I have prepared this guide for those of you who are going to experience the God of War series for the first time or have already finished it on the PlayStation; but want to finish it with all the achievements once again on the PC. You weren’t going to be alone in this epic adventure of Kratos, were you? In order for the guide to reach more people, the support you will show is very valuable. I wish you all have fun.

First of all, greetings to everyone,

Really tough challenges await you in this legendary adventure of Kratos, which started in Ancient Greek Mythology and continued with Norse Mythology. So, I have prepared this guide in order to contribute a little to your struggle.

This guide, in which I have explained in detail how you can obtain all the achievements in the game, contains spoilers partially as it also includes story achievements. For this reason; If you don’t want to miss any surprises, I suggest you skip the story achievements tab. So you can easily browse through the guide. Also, if you have any questions about the guide or the game, please feel free to add me on Steam as a friend.

God of War has an average story time of 20-25 hours, depending on your gameplay type. Since the game does not contain any ‘missable’ achievements in itself, you can first complete the main story with pleasure, and then easily follow the rest of the achievements.

God of War is a production with 37 achievements in total. 11 of these achievements are completely story-driven. These achievements, which will automatically unlock as you progress through the story, can be a serious ‘spoiler’ source for those who haven’t finished the game yet. For this reason; If you haven’t experienced the game’s story for now, you can choose to skip to the next tab, ‘Exploration’.

The Journey Begins
Defend your home from The Stranger
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock when the first main quest is completed.

A New Friend
Survive the Witch’s Woods
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock during the second main quest.

Allow the Light Elves to return home
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock during the fourth main quest.

Dragon Slayer
Defeat the Dragon of the Mountain
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock when you defeat 'Hraezlyr', a large dragon boss, during the fifth main mission.

Troubling Consequences
Defeat Magni and Modi
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock when you defeat Magni and Modi 'boss' battle during the seventh main mission.

Hello, Old Friend
Retrieve the Blades of Chaos
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock when you pick up the Blades of Chaos during the ninth main mission and clear the first wave of enemies.

Promise Fulfilled
Heal Atreus
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock when the ninth main quest is completed.

Round 2
Rescue Atreus
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock when the eleventh main quest is completed.

Past Haunts

Defeat Baldur
Story related achievement. It will automatically unlock when you defeat the Baldur during the fifteenth main quest.

Story related achievement. It will be unlocked automatically when you complete the sixteenth main quest and finish the game's story. If you want to see the hidden cutscene of the game, it is recommended that you go to your house where you started the game after completing this quest.

Important Note: Although the number of story achievements in the game is ’11’, the achievement you will see below also contains spoilers. That’s why I placed it in this tab as well.

Why Fight It?
Fully upgrade the Blades of Chaos
To get this achievement, you need to upgrade the Blades of Chaos to level five.

How to do?

As any player who has played the old God of War games or is familiar with their story in detail will know, Blades of Chaos’s memory and influence on Kratos is immense. In order to achieve this achievement, we need to bring our old friend to the last level. This achievement is; Just like the Leviathan Axe achievement, it can only be obtained after completing the main story of the game.

The material called ‘Chaos Flames’, which you will obtain when you defeat the enemies we call ‘boss’, which will come across as you progress through the story, allows you to upgrade your swords. When you complete the game’s story, you will have upgraded your swords to the fourth level.

For the fifth and final upgrade; You have to defeat the Valkyrie that will appear in Muspelheim. You will be able to exchange ‘Chaos Flames’ for the ‘Raging Inferno’ you will receive when you defeat Valkyrie and complete all the upgrades of your swords. If you do not know how to encounter the Valkyrie in Muspelheim; I suggest you take a look at third achievement in the ‘God of War’ tab of our guide. Also, the rest of the guide contains a wealth of information about these realms and achievements.

God of War has many locations and elements to explore. The exploration section of the game hosts a total of 332 items. Although I do not have the chance to include all of these items in the guide one by one, I will try to explain them in the most descriptive way. In addition, YouTube videos that may be of great use to you will also be included in the guide.

Beneath the Surface
Explore all the Lake of Nine has to offer
To get this achievement, you must explore the area around the Lake of the Nine and visit each island on the map at least once.

How to do?

First of all, Lake of the Nine is the central region just in the middle of Midgard. You need to visit the 12 regions around this lake in detail. Although you do not need to take any action while visiting these areas, you are requested to get rid of all the fog on your map. If you are already a gamer who scrutinizes every aspect of the game and loves to explore, you will automatically receive this achievement.

Death Happened Here
Fully explore Veithurgard
To get this achievement, you need to enter a temple to the south of Veithurguard and fight a troll we can describe as a 'mini-boss' and open the treasure chest.

How to do?

First of all, Veithurguard is located as a region in the north-eastern corner of the Lake of the Nine, which we just mentioned. As you progress through the story, this area, which you can access in the early stages of the game, is closed by a huge golden gate. Although some users state that all collectable items in Veithurguard must be found for this achievement, some users state that this is not necessary and they get the achievement when they fight the ‘mini-boss’ troll as they reach the end of the area and open the treasure with the key that fell from the troll. Generally speaking, we can say that it has been described as a somewhat ‘problematic’ achievement.

Trilingual
Learn the languages of Muspelheim and Niflheim
To get this achievement, you need to access chests containing the Muspelheim and Niflheim languages. Each language has four chests. This means you need to find eight chests in total. Language chests are available as purple chests with a white face in front that Atreus can open with his dagger.

How to do?

These chests, which we can describe as ‘purple chests’, are abundant in the game. Even though a purple chest can be ‘missed’ during a main quest, you don’t lose anything as it is too many in the game.

Also, unlike other collectibles, we cannot see purple chests on the map. These chests, which do not count towards the 100% completion statistics of the game, allow the relevant area to be unlocked after finding four passwords of each type. If you find all four chests of Muspelheim and Niflheim (eight total), the remaining purple chests will contain upgrade materials instead of passwords.

Dangerous Skies
Free all of the Dragons
To achieve this achievement, you need to liberate total of three dragons in the game.

How to do?

God of War contains a total of three liberate-able dragons, namely Fafnir, Reginn, and Otr. Although trying to save these dragons in the early stages of the game will require quite difficult struggles and progress, they will become tasks that you can comfortably do in the later stages of the game. For this reason; You should not rush for this achievement. When you reach the end of the game and you have developed enough, you will know where to do what and you will already save these dragons.

When you enter a dragon’s territory, that dragon’s side quest will be triggered. The missions consist of destroying three dragon sanctuaries in total. Located as a small stone with a blue rune on it, these shrines are hidden quite close to the dragon’s area. After overcoming all the challenges and destroying all three dragon sanctuaries, you must return to the dragon’s side to unlock and release it.

What region are the dragons in?

➤ Fafnir: Council of Valkyries (North Side of Midgard)

➤ Reginn: Konunsgard (West Side of Midgard)

➤ Otr: Veithurgard (large area located to the North-East of Midgard)

Like Oil and Water
Complete all of Brok and Sindri’s Favors
To get this achievement, you need to complete all of Brok and Sindri's side quests (five in total), which you will encounter multiple times as you progress through the story.

How to do?

Brok and Sindri in Midgard have a total of five side quests. These side characters, which you will encounter as you progress through the story, appear as the dealers and blacksmiths of the game. These characters, which you can visit outside of the main quests, can be found in many points of the game’s map. Brok and Sindri also have two side missions of their own. When you complete four side missions of both characters in total, they wait together at the Tyr temple to give you the last mission.

God of War is a really interesting production in terms of main and side quests. For this reason; I think these five side missions you will do will satisfy you. In addition, while doing these side quests, you open the doors of many achievements. You unlock the side areas that contain plenty of resources, and you gain a lot of items. If you can’t get a new one after completing a side quest, it may mean that you need to progress a little further in the story. Remember, you can access all side quests after completing the game’s story.

Curator
Collect all of the Artifacts
To get this achievement, you need to collect a total of 45 Artifacts in the game.

How to do?

These 45 Artifacts in the game are not ‘missable’ in any way. You can find these glowing collectible items by roaming freely after completing the game’s story. Since each region offered by the game has a ‘progress tracker’ on the map, you can always easily check in which region you missed an item.

I decided to continue with ‘Exploration 2’ section because I had exceeded the character limit that Steam had allocated to a guide tab. In addition to what you read in the first ‘Exploration’ tab; there will be six achievements in total at this tab too.

Allfather Blinded
Kill all of Odin’s Ravens
To get this achievement, you need to find and kill 51 Odin's Ravens hidden in the game.

How to do?

God of War hosts a total of 51 Odin’s Ravens. These Ravens appear as the best hidden items compared to other ‘collectable’ items you will collect in the game. For this reason; Finding ravens may require good attention. When you are near a Raven, you will hear a metallic sound around. This sound means that you can find a Raven near you.

These bright green Ravens are not ‘missable’ in any way. So, after completing the main story, you can freely track your achievement. Also, as I mentioned in the first ‘Exploration’ tab, every area on the map has a ‘collectible tracker’; You can easily check what you missed in which region.

Path of the Zealot
Obtain Traveler armor set
To achieve this achievement, you need to get the three parts that belong to the Traveler armor set; chest, wrist and waist armor.

How to do?

To obtain the Traveler armor set, some reconnaissance materials are required. All of these items; Dropped by enemies resembling heavily armored shielded knights called ‘Travellers’. When you emerge victorious from your battle with the first traveler, you will unlock a special crafting. To use this crafting; You have to deliver the ‘Traveller’s Armor Shard’ you collected from the traveler to Brok or Sindri.

How to make a traveler armor set?

➤ 8x Traveler’s Armor Shard

➤ 30x Traveler’s Grisly Trophy

As you progress through the side missions and story in the game, you will encounter these enemies in abundance. If you forget to pick up the materials dropped from the travellers you have defeated, you can go to any store (Brok or Sindri) to browse through the ‘Lost items’ section and access it at any time. You’ll only need to face an average of 4 to 5 Travellers to collect the materials needed for the armor.

Primordial
Obtain Ancient armor set
To achieve this achievement, you need to get the three parts that belong to the Ancient armor set; chest, wrist and waist armor.

How to do?

Some exploration materials are required to obtain the Ancient armor set. All of these items; It is dropped by enemies resembling massive stone elemental golems called ‘Ancients’. When you emerge victorious from your battle with the first Ancient, you will unlock a special crafting. To use this crafting; You have to deliver the ‘Ancient’s Heart’ you collected from the Ancient to Brok or Sindri.

How to make an ancient armor set?

➤ 3x Ancient’s Heart

➤ 16x Ancient Rubble

As you progress through the side quests and story in the game, you will encounter these enemies in abundance. If you forget to pick up the materials dropped from the Ancients you defeated, you can go to any store (Brok or Sindri) to browse through the ‘Lost items’ section and access it at any time. In order to collect the materials needed for the armor, it will be enough to face an average of 3 to 4 Ancients.

Treasure Hunter
Use treasure maps to find all of the dig spots
To achieve this achievement, you need to find all 12 treasure maps in the game and discover the treasures.

How to do?

God of War hosts many treasures in it. These treasure maps, which will appear as we explore the world of the game, contain the mystery of materials that can be very useful against our enemies. When you find 12 treasure maps and dig spots in total, you will get the trophy.

The Truth
Read all of the Jötnar shrines
To get this achievement, you need to read each of the 11 Jötnar shrines in total in the game.

Darkness and Fog
Retrieve all treasure from the Workshop’s center chamber
To get this achievement, you need to get all five treasure chests in the Workshop in Niflheim.

How to do?

As you know, at the beginning of the ‘Exploration’ section of our guide, we included the ‘Trilingual’ achievement. Musphelheim and Niflheim, where we opened four chests for each language, had us collect eight chests in total. We can say that these chests that we have collected before will be very useful in this achievement. Since we have already opened Niflheim, you can easily go to the Workshop and collect the necessary materials.

To get the achievement ‘Darkness and Fog’, we need to complete the five treasure chests and three realm rips found in Niflheim. Niflheim, which contains random labyrinths, death traps and enemies, also has a currency called ‘Mist Echoes’. With this currency, you can access all chests and three realm rips in the central room of the Workshop. You will need to have an average of ‘68,500 Mist Echoes to collect all the items you need for the achievement. Also, you will need three ‘Anchors of Fog’ to open the realm rips. ‘Anchors of Fog’ is obtainable from legendary chests that we can describe as golden chests, which are generally found in foggy regions and guarded by an Ogre.

How to earn ‘Mist Echoes’?

You can earn Mist Echoes by opening chests that appear during the random labyrinth in Niflheim. You can also sell items you find in Niflheim by taking them to Sindri’s market in Niflheim. Remember, you can only convert items you find in Niflheim into ‘Mist Echoes’.

Thus, we have come to the end of our ‘Exploration’ and ‘Exploration 2’ sections, which captured a significant part of our guide. In the ‘God of War’ section, we will include more battle-oriented achievements. This chapter contains three achievements in total.

All Will Fall
Kill 1,000 Enemies
To get this achievement, you need to kill 1,000 enemies as you progress through the game.

How to do?

Unlike many other achievements in the game, you will not need to make any extra effort for this achievement. If you already want to complete the achievements of the game and you play by exploring everywhere, you will automatically get this achievement.

If you want to tighten this achievement separately; Muspelheim’s challenges will be very useful to you.

Unfinished Business
Assist all of the wayward spirits
To get this achievement, you must complete a total of five side quests for the wandering souls in Midgard.

How to do?

These wandering spirits in Midgard will give you a total of five side quests. The souls around the Lake of the Nine will find peace when you complete the tasks assigned to you.

What tasks should I do?

➤ Dead Freight: This side quest, which you can access in the ‘Forgotten Caverns’ area, can be obtained from the spirit on the beach located in the south side of the area. Spirit will ask you to put the rest of his crew to rest. All the targets you need to kill will be marked on your map. After killing all the targets by following the marker on your map, you can return to the spirit that gave you the quest and complete the quest.

➤ Hammer Fall: This side quest, which you can access in the ‘Stone Falls’ area, can be obtained by talking to the spirit on the hill next to the huge chain that opens the door to Veithurgard. The spirit will ask you to go to Veithurgard and return later to destroy a statue of Thor.

➤ The Anatomy of Hope: This side quest, which you can access in the ‘The Mason’s Channel’ area, can be obtained from the spirit in the north pier of the area. The Spirit will ask you to return the three bones. You can easily complete the quest as these bones will be marked on your map.

➤ Unfinished Business: This side quest you can start around the Lake of the Nine can be accessed in four different ways. The quest will begin when you reach one of the four markers in total found in Cliffs of the Raven, Isle of Death, Iron Cove, and Forgotten Caverns. Except for the area you started, the other three areas will be marked on your map and you will have to collide with the enemies you come across. When you complete all four marks, you can go to the spirit that appears on the map and finish the quest.

➤ Time Heals All: This side quest, which you can start by getting the scroll found in ‘Northri Stronghold’, asks you to return to Fafnir’s storage room to talk to the spirit after receiving the scroll. Since this quest can be accessed directly through a scroll, we can say that it is the only hidden ‘side quest’. Also, you will already go to ‘Northri Stronghold’ during Sindri’s second side quest.

Fire and Brimstone
Complete all of the Trials of Muspelheim
To get this achievement, you must complete a total of six trials available in Muspelheim.

How to do?

To access the Muspelheim trials, you must first open Muspelheim. If you haven’t unlocked the region yet and don’t know how to unlock it, we recommend that you take a look at the third achievement in the ‘Exploration’ section of our guide. While Muspelheim contains six trials; It also includes three different difficulties for each trial. To get this achievement, although you don’t need to complete each trial on all difficulties, you will need to complete some of them.

The difficulties called normal, hard and impossible will play an important role in your progress in the trials. The sixth trial will not be opened until the other trials have been completed on ‘normal’ and ‘hard’ difficulties. Therefore; You must complete all the trials on ‘normal’ to ‘hard’ difficulty, starting from the first trial until the sixth trial. After finishing all five trials on these two difficulties, you will be faced with the ‘impossible’ difficulty and a Valkyr to access the sixth trial.

After encountering and defeating Valkyrie, you will now have access to the ‘impossible’ difficulty. You will need three keys to unlock the sixth trial, which you need to get the achievement. You can get these keys by completing three different trials of your choice on ‘impossible’ difficulty. Afterwards, you can reach the achievement by completing the sixth trial.

Some of Muspelheim’s trials are seriously tough and might even challenge Kratos. Therefore; If you’re having trouble, feel free to lower the game’s difficulty, make sure you’re using the best armor and gear you have, and don’t forget to choose the ones that best suit your playstyle for the ‘impossible’ difficulty trials.

What are all the Muspelheim trials?

• Trial 1 | Impossible ➤ Avoid damage

• Trial 3 | Normal ➤ Kill enemies to break through elite defenses
• Trial 3 | Difficult ➤ Kill enemies inside golden rings
• Trial 3 | Impossible ➤ Kill enemies inside golden rings
• Trial 4 | Normal ➤ Kill 100 enemies
• Trial 4 | Difficult ➤ Don’t let enemies catch Atreus
• Trial 4 | Impossible ➤ Enemies regenerate health quickly (Kill them all)
• Trial 5 | Normal ➤ Defeat enemies to extend the timer
• Trial 5 | Difficult ➤ Avoid damage
• Trial 5 | Impossible ➤ Defeat enemies to extend the timer
• Trial 6 | ➤ Kill 50 enemies in eight minutes

Important Note: Unfortunately, I cannot write the ‘Chooser of the Slain’ achievement, which we can describe as one of the most difficult achievements of the game, in our ‘God of War’ section because of the one character limit of section. Therefore; I will write this achievement in detail in the ‘Valkyries’ section that I created as the next tab.

With this achievement, you have almost completed a large part of the game that we can describe as the ‘most difficult achievements’ and you are very close to finishing God of War with all its achievements. When you complete this tab, there is one last section left in our guide that you need to complete. This is ‘Equipment’ itself. Afterwards, we will finish this long adventure that we went out with you and say goodbye.

Chooser of the Slain
Defeat the nine Valkyries
To get this achievement, you have to fight and defeat the eight Valkyries in the game, and then face the Valkyr Queen.

How to do?

God of War contains nine Valkyries in total. Eight of them are normal Valkyries, while the last one is Valkyrie Queen. Queen Valkyrie is the strongest enemy you will encounter in the game. Valkyrie Queen, which you can reach after defeating all eight other Valkyries, may require some serious preparation.

Where can I find the Valkyries?

➤ The first four are Midgard

➤ Fifth Alfheim

➤ Sixth Helheim

➤ The seventh is in Muspelheim (We have explained in detail how this Valkyrie will appear in the ‘God of War’ section of our guide)

➤ The eighth can also be found in Niflheim

After completing your encounter with the eight Valkyries, you must go to the ‘Council of Valkyries’ area in Midgard. Place the heads of the eight Valkyries you have defeated on the thrones there and complete your grand reckoning with the Valkyrie Queen. Valkyrie Queen is the strongest enemy you will encounter in the game. Therefore; It is useful to adjust the difficulty of the game according to you and to strengthen your abilities along with your equipment. The achievement will unlock when you defeat the last Valkyrie.

The ‘Equipment’ section, which is the last section of our guide, contains a total of eight achievements. In addition, unlike other achievements, many of these achievements already appear as achievements that you will achieve spontaneously in the game.

Nice Moves
Obtain a Runic Attack Gem
It is an achievement that will automatically unlock in the story. In the main quest 'Path To the Mountain'; Atreus will point to a chest and you will get the achievement when you open this chest.

Dwarven Ingenuity
Upgrade a piece of armor
To get this achievement, you need to go to Brok or Sindri's shop and upgrade a piece of armor that you have crafted and worn.

Iðunn’s Orchard
Fully upgrade your Health
To get this achievement, you need to find a total of nine Idunn Apples hidden in Nornir Chests in the game.

How to do?

The ‘Nornir Chests’, which attract attention with three seals on them, may contain some materials to raise the health or anger of Kratos in them. Each Idunn Apple you will find in these chests will play an important role in improving your health. To completely upgrade the health of Kratos, you will need nine Idunn Apples in total (All three apples you have found will raise your health).

Best Dressed
Craft an outfit for Atreus
To get this achievement, you need to go to Brok or Sindri's shop and request an armor for Atreus. The cheapest armor you can buy will require an average of 10,000 Hacksilver.

Enchanted
Slot an Enchantment into your armor
To get this achievement, you need to place an Enchantment on your upgraded armor.

How to do?

It is one of the easiest achievements in the game. It will be enough to place one enchantment on your previously upgraded armor.

The Best Moves
Fully upgrade a Runic Attack
To get this achievement, you need to fully upgrade a Runic Attack you found earlier.

How to do?

To get this achievement, you need to upgrade the Runic Attack to the end, which you will automatically find at the very beginning of the story. Runic Attacks require XP for upgrades. You will need around 5000 XP to fully upgrade the Runic Attack that you found at the very beginning of the game.

Worthy
Fully upgrade the Leviathan Axe
To achieve this achievement, you need to improve the Leviathan Axe to the sixth level.

How to do?

The Leviathan axe, which has become one of the indispensable items of Kratos with God of War (2018), will satisfy you in the game. First of all, in order to get the ‘Worthy’ achievement, you must first complete the game’s story. The material called ‘Frozen Flames’, which you will obtain when you defeat the enemies we call ‘boss’, that will come across you as you progress through the story, allows you to upgrade your axe. When you complete the story of the game, you will have upgraded your axe to the fifth level.

If you are progressing in the game through our guide; You don’t have to worry about the sixth level, which we call the last level. For the sixth upgrade, you are required to open a chest worth 5,000 ‘Mist Echoes’ located in Niflheim. These chests also have a separate achievement in the game. When you complete the sixth achievement ‘Darkness and Fog’, which is in the ‘Exploration 2’ tab of our guide, you will get both of them.

The chest you open with 5,000 ‘Mist Echoes’ in Niflheim will provide you with a ‘Chilling Mist of Niflheim’. Afterwards; You have to go to the shop in Niflheim and exchange this item for ‘Frozen Flame’. After that, you can easily upgrade your axe to level six.

Quick Tempered
Fully upgrade your rage
To get this achievement, you need to find a total of nine 'Horns of Blood Mead' hidden in the Nornir Chests in the game.

How to do?

The ‘Nornir Chests’, which attract attention with three seals on them, may contain some materials to raise the anger or health of Kratos in them. Each of the Horns of Blood Mead that you will find in these chests will play an important role in improving your rage. To fully raise the anger of Kratos, you will need nine ‘Horns of Blood Mead’ in total (All three Horns of Blood Meads you have found will raise your rage).

Important Note: Since the achievement ‘Why Fight It?’, which is the last achievement of the ‘Equipment’ tab of our guide, contains spoilers partially about the story of the game; We have added it to the very end of the ‘Story’ section of our guide. When you have completely completed the story of the game, I recommend you to take a look at the achievement I mentioned.

This section of the guide, which I will share in detail the stages of correction, updating and progress, will be completely open to everyone. Your ideas and support are very important to me.
