Welcome, and we hope you find this guide to Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent Widescreen Fix & New Patch.

Splinter Cell Double Agent is an unstable, broken version of the next-generation Splinter Cell. Crashes, visual glitches, audio glitches, you name it. What can we do to decrease the frequency of these types of events?

Patching the game

Fun fact The game is in its 1.0 version on retail copies. It’s not even updated by the latest services like Steam. You’ll need to patch your game if you want to fix bugs.

1. Downloading the patch

Ubisoft’s most recent patch, 1.02a, can be downloaded from their website.

It could be claimed that it’s safe, but I swear, it’s not.

2. Applying the patch

Once you have the patch installed, visit the game’s installation page by right-clicking on your game’s library and then clicking on Manage > Browse local documents .

Once you have completed your installation, simply drop it into the open as administrator folder and then click on install.

Widescreen Fix

Let’s modernize our game. The maximum resolution supported by the game is 720p. It’s sufficient, but could be improved.

1. Downloading the Widescreen Fix

The fix is available at
ThirteenAG’s Github Page – [github.ioThirteenAG’s Github Page – [github.io

Scroll down to find it.

2. Installing the fix

To install the fix, just navigate to the directory of your game and drag and drop the contents.

3. Modern resolution

Widescreen fix comes with a few scripts that you can modify. They can be found in (game’s directory). > SCDA-Offline > Systems > Scripts . You want to open SplinterCellDoubleAgent.WidescreenFix.ini (the one with the cog) and inside you should see:

 [MAIN]
ResX = 0
ResY = 0
ForceLL = 1 // Fixes startup crash, same thing as -ll shortcut switch.
SingleCoreAffinity = 0 // Experimental, attempt to avoid mid-loading hang.

[GRAPHICS]
;ShadowMapResolution = 2048 // Do not use, causes bugs. Default is 1024, max is 8192
GlowResolution = 0 // Max 2048

[MISC]
SkipIntro = 1
FPSLimit = 1000

[BONUS]
BlacklistIndicators = 0
;Indicators behave like in Blacklist, not visible in the light, visible in the shadows
;The more visible you are, the weaker they glow, set option to 2 to inverse the behavior

We are looking to modify ResX and ResY according to our own discretion.

Set ResX to 1920 if would like to play at 1080p. Set ResY to 1080 if you wish to play at 1920.

The values could change at any time you select (duh) So ensure that you make sure you set the right values.

Maximizing graphics (Optional).

The settings menu in the game doesn’t allow you to set the graphics to the maximum. Let’s change that with some tweaks to the ini.

This is a feature that’s optional that doesn’t improve the game’s performance, but it does make it appear better. Only do this if you own an efficient computer (it’s an old game that dates back to the early 2000s and who does not have a reliable computer?).

Go to your Game’s directory > SCDA – Offline > System Open SplinterCell4.ini

To locate these settings, press Ctrl+F to find these settings.

[General]

  • SimpleShader=False
  • SimpleEffect=False
  • HidePieces=False

[Graphics]

  • bTrilinearFiltering=False
  • bSpecularLighting=True

[Init]

  • PermeatingLightCutOff=False

[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]

  • UseHWShadowMapping=False
  • ShadowResolutionDegree=0
  • ShadowTurnOffDegree=100
  • bUseSmoothShadow=False
  • FSAADegree=0
  • AnisotropyDegree=4

60hz+ refresh rate

Even though your FPS cap set to 1000, 60hz will still be visible since the game’s refresh rate is set at 60 Hz. Let’s change that with the help of a HexEditor like [/url] HxD.

1. Install the HexEditor you prefer In this case we will use HxD

2. Open D3DDrv.dll using HxD

It should be located in (game’s directory). > SCDA-Offline > Systems

3. Find the hex values 1B D2 E2, 83, 1B and 3C.

This can be accomplished by pressing Ctrl+F > and then clicking the tab for hex values

4. Replacing the values

  • BA 64 00 00 00 100 Hz
  • BA 78 00 00 00 120 Hz
  • BA 90 00 00 00 for 144 60 Hz
  • BA E8 03 00 00 for highest available

5. Save the changes by pressing Ctrl +

Conclusion

These improvements will make Splinter Cell: Double Agent more enjoyable. There will be fewer crashes and the game will run more smoothly.
