You have iGPU and graphical gliches preventing you from enjoying the game? Well, if you’re here, then probably yes. Here I will describe all the ways that helped me reduce the amount of trash on the screen.
Introduction.
So, if you first try to run the remaster, you will be see this:
This means that our iGPU does not support Vulkan API. BUT: we can run the game in DX11 mode!
Right-click on Quake in Library -> Properties, than copy “+r_rhirenderfamily dx11” in the Launch Settings. It should look like this:
But in game you will face with another problem:
What to do?
At first: back to 90s!
Just low all your graphics down!
Looks better, right?
At second:
We need to cap engine FPS to 30.
Copy this in the Launch Settings: “+v_refresh 30 +cl_engineFPS 30 +cl_engineNoSleep 1”
At third (about intro movies):
If intro movies is so annoying for you:
Right-click on Quake in Library -> Local Files -> Browse… -> “rerelease” folder -> “movies” folder
and delete all the .ogv files.
P.S.
The latest addon “Dimension of the Mashine” is unplayable on Intel iGPUs. If you still want to play it, then try running the addon via sourceport, for example Quakespasm or try to cap FPS on 20-25.
Thanks!
