This guide is intended for people who have a great connection, are near servers, and have a high ping. This guide is not suitable for you if your internet is slow, or you experience lag often.
Context & Explanation
I live in Australia, close to Melbourne. I get between 300-450 ping from connecting to WW1 AU servers. These are the only games affected by this issue. All other games, including COD, Siege Battlefield Fortnite, Fortnite, Apex, and COD, have a normal, around 15-22 ping.
If this sounds familiar, it is because your ISP is routing data through an out-of-region server and sending it back where your local servers are. This is why you are getting pings in the hundreds. Instead of routing your data from your computer to the server, it's going around the world to get back to the servers.
After trying a lot of things, I tried a VPN tonight. It fixed my ping, at least in part. I am now able play at a good 51-ping stable, with no lag… The only problem is that I need to have a paid VPN subscription if I want to play Isonzo.
This is a temporary solution to a long-term issue.
VPN Free Trial
NordVPN can be downloaded on your android phone and you will get a 7-day free trial.
Register, create an account and sign up to start the trial. Once you are done, log on the NordVPN website and download your desktop version. Log in to make it work.
DO NOT FORGET to CANCEL YOUR TRIAL ON ANDROID APP STATEMENT BEFORE YOU ARE CHARGED.
Once the desktop version is installed, log in, follow the setup security guides, and you can pick the location of your server. Melb was my choice because that's where Isonzo servers are. Now let it all connect. Then, check in game.
If you are having the exact same problem as me, your Ping should drop to between the hundreds and 20-60 ping.
