SOLASTA Crown of the Magister Solasta Achievement Guide (Complete for EA) 1 - steamsplay.com
An achievement guide for Solasta, now that achievement hunting is finally possible! Will probably get an overhaul once the game is fully released (i.e., icons will be added etc). As complete as it can currently be during Early Access.

Introduction

Hello there! Welcome to my achievement guide for Solasta – Crown of the Magister! This guide is built during Early Access and based on the achievements that were only just implemented with the spring update. This guide is technically still a WIP and will be updated after the game’s full release to include all achievements that are not unlockable so far, to include icons once the achievements have them and so on. This guide will not only contain explanations of all achievements, but in most cases also tips on how to obtain them. Also, spoilers! Don’t hover over those boxes if you don’t want any story spoilers.

Huge shout-outs to neoa091 who told me some hidden achievements early on, SemiNoodle5555 for helping me find a way to figure out the remaining hidden ones and especially to Alderbranch who let me compare notes and discuss achievements extensively.

CHARACTER CREATION

You need to create a character of each playable class in the character creator. You do not need to play with them, the achievement is rewarded at the end of the creation.

Beat ‘Em Up
Create a Fighter

They fight. What more is there to say?

Deus Vult
Create a Paladin

Paladins are an excellent choice in this game. Not only are they tanks and heavy hitters, they can also revive dead party members!

I need healing!
Create a Cleric

Usually I’m the staunchest supporter of “Clerics are more than just healers!” and while I love to dish out damage with my Sun Cleric here as well, you will need their healing powers. Also, they can revive dead party members. At third spell level (upon reaching level 5), the Cleric can also learn Create Food which can help if your rations are ever waning because the party failed to find food on their way yet again

It’s rogue, not rouge
Create a Rogue

Recommended for picking locks and disarming traps but you can also give other characters (high DEX recommended) Thieves’ tools proficiency instead by investing in a feat at level 4 or 8.

Yer a wizard, Henry
Create a Wizard

Absolute must-have party member in my humble opinion. Either main damage dealer or main support/crowd control, the one that will do (and maybe even succeed) on most of the knowledge skill checks. Also the one who can identify your magic items and potions (this can only be compensated by the spellcasting Rogue subclass iirc if you have a go without a wizard).

You bow to no one
Create a Ranger

I know everyone loves to drag Rangers as the most useless class of D&D. But here, they can make your travels so much easier! There is no druid class, but the Ranger can learn the Goodberries spell which will provide rations for your travels. The likelihood of your party starving to death and being unable to finish long rests sinks dramatically with a ranger! The only other class who can learn it, is the Greenmage Wizard – and let’s be real, why would you pick that if you can go with Shock Arcanist instead?

Perfectionist
Use ‘Reroll Dice’ more than 20 times in Character Creation

Reroll your stats until the achievement pops up. You need to do this on the same character, it is not cumulative.

FIGHTING – OTHER

An easy victory
Finish a fight with only one character alive

‘Alive’ can sound misleading here. The other three do not need to actually be dead, they just need to be unconscious, as in needing to make death saving throws.

Close shave
Have a character stabilize with 2 failed death saving throws

After dropping to zero HP, a character will start to make death saving throws, which go against a DC of 10. There is room for three successes and three failures. After three successes, the character stabilizes naturally. After three fails, the character dies. A CRITICAL FAILURE WILL IMMEDIATELY MARK TWO FAILURES! For this achievement, you need to wait for a character to be at two failed death saves to either heal them or use your Cleric’s action to cast the cantrip Spare the Dying (which is a touch-based spell, so the Cleric needs to stand next to the downed party member) to stabilize them magically. Of course, you can also just hope for the next death save(s) to succeed but that’s dangerous. Because RNG.

Critical Thinking
Land 50 critical hits in a single campaign

This will happen through natural progression. Luck can be pretty rotten for me in this game, but fifty crits are easily manageable, even within Early Access. The Champion Fighter subclass allows characters to crit on both a 19 and a 20 if you need to make it easier for yourself.

Death is only the beginning
Resurrect a fallen character

If a character goes unconscious, they need to fail all three death saving throws. This happens way more easily than I’d like but hey, that’s D&D. After they die, a counter appears in their character’s icon – that is the amount of rounds left in which you can resurrect them. You need to have a Cleric or a Paladin in your party and standing. They can use a scroll of Revivify (or cast Revivify if they’re high level enough and have Revivify prepared) to resurrect their party member. Or you can use the crown, which allows its wearer to cast Revivify.

How do you want to do this?
Kill an enemy with a critical hit

Guaranteed to just happen. It’s RNG which is annoying because the RNG in this game can feel very punishing. But I can guarantee you that at some point you will land a critical hit that becomes a killing blow.

It’s just a flesh wound
Take a critical hit without going down

Very likely to just happen. The RNG in this game can be off the charts crazy and annoying, so crits should happen for your enemies more than enough. It’s basically sheer luck because the enemy needs to crit and the targeted character needs to have enough HP to not go unconscious.

It’s Super Effective!
Deal the appropriate type of damage to an enemy with vulnerability

Some enemies have damage resistances, some have damage vulnerabilities. For example, skeletons are vulnerable to bludgeoning damage. Find a vulnerability (check the bestiary when in doubt; it will list, among other things, damage resistances and vulnerabilities once you fought an enemy type often enough) and use a spell or weapon that deals that damage to get a bonus.

Not on my watch
Kill an enemy during their turn

Either doable with spells that have a damage effect when enemies start their turn (such as Spirit Guardians) or by using your reaction for attacks. This is, for example, done with readied attacks, opportunity attacks when an enemy tries to leave your melee range or with some skills, such as the Ranger’s Marksman subclass feat that lets you use your reaction to counter a ranged weapon attack with one of your own.

Watch your step!
Have an enemy fall to their death

It’s more than likely that you will obtain this in the tutorial because it teaches you how to shove enemies off high points during the fight with the wolf pack.

Worth it
Damage a friendly character with a spell

Easily done with AoE spells such as Flaming Sphere, Fireball, Lightning Bolt and so on. Just cast it with one of your party members within the affected area.

CRAFTING

Crafting happens during the travel time. Do not forget to pause the party, click their icons and assign crafting tasks. You will need enough ingredients for this but it should not be too difficult if you loot all ingredients instead of selling them.
Proficiency with some kits is required, most of them really benefit from a high Arcana bonus as well.

Deadly to the touch
Use the Poisoner’s Kit 20 times

You need to learn posion recipes for this. Then, craft 20 poisons or poisoned ammunition.

Enchantment? Enchantment!
Use the Manacalon Rosary 20 times

You need to find and learn recipes for enchanted items for this. Then, let your wizard enchant 20 items. You need the marked-as-ingredient items for this. You can recognise them from the little blue icon in the lower right corner of their pictures. You need to make all twenty enchantments in the same playthrough.

Stop complaining about the taste
Use the Herbalism Kit 20 times

You need to learn potion recipes for this. Then, craft 20 healing potions.

What a spellcaster truly needs
Use the Scroll Kit 20 times

You need to learn scroll recipes for this. Then, craft 20 spell scrolls.

BACKGROUNDS

You will need at least two playthroughs for this since the party size is four characters, so that is the maximum amount of background quests you can complete per playthrough.

FACTIONS

You need to max your relations with the respective factions. To do that, you need to reach 80+ points on their scale. You need to bring the historical items and artefacts you find to the factions you want to get closer to. Don’t just hand them over! Collect all the artifacts and store them in your party stash chest next to the quest board! Currently, there are 17 artifacts for the factions total. You currently cannot max all the factions. Both the Principality and the Scavengers raise their sympathy points through main story progression and side quests only. For the Church of Einar, there is no achievement.
You can max the Antiquarians, the Arcaneum and the Tower of Knowledge, but afaik not at the same time. So saving and reloading is required unless you’re willing to invest multiple runs into this.

Champions of the Antiquarians
Max out your reputation with the Antiquarians.

Reach a reputation of 80+ with the Antiquarians. Have a character with the ‘Academic’ Background in your party because that gives you a headstart on the relationship with the Antiquarians. You can find their representative in Caer Cyflen in the northwest corner of the map at the Snow Alliance shortcut to bring them artifacts. Don’t forget to take on the side quests from the quest board if you want the relation to improve faster.

Champions of the Arcaneum
Max out your reputation with the Arcaneum.

Reach a reputation of 80+ with the Arcaneum. You can find their representative in Caer Cyflen in the southwest corner of the map in the Gravekeeper’s Cask Inn to bring them artifacts. Don’t forget to take on the side quests from the quest board if you want the relation to improve faster.

Champions of the Circle
Max out your reputation with the Circle of Danantar.

Reach a reputation of 80+ with the Circle. You can find their representative in Caer Cyflen in the lower middle of the Sublaze Court to bring them artifacts. Don’t forget to take on the side quests from the quest board if you want the relation to improve faster.

Champions of the Principality
Max out your reputation with the Principality.

Reach a reputation of 80+ with the Principality. Happens through natural progression with the story. Don’t forget to take on the side quests from the quest board if you want the relation to improve faster.

Champions of the Scavengers
Max out your reputation with the Scavengers.

Reach a reputation of 80+ with the Scavengers. Happens through natural progression with the story. Don’t forget to take on the side quests from the quest board if you want the relation to improve faster.

Champions of the Tower
Max out your reputation with the Tower of Knowledge.

Reach a reputation of 80+ with the Tower. You can find their representative in Caer Cyflen on the eastern side of the map to bring them artifacts. Don’t forget to take on the side quests from the quest board if you want the relation to improve faster.

STORY PROGRESSION (SPOILERS)

Beware the spoilers!

I swear.
Deputy of the Council

Unmissable. Follow the main quest. Finish the tutorial missions and go to the council to get sworn in.

The plot thickens
Find out what happened to Captain Henrik

Unmissable. Follow the main quest. Travel to Caer Lem and meet the survivors.

Believe us now?
Show proof that the Soraks are real

Unmissable. Follow the main quest. See for yourselves that Soraks are real when they attack Caer Lem.

I have my doubts
Escape Caer Lem with Lisbath Townsend

Missable. You need to have Lisbath as a companion in your party when escaping from Caer Lem through the caves. You only have her in the group if Beryl Stonebeard dies. For that, you need to talk to Robar Sharp and succeed in your skill checks to make Beryl step down from command in favour of Robar. If your persuasion roll fails, Lisbeth will die instead.

I’m not paid enough for that
Escape Caer Lem with Beryl Stonebeard

Missable. Will be the easiest of these four and is best paired with Wasn’t me for efficiency since Lisbath can only become a party member together with Robar and Robar will die if you talk to Daliat. Just don’t convince Robar to take over command to have Beryl join your party.

Mutinous thoughts
Escape Caer Lem with Robar Sharp

Missable. Will be one of the more difficult ones of these four and is best paired with I have my doubts for efficiency since Lisbath can only become a party member together with Robar and Robar will die if you don’t try to convince him to take over command. However, if you don’t succeed at convincing him, Lisbath will die instead of Beryl.

Wasn’t me
Escape Caer Lem with Daliat Sunbird

Missable. Will not be as difficult as you may thing and is best paired with I’m not paid enough for this for efficiency since Daliat will only join your party if you talk to him and have a character with a spy background in your party. If you don’t, it might also work if you simply succeed at your persuasion rolls to get him to talk to you. I will try it and update the info here accordingly. Keep in mind that you will fight and kill Daliat if you fail that persuasion roll! Daliat also can only join the party together with Beryl because Robar will die if you talk to him, which causes Lisbath to stay behind as well.

Crown of the Magister
Obtain the Crown

Unmissable. Follow the main quest. Travel to the ancient library and finish the dungeon. Do not give the crown to your cleric or your paladin! It can be used to cast Revivify, so give it to someone who cannot do that normally!

We are friends, not food
Negotiate with Aksha

Missable. Unlocks after persuading Aksha to let the party through to see Mardracht without having to fight her.

We don’t negotiate with monsters
Kill Aksha

Missable. Unlocks after killing Aksha on your way to see Mardracht.

Back in my days…
Negotiate with Mardracht

Missable. Unlocks after persuading Mardracht to let the party obtain the Gem of Necromancy without having to fight him.

You get nothing! Good day sir!
Kill Mardracht

Missable. Fail to negotiate with Mardracht about the gem in order to fight him and his undead reinforcements.

Master of Necromancy
Obtain the Gem of Necromancy

Unmissable. Follow the main quest. Follow the Crownbearer’s intuition to the first possible gem location. Meet Mardracht and get the gem from his room.

Master of Abjuration
Obtain the Gem of Abjuration

Unmissable. Follow the main quest. Reunite Kythaela with her master and defeat Razan.

Climbing the ranks
Become Senior Deputy of the Council

Unmissable. Follow the main quest. Return to Caer Cyflen after collecting the third gem and talk to the council.

And that is pretty much as far as you can currently progress with the main quest in Early Access!

MISCELLANEOUS

Everything else.

Gold makes Solasta go round
Have 20,000 gold in your inventory

Occurs through natural progression if you’re not too careless with your funds. You get tons of loot to sell. Most of the gear you find – especially magical items – are much better equipment than what you can buy anyway, so don’t bother with buying weapons or armour. Be aware that transcribing spells (which you definitely SHOULD do with your wizard for every wizard class scroll you come across) costs money and gets more expensive, the higher the spell level! I’d advise saving the game before attempting transcribing just to save yourself from some frustration and monetary loss. If you get a rosary and craft enchanted items, these usually sell for several thousand gold apiece, helping you along nicely for this achievement.

Humpty Dumpty
Have a character die or go unconscious from falling

Can be done in a fight or in regular level exploration. It’s easier if you take a character that is already low on HP – throw an AoE spell on yourself if that’s not the case, so the falling damage is definitely enough to knock you out. You either need the Fly spell (spell level 3, so avaible from level 5 onwards) or a Fly potion. Dimension Door might also work, but is a level 4 spell, so it unlocks even later than Fly. If you’ve positioned your character high up in the air – the higher up, the higher the falling damage – just click on the blue circle in the character’s portrait to cut concentration and see yourself plummet. Also, if Feather Fall is prepped, you must pass on the reaction! Feather Fall will negate all fall damage.

I cast fist!
Start the campaign with no cleric or wizard

As it says, make a party that’s focused on physical battle, such as Fighter/Paladin/Ranger/Rogue or the absolute classic of a “Pala and the Dins” four Pala squad.

Immortal
Finish the game with no character ever dying

Not obtainable as of yet. You will have to wait for the full release for this one. Will let you know

Monster Hunters
Unlock new information in the Bestiary 100 times

Occurs through natural progression. Succesful survival checks after a battle should count towards that, so a character with high WIS and, ideally, proficiency in survival will help with it.

Stay awhile and listen
Identify 20 magic items

Occurs through natural progression. Just don’t forget to regularly cast Detect Magic to find magical items in your loot (usually labelled as ‘magnificent (armor)’ or similar descriptions. After casting Detect Magic, the items that can be identified have a little question mark in their upper corner. Just cast Identify to find out what properties the items have. Do not forget to cast both Detect Magic and Identify as rituals exclusively to save your spell slots!

The Classics
Start the campaign with a fighter, cleric, wizard and rogue

You do not need to continue to play with that party setup, you juust need to start a game with them.

Why can’t I hold all these magic items?
Have one character attune to 3 magic items

Some magical items need to be attuned to have an effect. To attune an item to a character, let the group take a short rest. Just fill all three attunement slots of one character with items (The crown does not count towards this although it is described as attuned; it does not take up an attunement slot, the wearer just cannot pick another kind of helmet to wear!

DUNGEON MAKER

You can make your own custom dungeons with the Dungeon Maker and share them with the community. It’s not only a great way for additional fun, it’s also giving you additional achievements!

Step into my realm!
Create a dungeon using the Dungeon Maker

Use the Dungeon Maker and don’t forget to save your progress.

A whole new world
Enter a custom dungeon

You don’t need to download a custom dungeon, one of your own design will suffice. If you’ve built a dungeon, save your progress and playtest it.

HIDDEN/UNLOCKABLE AS OF YET (WIP)

Yeah. This isn’t in the game, yet. I will update the list and put everything on there in the responding categories as soon as that changes.

  • Give me a real challenge (apparently, there will be an Iron Man mode. this is what you get for it!)

Conclusion

A few notes to finish everything off:

As of Early Access, 80 out of the 82 achievements are confirmed as unlockable and have been unlocked by at least one person.
Most of the grinding achievements are already possible, so if you want to go achievement hunting, it can be done. To get all the missable main story achievements as well as all the background story achievements, you will need two playthroughs at maximum efficiency. If you don’t want to start achievement hunting before everything can be done in as little time as possible, I’d recommend waiting until the full release.

Finally, there is nothing left for me to say except enjoy the game, have fun getting those achievements and don’t let those Nat 1s get you down! If you have any further questions about the achievements or details related to unlocking them, please don’t hesitate to drop a comment.
