A guide on how to fix your savefile if you are experiencing the “Corrupt Data” issue when trying to join co-op/multiplayer.

Fix

The “Corrupt Data” multiplayer bug that people have been seeing is caused due to choosing a custom skin tone during character creation. When attempting to start multiplayer, it checks for tampered data and incorrectly identifies the skin tone as invalid if it’s not one of the preset skin tones.

This can now be fixed (for free) using the following tool: https://github.com/AsteriskAmpersand/MHST2-Save-Tools

Steps:
1. Go to your steam userdata folder and backup your data. (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{YOUR STEAMID}\1277400\remote)
2. Download the latest MHST2-Save-Tools. You need BOTH .exe files!
3. Start AAStories2SaveTool.exe and select the mhr_slot_x.sav file as the input and output.
4. Enter your SteamID64 (can be found on a site like https://steamid.io/ or https://www.steamidfinder.com/)
5. Click “Fix Save” and choose a skin tone preset for your character.
6. Start the game like normal
