The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 – Part 1 23 - steamsplay.com
A sequel to the previous TBoI Bosses page that, for a time, seemed to get a bit of traction and garner a couple hundred views. However, I had to cut out some stuff and so I’ve created a 2nd part.

Disclaimers: No this isn’t an actual ‘guide’, just a place to store information in an organised manner. I also know that Edmund said Repentance was the final update, so this *isn’t* some sort of push for more content (Seriously, Repentance was amazing and if Edmund says that’s it then that’s fine) and is moreso for the idea of mods or something, so I thought I’d just clear those misconceptions up in advance.

Anyways, onto the boss designs 🙂

[Prior Notes]

1. Pre-Repentance Content
Many of the bosses in this page were designed before Repentance came out, many of them being designed at the same time as the first edition of this page, so if anything has similarities to Repentance content it’s likely just a coincidence.

Some content was designed after Repentance’s release, however; primarily Bosses 18 & 19

2. MS Paint
Yes, like before, I’m using MS Paint and a mouse with no mousepad for drawing. Not the best by any means, but I hope they’ll at least be serviceable to display the general idea of the bosses

Plus, some people liked my MS Paint drawings, so maybe it’s not all bad 😛

3. Time
These images were basically made across a lengthy timespan that ranges from when the first TBoI Boss Ideas was released all the way until the day this one released, so the quality of the images varies quite a lot. Thought I’d mention it in advance since it makes the drawing quality inconsistent in some areas.

Anyways, onto the actual bosses now

21 – Sackarachnid

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 21 - Sackarachnid

Appearance: A large sack with spider-like legs and a face with a jagged mouth. The eyes and mouth seem hollow but do not reveal what is actually inside the sack.

Health: 240
Found: Basement, Cellar
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may charge at the player, accelerating until it hits a wall
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-May release 4 bombs that slide in the cardinal directions. It takes reduced damage from its own bombs
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosions)
-It may release an ‘eruption’ of shots from its head in random directions
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-It may open its head and release a random enemy. The enemy will always be one normally found in Chapter 1; such as Gapers, Flies and Horfs.

Defeat:
Falls over, with the rope holding its head together loosening, then bursts.

Champion Variants:
-Black Champion: Spawns bombs instead of enemies during the summon attack and also drops bombs during its charge attack
-Green Champion: Releases creep-leaving Ipecac shots instead of bombs and the eruption attack also releases Ipecac. Does not charge at the player anymore.

Extra Info:
-Sackarachnid was the first boss designed specifically for Boss Ideas 2, though it technically was not the first boss designed on this page due to me cutting the first part short.

22 – Mega Mimic

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 22 - Mega Mimic

Appearance: A giant mimic with black teeth lining its lid and base. It has a single, green eye at its front.

Health: 300
Found: Basement, Cellar, Burning Basement
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
Stays immobile at the centre of the room most of the time, having very limited movement
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-May release an arc of 3 red coin-like shots towards the player
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-It may close up for a few seconds, becoming immune to damage
-It may open up wider and release either 2 Spiders or a Lv. 2 Spider
-It may close up, shake, and then lunge towards Isaac. It is the boss’ only form of mobility
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-It may throw down 1-3 Mimic Chests that contain no items. These disappear after a few seconds, but otherwise act like regular Mimic Chests if Isaac gets too close.

Defeat:
Shakes, and bursts. Has a chance to drop 1-2 random chests upon death.

Champion Variants:
-Gold Champion: Coin attack will cause Isaac to drop 2-3 coins. Has a chance to drop a gold chest on death.
-Red Champion: Releases troll bombs instead of spiders and performs the lunge attack more often. Has a chance to drop a red chest on death.
-Grey Champion: No longer charges at the player, but has 20% more health. Has a chance to drop a stone chest on death.

Extra Info:
-Originally, this boss would have just dropped a Mimic Chest on death, regardless of chance or champion variants. This was changed, however, since it just felt bad to do
-All 3 of the boss’ champion variants are based on different chest types; the gold, red and stone chests, respectively. They also have a chance to drop these variants when defeated.

23 – Rag Wraith

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 23 - Rag Wraith

Appearance: A transparent, ghostly version of Rag Mega, presumably a posthumous version.

Health: 800
Found: Necropolis, Mausoleum, Gehenna
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may release 8 purple orbs from itself that rotate outwards and off-screen. They then return to him again, moving inwards faster.
–They may either rotate the same way as before, or they may rotate in the opposite direction when returning
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Orbs)
-It may launch 3-5 purple orbs directly at the player. However, they have a Continuum effect; passing through the arena 4 times each before disappearing
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Orbs)
-It may release several black orbs that fly to random positions in the arena and then sink into the floor, making the floor turn black. After a short delay purple beams erupt from the ground at the same positions as the black orbs had originally landed. Afterwards the floor returns to normal.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Orbs)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Beams)
-It may launch 2 purple orbs generally towards the player and then throw itself at the player in a similar manner. Both orbs and Rag Wraith itself will have a continuum effect and will also bounce off of one another. After a few seconds it dispels the orbs.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Wraith Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Orbs)

Defeat:
Shudders, then erupts into a pillar of purple light as it disappears

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-This is currently the only version of Rag Man incapable of spawning Raglings during its boss fight
-There is an unused boss in TBoI: Repentance called Lag Lich, who is an actual official posthumous version of Rag Mega. However, I only found out about this after this boss had been designed in its entirety.
–Fortunately Rag Wraith and Rag Lich look nothing alike since they’re very different takes on a posthumous Rag Mega
[Added: 18/4/21]

24 – Gourged

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 24 - Gourged

Appearance: A large, bloated fly with an appearance similar to the Soul Sucker enemies

Health: 500
Found: Depths, Necropolis, Dank Depths
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
Usually flies towards Isaac, stopping frequently to attack
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may curl up and shake before releasing brimstone lasers in the cardinal directions
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-Fires a brimstone laser towards the player which pushes Gourged away. Once Gourged hits a wall it will fire out 4 more brimstone shots in the 4 ordinal directions as well for a short time
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-It may fire a brimstone laser upwards, then rotate the laser 360-degrees around the room
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-It may release 4 brimstone shots in the ordinal directions before rotating them all 45 degrees, either clockwise or anticlockwise
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)

Defeat:
Shudders, looks surprised, and then bursts into 8 brimstone lasers launched in the cardinal and ordinal directions
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)

Champion Variants:
-Black Champion: No longer performs the brimstone ‘knockback’ attack, instead summoning 1-2 Soul Sucker flies. These cannot hurt the boss with their brimstone lasers, nor can Gourged hurt them either.

Extra Info:
-Gourged was almost cut from the page to make room for bosses 17-20, however some of the bosses added in Repentance lead to a different duo of bosses being removed instead. It shares this ‘almost scrapped’ classification with The Brute
-Originally, it performed the ‘rotating brimstone’ attack twice in a row, with the 2nd attack starting from the cardinal directions before rotating. However this was deemed excessive and was scrapped.

25 – Minesweeper

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 25 - Minesweeper

Appearance: A large Mr. Mine-like enemy. Something vaguely fleshy can be seen behind its eye holes, however.

Health: 500
Found: Flooded Caves, Catacombs
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
Minesweeper is almost always stationed in the centre of the room in a large pit in the ground. There are also 4 smaller holes in the corners of the room
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-Swings its head back before quickly slamming it down on top of the player
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-Slams its head into one of the 4 arena walls, causing rock to drop from the sky randomly
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Rocks)
-Shrieks, causing a Mr. Mine to spawn from one of the 4 pits in the corners of the arena
-Slams its head down on top of the player as before, then drags it in a large circle 360 degrees around the arena. The player has to move in order to avoid the attack or fly over one of the pits in the corners
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)

Defeat:
Shakes its head around violently, then sinks back into the hole in the ground

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Minesweeper is effectively just a large version of the Mr. Mine enemies in design and basic functionality
–However, it lacks the 6 shots they normally release on death
–The additional fleshy tissue present inside its head is also different
-Minesweeper was another boss that had some design concepts planned before the release of the first TBoI Boss Ideas page, though it initially went unused
[Added: 26/4/21]

26 – Brute

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 26 - Brute

Appearance: A vaguely humanoid creature with massively oversized arms and tiny legs. Its face is either on its torso or a poorly-defined head

Health: 300
Found: Basement, Burning Basement
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
Usually slowly walks towards the player using his hands when not using its attacks
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may perform a leap through the air, hanging in the air for about a second and landing where the player was standing. It creates a ring of rock spikes around itself
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Rock Spikes)
-It may ready a throw, with a rock landing in his hand as ammo. He may perform this up to 3 times, with the rock projectiles being slow but having lots of range. Has a chance to throw bomb rocks.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Rock)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Bomb Rock)
-He may slam down his fists, causing 1-2 random enemies to drop from the sky. The enemies are always weaker Chapter 1 enemies.
-If there are regular enemies in the room he may jump over to them, pick them up, and throw them at the player. This usually kills the enemy and deals damage based on the enemy’s original contact damage

Defeat:
Gives a dizzy look, then falls face-first on the ground

Champion Variants:
-Orange Champion: Throws bombs instead of rocks, summons bombs instead of enemies, and creates a damaging explosion around itself during its leap attack

Extra Info:
-The Brute initially started off purely as a joke boss; being based initially off of the ‘never skip leg day’ joke, but ended up staying around because I liked his goofy design
-While the boss was designed before Repentance and thus Bumbino’s existence, it is somewhat debatable whether Bumbino’s existence makes Brute somewhat unnecessary due to both being the ‘big beefy’ version of an existing entity specialising in melee attacks and even having similar features such as the protruding tooth. However, these were actually pure coincidence, and Brute fills a completely different role, so maybe not.

27 – Burrower

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 27 - Burrower

Appearance: A large, brown worm with a few rows of teeth visible inside its mouth, as well as some teeth-like protrusions around its mouth and head. Has a single large spike at the tip of its tail

Health: 480
Found: Caves, Catacombs
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
Usually remains within the walls of the arena when not attacking; free from harm. Exposes itself to attack often, however
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-Emerges from the walls, moving in an semi-circular motion that leads it back into the wall. Does this a few times in succession, with each having a chance to spawn worm-like enemies like Chargers or Maggots
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-Causes cracks to appear in a wall, then bursts out of it and lunges at the player. Afterward it quickly burrows into the nearest wall
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-Pops its head out of a wall, launching a wide arc of 3 shots at the player that all split into 4 smaller shots
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-Lunges out of a wall near the player, and immediately after lunges back into the place it came from. Typically a faster version of its main leap attack
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)

Defeat:
Regular death animation, likely curling up before it explodes into gibs

Champion Variants:
-Cream Champion: Only performs the ‘semi-circle burrow’ and ‘shot arc’ attacks. 20% less health (384) and slightly smaller.
-Red Champion: 10% more health (528), and favours all its charge and lunge attacks. ‘semi-circle burrow’ does not spawn enemies

Extra Info:
-This boss was initially based on the Tunneler item from TBoI Boss Ideas’ first part, along with some small parts of other bosses, and also from Wormwood before it was officially added into the game
[Added: 26/4/21]

28 – Meat Man

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 28 - Meat Man

Appearance: A large wall made of… meat. It has a distorted face with jagged teeth protruding from it, as well as one visible eye.

Health: 785
Found: Chapter 4 (In-General)
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
Meat Man takes up the entire northern wall of the arena, and causes the floor to continuously move back towards him; giving the illusion of the room constantly scrolling downward.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-Can vomit a large barrage of shots in an inaccurate cluster towards the player
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-Can vomit up 2 piles of fleshy tissue that quickly become Globins. The vomit attack itself deals the same damage as Globins’ contact damage does
-Can cause large blister-like growths on its body that pop to release a stream of shots directly forward. Spawns many of these in rapid succession
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-May launch a large shot at the player that explodes after a short time, leaving creep as it moves. The creep effectively ‘retracts’ back to Meat Man shortly after being launched due to the moving floor
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shot)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-Can summon several Mr. Red Maw heads from its body, all chained to Meat Man. They launch forward at the player and despawn upon fully returning to Meat Man. Whether they despawn or the player destroys them they will release shots in the cardinal directions.
As Meat Man’s health gets lower, the scrolling effect of the floor will gradually increase in speed

Defeat:
Lets out a groan, then slumps over and looks disappointed. Room stops scrolling and Meat Man stops dealing contact damage.

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Meat Man’s reference is primarily a reference to Meat Boy and the Cube of Meat items, due to its name, location and general colour scheme.
–It is also based off of a Globin enemy, as evidence by the shape of its face and ability to spawn Globins during the fight
[Added: 27/4/21]

29 – Frogspawn

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 29 - Frogspawn

Appearance: A large frog with a reddened belly. Also, despite being a frog, it seems to have a complete set of teeth.

Health: 350
Found: Caves, Catacombs, Flooded Caves
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
Hops towards the player when not attacking, similar to but generally faster than Monstro.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may vomit a stream of shots upwards. They shortly begin falling down from above the player one at a time in rapid succession
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-It may jump upwards and off-screen, only to land on top of the player. Leaves a short-lived pool of damaging red creep upon landing.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-It may spit out several flies. These are primarily basic attack flies, but can be Morters, Swarm Flies or rarely Dart Flies, various types of Boom Flies or Pooters
-It may stick out its tongue, aimed towards the player. The attack has a lot of reach and has varying effects:
–Hitting the player will simply deal contact damage
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
–Catching Bombs or Rocks will cause it to deal 20 damage to itself by accidentally hitting itself with them. The player can be hit by the rocks or bombs while retracting, however
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Rock)
–Catching any non-Boom Flies will cause it to ingest them, healing 10 health
–Catching any Boom Flies will cause Frogspawn to seemingly eat it, before spitting it back at the player. Upon hitting a wall it will die; performing whichever on-death effect the Boom Fly performs and dealing the appropriate damage if the player is nearby

Defeat:
Regular sort of death animation

Champion Variants:
-Green Champion: Doesn’t spit up flies at any point. Vomit attack releases ipecac shots. Leap attack releases green creep instead of red, but it has the same effect
-Black Champion: 15% more health (403) and is larger. Doesn’t perform the leap attack, and uses the tongue attack more often. All flies spawned from the fly spit-up attack will be regular black Boom Flies.
-Blue Champion: All attacks deal a full heart of damage, though doesn’t ever use the tongue attack. 20% less health (280) and is smaller and faster
-Red Champion: Only perform the leap and vomit attacks, and are smaller and only have 60% of their regular health (210). However, there are 2 of them in the boss room.

Extra Info:
-Frogspawn was primarily based on the Bobbins Brothers from Plok! on the initial design draft. However, it gradually looked less like them as the boss was fleshed out
–There is, however, still a reference to them in the Red Champion; who use the attacks most similar to the Bobbins Brothers, and are part of a duo
-Most champion variants of this boss are references to other things
–The blue champion’s smaller body but higher damage is a reference to the Poison Dart Frog
–The red champion, as well as being closer to the original boss inspiration, is also a reference to the red champion Monstro; a boss with some similar attacks
[Added: 27/4/21]

30 – The Croaked

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 30 - The Croaked

Appearance: A posthumous version of Frogspawn. Its protruding eyes, arms, and several of its teeth are missing and its body has become somewhat bloated. Like with several other bosses, an autopsy stitch-like marking is seen on its body.

Health: 600
Found: Depths, Necropolis, Dank Depths
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
Like Frogspawn, The Croaked will hop towards the player continuously
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may hop towards the player, though mid-jump launches a massive red shot downward that propels it higher into the air; extending the range of its jump and possibly hitting the player with the shot. The shot also leaves red creep on the ground
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shot)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-It may perform its live variant’s vomit attack; launching shots upward that fall down above the player in rapid succession. Each of these shots leaves a short-lived puddle of creep
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-It may spit out spiders. Unlike its live counterpart, there are predetermined numbers of spiders that are released instead of being mostly random
–2 Spiders
–1 Big Spider
–1 Ticking Spider
–1 Small Baby Long Legs
–1 Small Crazy Long Legs
-It may launch its tongue in one of the arena’s corners and drag it across the wall towards the player, stopping at the next corner it reaches
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Tongue)
-It may perform its live counterpart’s tongue grab attack; with mostly similar effects
–Grabbing the player deals increased damage
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Tongue)
–Grabbing rocks or bombs simply causes it to flinch instead of damaging itself
–It will eat any enemy type it can grab, though not other bosses, healing based on their current health multiplied by 2

Defeat:
Fairly standard death animation

Champion Variants:
-Grey Champion: Only use the leap and vomit attacks, is significantly smaller, and only has 40% health (240). However, there are 3 versions of the boss active at the same time
-Black Champion: Doesn’t use the vomit attack, and primarily uses the ‘tongue grab’ attack. Has 20% increased health (720) and is larger
-Purple Champion: Spawns groups of Ring Flies instead of spiders. 10% more health (660) though moves and attacks slightly slower

Extra Info:
-The boss’ name is a pun, with ‘croaked’ being a term usually used to refer to death
-The grey champion is once again a reference to the Bobbins Brothers, though this time refers to their rematch; where 3 of them are present and the game is mostly monochrome.

31 – Flytrap

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 31 - Flytrap

Appearance: A large red plant with yellow tooth-like protrusions. Its vines are covered in thorns and both surround flytrap itself and are present on the arena walls as decoration.

Health: 480
Found: Caves, Catacombs, Depths
Room: 1×2

Pattern:
The Duke of Flies will initially appear in the room, but is quickly snatched up and eaten by Flytrap. Flytrap will then remain positioned roughly 2/3rds of the way up the room. The stationary thorny vines on the ground and walls are purely decorative, with the boss’ actual attacks being more defined.

The player can only hurt Flytrap by throwing bombs, provided to the player through 2 Grimaces near the bottom corners of the arena, into its mouth. Each bomb deals a set 40 damage; effectively giving Flytrap 12 health. Chaos Card can also be used to kill Flytrap without the use of bombs, but it will simply scrunch its mouth up when attacked by the player using non-bomb attacks.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-Causes several thorny vines to sprout up from the ground beneath and near to the player
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Vines)
-May create large thorny vines that move from the walls that move to the adjacent wall in hard to predict, wavy motions similar to rock waves spawned by certain bosses
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Vines)
-May swell up before releasing a stream of either 3 Boom Flies or Red Boom Flies aimed at the player. Upon hitting the wall they die instantly; bursting into either explosions or bursts of 6 shots each
-It may release a burst of 8 shots in all directions, and then 8 more in the gaps left by the first burst
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
At half health Flytrap will use her thorny vines to break away parts of the arena floor, as well as destroy one of the 2 Bomb Grimaces, making the fight harder. Her attack pattern otherwise doesn’t change.

Defeat:
Normally withers away; the teeth in its mouth broken and jagged and its vines and leaves turning brown before it explodes.
If killed using fire, however, Flytrap will ignite and burn away into nothingness

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-The boss can be defeated without using the Bomb Grimaces given to the player, though there are only 3 major ways of doing it:
–Using a Chaos Card; which will instantly kill Flytrap as with most bosses
–Any bomb effects the player has; whether the consumable, an active item, or a tear effect that can create explosions
-Fire-themed items deal regular damage to the boss; including the Candle items and any fire effects the player’s tears may have
-The boss can, technically, be killed by its own Boom Fly attack if the player has the health or damage resistance needed: Getting close enough to Flytrap where the Boom Fly explosions can hit her and simply letting yourself get hit can net the player up to 120 damage on the boss: 1/4 of its health.

32 – The Ooze

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 32 - The Ooze

Appearance: The Ooze is mostly just black sludge, similar to enemies like Tar Boys, though it often takes a large vaguely-humanoid form

Health: 500
Found: Dank Depths
Room: 1×1

Pattern:
The floor of the arena is always covered by a slowing black creep, with the Ooze itself rising up from it during the downtime between it attacks. It is only vulnerable when fully-formed.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may spawn Clots, Tar Boys, Dank Squirts or Dank Chargers. Up to 3 enemies may be spawned before he cannot spawn anymore
-He may sink into the tar, with random positions in the arena floor beginning to bubble up. After a short time the bubbling areas erupt into streams of shots that are launched upward and fall randomly nearby
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Bubbles)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-He may, instead of submerging, hurl himself at the player; only stopping upon hitting a wall. Upon hitting the wall it will release 9 shots in a wide arc towards the centre of the room, potentially spawn a Dank Squirt, and submerge
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-It may submerge before a series of tar-coated hands begin rising from the tar. After short delays the hands close; dealing damage to Isaac if he is stood on top of one or destroying any of the enemies Ooze has spawned
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Hands)
-Jumps and lands in the tar, rapidly submerging. As he lands he creates a burst of 12 shots launched in all directions.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)

Defeat:
Lets out a muffled roar and bubbles away into the tar. Afterwards the tar/creep that coated the arena floor disappears.

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-This boss is exclusive to Dank Depths I due to the Mom fight always being present in Depths II, making this boss somewhat rare to encounter due to its limited distribution
-There was a brief idea to have the boss also spawn in the alternate floors Mausoleum and Gehenna, but this idea was scrapped since the alternate floor bosses are often exclusive to said floors

[“Arena” Fights]

Arenas would be special rooms that would begin spawning after the player has defeated all 14 of the regular and Super ‘sin’ mini-bosses, not to be confused with Boss Challenge Rooms. These rooms could spawn on any floors between Basement II and Sheol/Cathedral and would always contain one of 5 ‘Ultra Sin’ bosses; based on the 5 deadly sin mini-bosses that don’t already have Ultra variants in the game (those being Ultra Pride and Ultra Greed).

The player would enter the room and have to step in the centre of the room to begin the fight. The Ultra Sin chosen is random at first, but then will prevent the player from fighting the same Ultra Sin boss again unless the player manages to find 6 of these rooms in a run; where upon entering the 6th room the pool would refresh. This also means the 5th arena in a run will always contain the Ultra Sin not yet faced.

These bosses, instead of using base HP and stage HP, have their own health calculation that factors in:
-Base Health (HP)
-Chapter (HP x (0.5 + (X/2)))
-Runs/Re-Runs (HP x X)
-Ultra Sins beaten in the Same Run (HP x (1.2 x X)) (Only if applicable)

In simple terms:
-Base Health: The Base Health of the boss that stays constant
-Chapter: Every new Chapter (rounded to whole numbers for alternate floors) adds a 1.5x health multiplier
-Runs/Re-Runs: Every Re-Run will add another 100% extra health
-Ultra Sins beaten in the Same Run: Adds a 1.2x health multiplier every time an Ultra Sin has been beaten in the current run. Carries over from re-runs also.

E.g.: Ultra Wrath in Basement II, Not a re-run, No prior Ultra Sin defeats:
Base Health x Chapter x Runs x Ultra Sins:
30. x (0.5+1/2) x (1) x [N/A]
30. x (1) x (1)
[300 Health]

E.g.: Ultra Wrath in Depths II, Not a re-run, 2 prior Ultra Sin defeats:
Base Health x Chapters x Runs x Ultra Sins
30. x (0.5+3/2) x (1) x (1.2×2)
30. x (2) x (1) x (1.44)
[864 Health]

E.g.: Ultra Wrath in Cathedral, Re-Run 2, 7 prior Ultra Sin defeats:
Base Health x Chapters x Runs x Ultra Sins
30. x (0.5+5/2) x (3) x (1.2×7)
30. x (3) x (3) x (8.4)
[22,680 Health]
(Bearing in mind you’d have to play a very lengthy run for this, and that unlike final bosses Ultra Sins do not have damage resistance)

Ultra Sins reward the player with items related to that boss’ gimmicks/abilities when possible, though will begin to use items from the Boss item pool if their own item pool is being exhausted:
-Ultra Wrath: Bomb items; including bomb effects, Mr. Boom, Pyro, and Dr. Fetus
-Ultra Envy: Orbitals; including things like Forever Alone, Sacrificial Dagger, and Cube of Meat
-Ultra Lust: Syringe and pill items, as well as things that can grant Charm like Mom’s Eye Shadow
-Ultra Sloth: Bob items, as well as some worm-themed followers like Lil’ Chubby and the Leech.
-Ultra Gluttony: Food items, mostly health-ups and Yum Heart, as well as some bone items.

33 – Ultra Wrath

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 33 - Ultra Wrath

Appearance: A buff, charred version of Wrath. Like Super Wrath the bottom of its mask is broken, revealing a frowning mouth of jagged teeth.

Health: 300
Found: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5
Room: 1×2

Pattern:
Ultra Wrath drops from the ceiling, landing on one knee, then gets out and roars at the beginning of the fight. Unlike the other Wrath incarnations, Ultra Wrath pursues the player constantly when not attacking.
Ultra Wrath’s bombs are unaffected by Safety Scissors, despite many having the appearance of Troll Bombs
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-Jumps up and off-screen, landing on top of the player shortly after. Creates an explosion upon landing
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosion)
-Gathers a cluster of bombs in his hand and throws them at the player. They explode on impact with the ground as opposed to the usual bomb timer
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosions)
-Throws a trio of fiery bombs in an arc towards the player. Upon exploding they create a ‘+’ of flames that linger for a while

(Damage, Bomb Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosions)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Fires)
-Throws 2 homing bombs down that leave trails of creep as they travel and leave puddles of creep upon exploding
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosions)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
At 70% health he will summon a special Giga Bomb and throw it at the player; ultimately destroying part of the arena floor. These Giga Bombs will even bypass effects like Host Hat and Pyromaniac; dealing damage regardless, but cannot bypass other forms of invulnerability like Gnawed Leaf or Book of Shadows
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosion)
At 40% health he will throw another Giga Bomb at the player
Finally, at 25% health, he will drop 2 golden troll bombs that only despawn upon the fight ending. These are also the only bombs that act as regular bombs; dealing a full heart of damage regardless of floor and being affected by Safety Scissors

Defeat:
Roars, shakes, and explodes. Releases a few small cluster bombs on death around himself as well
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosions)

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Ultra Wrath utilises various different bomb types during his fight. In total homing bombs, creep bombs, fire bombs, bomber boy bombs, cluster bombs, Giga Bombs, Golden Bombs and Troll Bombs.
-Like other Wrath variants Ultra Wrath takes significantly reduced damage from his own bombs
-The floor destroyed by Ultra Wrath gets partially reformed at the end of the fight, ensuring the player does not end up softlocked
-Ultra Wrath is the only bomb-using enemy that can bypass both Safety Scissors and Host Hat/Pyromaniac with specific attacks; meaning trying to cheese the fight for free bombs doesn’t actually work
–However, Host Hat/Pyromaniac does still work for most explosions if you can avoid the damaging after-effects
–Safety Scissors do still work on the Golden Troll Bombs and the cluster bombs released at the end of the fight, however, making some of the fight easier regardless and giving the player extra bombs and even golden bombs for the current floor

34 – Ultra Envy

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 34 - Ultra Envy

Appearance: A 3-headed, deeper blue version of Envy. It has cracks around its neck and on its chest.

Health: 180
Found: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5
Room: 1×2

Pattern:
Phase 1:
Moves much like how Envy normally does, but faster; bouncing off of the arena walls while moving at 45-degree angles.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may rapidly begin to accelerate, bouncing around the arena rapidly for a while before eventually getting stuck in a random wall and stopping. After a few seconds of being stuck it pulls itself out of the wall
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-It may move towards the centre of the arena and release 3 spaced-out white brimstone lasers. It will then rotate them either 180 or 360 degrees around itself
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-It may release a projectile that looks like a grey Envy head aimed at the player that continuously releases troll bombs until it hits a wall. These troll bombs cannot hurt Ultra Envy, however.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Envy Head Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosions)
At 40% health it will detach one of its heads which splits off and becomes a Super Envy. Ultra Envy then moves to the centre of the arena and begins firing 2 brimstone lasers that rotate constantly until the Super Envy is killed.
The Super Envy is unaffected by Ultra Envy’s brimstone lasers, and will also inherit any health multipliers granted to Ultra Envy.
Once the Super Envy is killed Ultra Envy continues with its original attack pattern at a faster speed until it seemingly runs out of health.
Phase 2:
Splits into 2 Super Envys that slowly lose health, regardless of the player’s attacks. The health loss is lessened the smaller the heads get; causing the Super Envys to split faster regardless of the player’s input. Once both Super Envys are dead, the fight ends.

Defeat:
During the Phase 2 transition Ultra Envy’s body cracks and splits down the middle.
The Super Envy forms’ death animations are the same as normal.

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Ultra Envy’s brimstone attack is in reference to its ability to drop the Shoop Da Whoop item; hence the colour of the brimstone lasers when they are fired.
-The Super Envys in this fight have unique properties despite functioning almost identically to the regular mini-boss counterparts. They are immune to Ultra Envy’s brimstone lasers and inherit the same health multipliers as the other ‘Arena Bosses’, and the 2 spawned on Ultra Envy’s death slowly lose health naturally over time, regardless of player input

35 – Ultra Lust

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 35 - Ultra Lust

Appearance: A blonde-haired but faceless person with an appearance vaguely similar to the statues in the Angel Rooms. It appears to be stood on some sort of pink, fleshy pedestal obscured mostly by a mirror.

Health: 325
Found: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5
Room: 1×2

Pattern:
Phase 1:
Ultra Lust remains immobile at the top-middle of the room. 2 doors spawn to the left and right of the bottom half of the arena, which the player cannot open.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-It may call in 2 Giga Gapers from the doors at the back of the room. These Giga Gapers act like normal Gapers; chasing the player until they are killed. At half health they lose their heads and act like large Gushers; walking around randomly leaving red creep and launching shots out randomly. Boss health multiplier applies to the Giga Gapers.

-Summons beams of light at random places around the arena
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Light Beams)
-Summons several mirrors around the arena at random angles, then launches 3 white lasers randomly that can be deflected by the mirrors. After the lasers are all fired one at a time the mirrors shatter.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Mirror Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Lasers)
-Releases several wide arcs of shots at the player in succession; with each subsequent arc having 1 more projectile than the last. The first starts out with only 3 shots with the final one ends with 8.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
At 40% health the person atop the pedestal will gain wings, break away from the pedestal and fly upward; destroying the mirror and revealing Ultra Lust’s true form; a hulking pink monster
Phase 2:
Ultra Lust, now revealed, will chase the player down constantly and gains a completely new attack pattern. While chasing the player Ultra Lust leaves a lingering trail of creep behind her.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-She may vomit up large red shots towards the player that keep going until they hit a wall. Upon hitting a wall they explode into a burst of between 6-10 shots each. Usually performs this attack 2-3 times in succession
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Large Shots)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Small Shots)
-Lunges at the player; crashing into the floor after landing and sliding forward until she hits a wall. The lunge creates a massive pool of red creep, the slide creates creep, and both the initial landing after the lunge and hitting the wall will create spiked rocks around Ultra Lust briefly

Defeat:
Slams her fists into the ground, shakes, and explodes into gibs. Leaves a massive pool of creep where she explodes.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Ultra Lust’s true form, as you probably guessed, is what was initially presumed as a pedestal for the person to stand on. However, with this reveal, that still means that the person’s name is unknown.
-Like with Ultra Envy’s Super Envy spawns, Ultra Lust’s Giga Gapers inherit the same sorts of health multipliers that Ultra Lust herself receives

36 – Ultra Sloth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 36 - Ultra Sloth

Appearance:

Health: 200
Found: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5
Room: 1×2

Pattern:
Ultra Sloth remains stuck at the centre of the arena the entire fight and is immobile
Phase 1:
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
Ultra Sloth is invulnerable in this phase and will summon waves of enemies for the player to face. The enemies are mostly spawned around Ultra Sloth. The number of waves spawned depends on the Chapter the player is on; with the maximum number of waves happening after Chapter 4
-Wave 1: Chapter 1+: 4 Spits
-Wave 2: Chapter 1+: 4 Gurgles
-Wave 3: Chapter 2+: 10 Ring Flies, 2 Splashers, 2 Spits
-Wave 4: Chapter 3+: 2 Black Globin Heads, 6 Guts, 2 Gurgles
-Wave 5: Chapter 4+: 4 Poison Minds, 8 Spits
-Wave 6: Chapter 4+: 6 Gurgles, 2 Black Globin Heads, 4 Guts
Once all the waves have spawned and the player has defeated them all, Ultra Sloth will wake up properly.
Phase 2:
Ultra Sloth becomes vulnerable, but remains immobile. It will now attack the player directly as opposed to relying on minions.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-Launches countless ipecac shots upward that rain down randomly around the arena after a short delay
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Explosions)
-Launches a large stream of ipecac shots towards the player that leave damaging green creep

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-Launches a large shot that chases the player for a few seconds, leaving a trail of creep over where it moves
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shot)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-It may create a brimstone laser that continuously follows the player slowly. The brimstone lasts only a few seconds and creates random puddles of creep on the floor as it travels
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-It may spawn a few random monsters from the pool of enemies it spawned during its first phase. Most of the time it is only 1 or 2 but it will always spawn Ring Flies in groups of 4

Defeat:
Sloth slides out of the tree and… melts into a puddle of creep
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Ultra Sloth is the only boss that leaves a memento in the boss room after defeating it; being its tree. The tree remains even after the player leaves and re-enters the room, but does not deal its own contact damage.
-If encountered during a Re-Run, Ultra Sloth will always spawn the maximum number of waves
-Ultra Sloth primarily weaponises Ipecac and creep, so having explosive resistance and/or flight helps with the fight greatly

37 – Ultra Gluttony

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 37 - Ultra Gluttony

Appearance: Not much of Ultra Gluttony is seen; just 4 large doors and 2 giant hands and forearms. The hands/arms themselves are generally quite disgusting; covered in fungi and blisters and with visible blood under the fingernails

Health: 350
Found: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5
Room: 1×2

Pattern:
Ultra Gluttony spawns 4 colossal doors on the left and right walls of the arena spaced in such a way that they can theoretically reach any part of the arena; with the doors not being parallel to each other. Like with the doors spawned in the Ultra Lust fight the player cannot open these themselves in any way.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
Enemies can walk through the doors. The types of enemy are based on which sort can be found on the current floor, though weaker enemies appear more commonly. Enemies spawn often during the fight, and do so throughout the majority of the fight.
-One of Gluttony’s hands will crash into a door as a visual ‘tell’ for the player and then burst through a moment later. Anything horizontally-aligned with the door will be grabbed, dragged through, and eaten by Gluttony (aside from the player, who just takes damage and is knocked away). Gluttony heals based on the health of the enemy eaten
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-Gluttony can reach his fist through a door and slam it down, releasing a very wide arc of large shots in all directions
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-Gluttony can reach through a door with a raised hand and slam it down, damaging anything horizontally aligned with the door and leaving a thick trail of red creep as the hand is dragged back through the door
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-Gluttony can reach through a door with a hand clenched in a weak fist. Several blisters on his skin will erupt and launch ipecac-like shots randomly in all directions that leave damaging yellow creep.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)

Defeat:
Will have one final attempt at crushing the player before dragging the hand back through the door with a trail of creep and a disheartened groan
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Ultra Gluttony shares similarities with Mom; being a mostly-obscured boss who spawns enemies, attempts to crush the player, and reaches their hands through the doors to try to grab Isaac.
-Ultra Gluttony’s list of potential enemies changes based on the floor, though certain enemy types cannot appear:
–Enemies that can teleport Isaac, such as Mom’s Hand
–Invulnerable enemies such as Slide, Stone Grimace or Death’s Head
–Enemies dependent on other enemies or objects, like Homonculus and Psychic Maw

38 – Grinning Man

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 38 - Grinning Man

Appearance: A humanoid monster with an unsettling grin and crossed-out eyes. Its limbs, the arms especially, are stretched and mildly distorted, with claw-like fingers and jutting-out elbows. It has a visible stitch-like mark beneath its head.

Health: 1250
Found: Chapter 4
Room: 1×1

Pre-Fight:
The player must have defeated Hush and unlocked It Lives! before this boss can be fought.
Upon defeating It Lives! in Womb II the player must exit the boss room. Randomly on the floor they may encounter Gaper-like enemies that walk through certain doorways, ultimately leading the player to a seemingly dead-end room. Bombing one of the walls in the room will reveal a secret room with an hourglass at the centre.
If the player walks into the hourglass it will break and several Gaper-like enemies will begin emerging from the walls or dropping from the ceiling; gathering together at the top-middle of the room and ultimately forming the Grinning Man; who screeches at Isaac and begins the fight

Pattern:
Moves towards Isaac, though its movement is staggered and it never pursues Isaac at a consistent speed. Sometimes stops moving to shudder before continuing its pursuit.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
Can perform the following attacks at any time:
-It may begin chasing the player at a consistently high speed for a while, leaving a short-lived trail of damaging red creep
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-It may stop, shriek, and lunge at the player; covering a great distance very quickly. It usually stops upon hitting the wall, which stuns it briefly
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
-It may hunch over, spewing out a large puddle of red creep and 1-2 Black Globin Heads
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-It may hunch over, spewing out several Gaper-like enemies with increased health
-It may vomit a large barrage of fast-moving shots towards the player
At 50% health or below it will also perform these attacks:
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-It may jump off-screen and land down on top of the player up to 4 times in succession, leaving puddles of creep wherever it lands
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Creep)
-It may release large, fleshy tendrils from its stomach towards the player that travel until they get stuck in a wall. Up to 5 are launched before they all retract back into the Grinning Man’s body
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Tendril Contact)
-It may move to the centre of the room and shriek, causing several high-health Gaper-like enemies to begin emerging from the walls towards it. Any that reach the Grinning Man will be consumed and heal him 25 health back.

Defeat:
Shakes, clutches its face, and lets out one final loud shriek before it explodes into gibs and Gapers. The Gapers spawned on its death simply flop onto the ground and cannot move or hurt the player, but can still be killed if attacked.
A reformed/repaired version of the hourglass will appear in the room, starting from the 5th time the player defeats the Grinning Man. The 1st-4th times simply unlock a new item before letting the player continue along other routes to Chapter 5 or Hush.

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Picking up the Hourglass spawned after the 5th kill (or later) will take the player to a floor called the Blank Space; used to ultimately reach another ending
-The Grinning Man’s Gapers seen wandering about Womb II cannot normally be killed as they immediately try to walk out of a room. They will only appear in cleared rooms as well, meaning locked doors will not stop them. They can be killed with a Chaos Card or high DPS, but this doesn’t do anything
-Originally, the Grinning Man and its subsequent floor were planned to be a branching path off of Depths. However, this was changed due to this otherwise being the theoretically shortest path in the game with only 4 chapters (even if the 4th was lengthier than normal).

39 – Ultra Conquest (& Madame Grim)

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 39 - Ultra Conquest (& Madame Grim)

Appearances:
Ultra Conquest seems to primarily be a larger, stronger version of the Conquest boss. It has additional bandages around its chest and hands alongside its usual blindfold.
Madame Grim seems to be a pale lady in a cloak wearing a skull mask. Despite having Horseman qualities she rides a scythe instead of another horse.

Health: Conquest: 2500, Grim: 2500
Found: Blank Space
Room: 2×1

Pre-Fight:
After taking the Grinning Man’s hourglass unlocked after his 5th defeat the player is teleported to a new floor, simply called ‘Blank Space’
The floor is generally quite large, comparable in size to the Void, though most of its basic rooms contain bosses in a fashion moreso similar to the Chest and Dark Room. Also, like the Chest, 4 gold chests containing items will spawn in the room the player starts in
The boss room requires a special key to access that can only be found in one of the rooms furthest from the boss room itself; forcing the player to explore the floor more in-depth. Unlike the Chapter 6 floors any chest drops from clearing rooms do not give increased chances to be given items
Entering the boss room with the key starts the boss fight as normal

Pattern:
Both Ultra Conquest and Madame Grim have different attack patterns and will usually alternate between which one is attacking the player. If one is defeated the other will attack more often to compensate
Ultra Conquest
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-Aligns with the player and performs a horizontal charge that goes off-screen. Smaller pale white versions of Ultra Conquest will begin appearing from either the left or right arena walls; charging in the same direction at high speed and creating trails of shots behind them that don’t move and simply fall down after a short time
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Mini-Conquest Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-Releases 4 streams of purple projectiles that start off in the cardinal directions before Conquest rotates them all 180 degrees. These shots will move towards the player with a mild homing effect if they are too close.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-Disappears before summoning several beams of light from the sky in various positions around the arena. The amount of beams will increase as Ultra Conquest loses health
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Light Beams)
-He may summon a large ring of purple shots that rotate around the centre of the arena; though the ring is large enough that it goes just past the top and bottom walls of the arena. The ring will rotate and will persist until the next attack is launched at the player; with the ring gradually growing or shrinking to trap the player if the player gets too close to it.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-Can summon 2-3 versions of the Knight enemy that charge at the player and only stop when they hit a wall, where they explode and release shots in the cardinal directions. They cannot be destroyed by the player; but destroy themselves after hitting a wall.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Knight Contact)
-Can summon a ‘snake’ of shots that initially move horizontally across the room in a straight line starting from either the left or right wall. However, if it is ever aligned with the player at a 90-degree angle it will make a sharp turn towards them. After a few seconds the snake will stop growing and the shots, starting from the tail, will rapidly begin to gain homing properties and begin falling.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
Madame Grim
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-She may summon a row of scythes on either the top or bottom of the arena that move vertically; forcing the player to destroy some of them to pass through unharmed
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Scythes)
-She may slow down time for the duration of the next attack, like Death’s hourglass ability
-She may summon transparent skull-like enemies that fly in from off-screen from random places and move in straight lines randomly across the arena. She will summon more of them at a time as she loses health
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Skulls)
-She may summon scythes around the player that accelerate inwards. The first group of 4 are cardinal to the player, the next 4 ordinal, and the final 4 cardinal again. They will accelerate towards the player’s position after a short time, though do not have actual homing properties
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Scythes)
-She may summon several scythes around the arena randomly that accelerate towards the player after a short time
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Scythes)
-She may begin performing rapid horizontal dashes at the player; charging all the way across the screen every charge and re-adjusting her horizontal position each time. The speed of the charges increases every charge until the final charge; where she rapidly decelerates when near the centre of the room
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)

Defeat:
Both of them will burst into streams of pillars of light when defeated; with Ultra Conquest releasing streams of light pillars in the cardinal directions and Madame Grim releasing them in the ordinal directions
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Light Beams)
Defeating them both will cause the item Dogma to be left on an item pedestal which, when picked up, will reveal the doorway to the true boss of Blank Space

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Ultra Conquest was inspired by the other Ultra Harbinger bosses, and also the fact that unlike Pestilence Conquest was one of the actual Biblical harbingers
–Also, much like the Ultra Harbingers, Ultra Conquest is merely a buildup to a far more powerful boss
–Madame Grim, on the other hand, was basically just a Marvel reference and thus has less cool origins
-Originally this fight only consisted of Ultra Conquest who also had less attacks, though with Madame Grim’s addition the fight was generally more fleshed-out
-Death and Conquest being put in the same fight was a reference to the fact that their boss locations overlap in Chapter 4.

40 – Father Time

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1 - 40 - Father Time

Appearance: A colossal skeletal creature with both human and serpentine elements. Two horns protrude from its head above its eye sockets, though most of the rest of its upper body looks like a human skeleton. Its lower body, however, seems to be a very lengthy spine that stretches on several times longer that the rest of Father Time’s body with no lower limbs; giving it an almost snake-like appearance.

Health: 10,000
Found: Blank Space
Room: 2×2*
[*The size of the room fluctuates during the fight]

Pattern:
Phase 1: (10,000/10,000 HP)
The player will be flying over a black pit filled with a black oily liquid with what appears like stars visible within. The arena has no visible walls, though reaching the 2×2 room boundary simply pushes the player inwards.
Father Time remains in the centre of the room in this phase
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(General Contact Damage)
-He may release several rapid-fire bursts of shots that rotate as they disperse outwards
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-He may fire a giant brimstone-like laser towards the player that has a pseudo-Continuum effect; wrapping around the arena for a 2nd time. There is a slight delay before the 2nd laser and its path is pre-revealed by a thin purple line.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-He may create a complex pattern of shots in an almost flower-like formation, consisting of 6 main ‘branches’ of shots that each split and reform with another branch by the end
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-He may summon pillars from the ground in the ordinal directions, starting from the outside of the arena and working inwards. Each of these releases 4 brimstone-like lasers in the cardinal directions before disappearing
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Pillar Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-Causes several white spikes to protrude from the pit randomly around the arena up to 3 times in rapid succession. These can still hit the player despite having flight.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Spikes)
-Creates a geyser of greyish white shots that randomly rain down around the arena. After a short delay pillars of light erupt from where the shots landed.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Light Pillars)
-It may sink into the pit. Afterwards it will continuously ram its tail up from the pit beneath the player; trying to jab them with its pointed tail. The final jab will have a longer delay than the others and will try to predict the player’s movement; stabbing upwards based on where the player would be if they continued travelling in the same distance at the same speed
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
At 6,500 health Father Time will disappear and create a small platform at the centre of the arena that the player is dragged onto. Once the player is on the platform he re-emerges and enters his 2nd phase.
Phase 2: (6,500/10,000 HP)
The player is restricted to only being able to move around on the platform, which is roughly the size of a 1×1 room. Father Time spends most of the time above the platform.
-Fires 6 brimstone shots downward initially. After a short delay it launches 6 more brimstone lasers a little more spread-out, and finally a 3rd arc of widely spread-out brimstone lasers that even reach the top corners of the platform
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-He may perform his Phase 1 continuum brimstone attack; though the reduced arena size makes it even deadlier
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-He may launch grinning skulls at the player that decelerate before exploding into 8 shots each. Up to 4 of these are launched per attack
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Skull Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-He may slam down one of his hands onto the platform; creating 6 rock waves. The rock waves are initially evenly spaced-out, but have a random degree of offset to make them less predictable
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Hand Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Rock Waves)
-He may make his hands appear at the sides of the arena, aligned horizontally with the player, and ‘clap’ them together. The ‘clap’ launches rock waves vertically.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Hand Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Rock Waves)
At 4,000 health he will sink into the pit again and submerge the platform also. The stars seen within the oily substance in the pit will begin to resemble Isaac’s face as 9 smaller platforms, spaced in a 3×3 grid, emerge. The 9 platforms are all also connected with land bridges. Like with Phase 2 the player is forcibly dragged onto the nearest platform and cannot fly over the pit in this phase

40 – Father Time (Continued)

Phase 3: (4,000/10,000 HP)
Father Time will now submerge and re-emerge randomly around the arena with every new attack
-He may slam down one of his hands onto one of the arena platforms and submerge it and part of any land bridges connecting it. If the player is on one of the submerged parts of the platform they will take damage and be thrown out of the pit onto a nearby platform
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Hand Contact)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Submerged)
-He may emerge from the pit aligned with a row of platforms and fire a colossal brimstone laser across all 3. This attack will also forcefully push the player away from Father Time and may trap them in the laser if caught near the centre when it was fired, dealing additional damage.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-He may fire one of his Phase 1 continuum brimstone lasers at the player, followed by a 2nd one while the first laser is wrapping around. Then, after the 2nd laser has finished wrapping around, he will fire 3 brimstone lasers in an arc that also have a continuum effect; though have a longer delay before they wrap around
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
-May fire a brimstone laser upwards that lands on a random one of the 9 platforms. The laser also releases 8 rotating streams of shots that accelerate as they travel
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Brimstone)
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
-He may submerge and summon several monochrome Isaacs out of the pit that wildly run across all of the land bridges; dealing contact damage if the player was on a land bridge at the time
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, ‘Isaac’ Contact)
-He may summon numerous pillars of light around the arena that decrease in density the further away from Father Time they are.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Light Pillar)
-He may release several rapid-fire bursts of shots that rotate as they disperse outwards, like in Phase 1, though the time between each burst is reduced significantly making them more compact
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
Once reduced to under 1,000 health Father Time will enter his 4th and final phase; with the platforms sinking again and the player having free flight throughout the 2×2 room, at least initially.
Phase 4: (999/10,000 HP)
Father Time returns to the centre of the arena. He will begin absorbing everything; pulling the player towards him
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Contact)
During this time he will begin releasing random shots outwards in all directions constantly; greatly increasing in quantity as he loses health
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth TBoI Boss Ideas 2 - Part 1
(Damage, Shots)
Furthermore, as Father Time loses health, the arena will begin to shrink gradually again; forcing Isaac to get close and closer to him the less health he has left. This eventually culminates in a room a little larger than a 1×1 room at <100 health left.

Defeat:
Father Time will roar and begin sinking down into the pit slowly and the stars/Isaac faces in the pit disappear gradually. Once Father Time is gone a small, roughly 2×2 platform will emerge at the centre of the now-otherwise-barren room. Stepping onto the platform will progress to the final cutscene.

Stepping onto the platform causes Isaac’s wings to disappear, regardless of character, and the platform will crumble away. Everything will turn black, where it will remain for a few seconds. Then a pillar of light breaks the darkness and Isaac, with wings again, flies upward in a fashion similar to the Isaac boss fight before properly ending the game.

The Ending cutscene puts Isaac in what seems to be the past; with his Dad present and him not being locked in a toy chest anymore. Isaac looks outside to see what seems to be autumn time; with the normally dead-looking trees outside his house having orange and red leaves on them. The ending, like some of the other ending cutscenes, is somewhat vague as to what happens next.

Champion Variants:
-[None]

Extra Info:
-Father Time was initially planned for the first version of the TBoI Boss Ideas page, though was scrapped in place of the Dreamer due to me wanting to keep the number of final bosses per page very limited and also because the Dreamer had a more fleshed-out fight initially.
–Also fairly interesting that I did that considering one of the new endings to the game added in Repentance
-Father Time is one of few bosses actually capable of altering the size of its boss room. Another good example would be Mother’s 2nd phase.
-Father Time’s use of grinning skulls and pillars of light may be references back to the bosses the player needs to face in order to reach him; the Grinning Man and Ultra Conquest

[Final Notes]

Well I hope you enjoyed. I know there’s a little less polish on this one then with some of my other pages due to university stuff still happening in the background meaning I have to alternate between tasks often and have generally less time for personal projects, but I still hope that the ideas on this page were at least interesting and worth a bit of a read.

Also, for anyone wondering about the Terraria Boss Ideas and found this under my guides I can tell you that all 20 bosses have sprites and are having fights and stats designed as we speak as well. Once that is done I can start putting that page together as well. I haven’t forgotten about it 😛

Like the first TBoI Boss Ideas page this one will also have a 2nd part which has been mostly designed already, though sprites and character profiles need to be finished a bit first before I can properly think about uploading it. The Tainted characters Repentance added has also thrown a wrench into the mix as the term goes as I now have to think of interesting gimmicks for effectively twice as many characters, but I’ll try and manage 🙂

Feel free to check out the previous TBoI Boss Idea pages I made a few months back. Note that Repentance wasn’t out yet and I hadn’t played Antibirth due to it being incompatible with Afterbirth+ at the time, so there might be a few coincidental similarities here and there, though I hope they’re still decent

Anyways that’s enough rambling now, hope to see you next time 🙂
