spawning
less than or equal to level 30 -> base 12% chance of legendary enemy spawning
less than or equal to level 40 -> base 15% chance of legendary enemy spawning
less than or equal to level 50 -> base 18% chance of legendary enemy spawning
over level 50 -> base 20% chance of legendary enemy spawning
Game difficulty is another modifier in legendary enemy spawn chance. When an encounter is generated, your base legendary spawn chance (based on player level) is multiplied by a fixed number directly associated with the difficulty you are playing on. There are a lot of numbers floating around on the internet for these modifiers, but the settings in the game files are as follows.
Very Easy: .25
Easy: .5
Normal: 1
Hard: 1.25
Very Hard: 1.5
Survival (the new survival, not launch survival): 1.5
if you are level 15, and you kill a level 9 legendary ghoul roamer, it will never spawn a flamer (level requirement 15) because the ghoul is too low level. Alternatively, if you are level 10, and you somehow manage to find a level 67 BOS star paladin, it will still be spawning crappy pipe weaponry and raider armor. It won’t spawn high level legendary loot like gatling lasers and heavy combat armor because the player’s level is too low.
How Soon Do Enemy Respawn? Normally it takes only 3 days for them to see new enemies in a location they’d previously cleared, though the game files state that it is 7 days for outdoors, and 20 days for [Cleared] areas to reset. This means the area inside a cleared zone will respawn faster than the loot outside however the area that i discover does not follow this instead it will respawn base on how further the player is this means you can reset the encounter as much as you like provided you are willing to walk a few distance each time to reset it.
The Farming Location and How to Reset It.
Head Over to nuka world, the area is located north west of Galactic Zone outside walls.
This area is a random encounter that usually have 2 different faction fighting each other with a good chance to have 2 legendary enemy one for each side.
Once you have defeated the enemies you must walk a certain amount away from the area for it to be reset.
Follow the red line path that will lead you on to a road
Once you reach behind this buss you will see a building, Head towards it
Exit The building made your way back to farming area as it will reset after you have made it this far
The loot i manage to came across without cheating being level 61 reaching to level 112
Yellow Circle is the farm location, Green is the path to reset the spawn location and Red is the landmark Fizztop Grille Overboss safe house.
If your character has the level 4 fortune finder be sure to collect the caps on the ground and if you pick a loot and drop it out of your inventory make sure to pick it up not doing so will prevent the cell from resetting.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting
