Legion TD 2 uses an en.wikipedia.org – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system. Your rating change at the end of each game is based on:
- Your team rating
- Their team rating
- Whether you win or lose
Your rating increases if you win and decreases if you lose. The amount that your rating changes depends on the difference between your team rating and their team rating. The harder your opponents, the more your rating increases if you win and the less your rating decreases if you lose.
We use an outcome-based (win/loss) rating system rather than a performance-based (income, leaks, MVP, etc.) one. As soon as performance-based incentives are introduced, players can inflate their performance metrics in ways that are harmful to their team and not optimal for winning. An outcome-based system accounts for intangibles and rewards players who play to win.
New Player Adjustment
New players start at 800 rating and automatically gain +40 rating per win for their first 20 ranked games, in addition to having doubled rating change from winning or losing. This helps new players and smurfs converge to their proper rating faster and helps ease new players into the ranked experience.
If a game is canceled, the disconnected player loses 8 rating. If that player is duoed with someone, his teammate will also lose 8 rating. Other players gain 1 rating as compensation.
If your teammate is disconnected for 2+ waves and is not present at the end of the game or is disconnected for 4+ waves, you lose half the rating if you lose and gain the full amount if you win.
Your rank is a visual representation of your rating. There is one rank every 200 rating from 1000 to 2800. Your end-of-season ranked rewards are based on your peak rating achieved that season. You are not penalized for dropping below a rank you already achieved.
Each rank in Legion TD 2 is a meaningful accomplishment. The average player is 1200 rating.
Legion TD 2 creates matches based on:
- Team A vs. Team B fairness (tries to create an even match)
- Skill differences of players within a match (tries to find closely-rated players)
- Time spent waiting in queue
- Number of players online
The longer players wait or the fewer players currently online, the more likely the matchmaker is to allow uneven games. Even if games are uneven, your rating change accounts for differences in skill. When you play against stronger opponents, you gain more rating if you win and lose less rating if you lose.
Duos have their ratings adjusted to account for communication and strategic advantages:
- +35 rating (two 1200s duoing are treated as 1235)
- Additionally, the highest-rated player in the duo is given extra weight when determining the average. This weight increases for higher rated players to prevent smurf-boosting to the top of the ladder.
