A quick guide made for new or old players struggling with finding their evidence. I hope this helps!
Hello and welcome to my guide on how to make it easier to find evidence! I hope you like my guide about these things as I love to help people with these tips!
My source is the Phasmophobia Wiki, which you should totally check out: https://phasmophobia.fandom.com/wiki/Main_Page – [fandom.com]
The Basics of Finding Fingerprints or Handprints
This first section is all about how to identify Fingerprints and or Handprints. The most common way of finding them are to use a UV Light or Glowstick to see them. You can’t see them with the nak*d eye, but these 2 tools could help. Then there’s the other method. Let’s say you’re inside the house, and you have a photo camera in your inventory. Then you hear a door opening/closing, or a light turning on/off(lamps and such do not count). You can check if there is a fingerprint/handprint by taking a picture of the touched surface. This comes with a risk of using a photo spot in your Journal, but it’s still a good way of identifying the Evidence. If there is a handprint/fingerprint then mark it in your Journal as the “Fingerprints” Evidence. Note that if there are 6 fingers on a handprint then the ghost is an Obake.

The Methods of finding EMF Level 5
Another simple method to use. If you are struggling with finding evidence, and you can’t seem to find a trace of it then this might just work. It is most common to find EMF 5 when a door is touched, objects are thrown or if light-switches are touched. Normally there would come a reading of level 2, but it could be EMF level 5. When the light on your EMF Detector shines to bright red, that means it’s EMF 5.
Another method if you’re worried about dying, then you can use the activity board inside of the van. This method really helps if you’re at low sanity or if you don’t want to go in alone. If the activity is around 10 then it could be a possible EMF reading. However, it could also be a ghost event or a hunt (both depends on if a player is inside). This method is used widely, so take your best guess with this one.
The Art of Hunting Ghost Orbs
You can’t see Ghost Orbs with the nak*d eye, so the only way of seeing them is through a Video Camera. There are 2 methods that you could use. The first one being commonly used by new players is to get a Video Camera (placing it on a Tripod is optional) and getting it into the Ghost room. Place it anywhere you desire, but I recommend to place it in a good range of the room. If there are any Dot projectors inside the room it could be harder to see the Orbs, so you may remove them if you’d like. Then you can head back to the van and look at the camera feed on the monitor and look around for Ghost Orbs. The other method is much simpler but also quite risky. You pick up a Video camera and it should open it’s screen when stepped out of the van. You can use the Right mouse button to toggle night vision which is needed. You walk into the Ghost room and scan around it with night vision. You may stand still to locate the Ghost Orbs faster. Once you find them, mark it in your Journal on the Evidence page.
The Oh-So Fancy DOTS Projector
One of the newest Ghost Hunting tech out there, the Dots projector is a neat and creative tool used to identify ghosts. If the ghost has the specified evidence a Silhouette of the ghost will run through the Dots. This time it can be seen by the nak*d eye, but it’s a lot more harder than viewing it with a Video Camera. There are 2 methods of using it, which are very similar to the Ghost Orb methods. You pick up a Video camera (tripod is recommended, but optional)and a DOTS Projector and go to the Ghost room and find a good spot for the camera. Next you place the DOTS Projector and go back to the van and look for the running silhouettes. The other method is to pick up a Video Camera and a DOTS Projector, go to the Ghost room and place the DOTS projector on any desired surface. Then you get out your Camera and wait for the silhouettes to appear. You can do this without a camera, but it’s a lot harder. I’m not stopping you though. Once you see the ghoul running past, mark the DOTS Projector evidence on the Evidence page in the Journal.
The voices of the Spirit Box
There aren’t that many methods regarding the use of the Spirit Box. Simply turn off all the lights in the ghost room (excluding flashlight) and ask it questions such as “Where are you?”, “Are you close?”, “How old are you?” and the list goes on. You could also walk around the house asking the ghost questions to find the ghost room. Note that if the ghost only responds to people who are alone then you must be alone in the room with the ghost to communicate with the ghost.
Ghost Writing: A Ghost’s Poetry
There aren’t that many methods with the Ghost Writing Book either. Simply place the book on any surface in the room and wait for the Ghost to write in the book. You can see when the ghost writes or has written some of their poetry in your book.
You can take a photo of the Ghost Writing for extra cash with the Photo Camera.
Freezing Temperatures: Winter Comes Early
There actually are some methods for Freezing Temps. To identify Freezing Temps, you should be able to see your own breath coming from your mouth which means it’s Freezing. You can also use the Thermometer (which you can purchase in the item shop) to determine the temperature. It’s identified as Freezing when the thermometer says it’s under 0 (like -1 or lower). I don’t know how to use Fahrenheit, so sorry for those who use that.
