Some notes

Some notes before you start the guide.

  • The game is very generous with collectibles. It’s possible to finish the game without a guide and collect everything yourself.
  • All the pills in each tape can be obtained by defeating the boss. This is much easier than trying track them down while they attack you. However, it will require some additional backtracking.
  • All the pills can easily be found using that mirror shard from the first tape. It will reveal the pills as light-blue objects if you use it to look around.
  • You can replay tapes if you’ve forgotten any pills. However, you will have to go through the story section.
  • There are two pills in the bas*ment. It becomes inaccessible once the fourth tape is finished. These pills can be obtained immediately after the first tape is finished, so ensure you get them as soon as possible.

Apartment Building – First Visit

Pill #1 – Fastonyde

The first pill is ready in a matter of minutes. You will need access to the laundry area to activate the elevator’s fuse. In some boxes, you can find the pill on top by going parkour.

Pill #2 – Detectynol

Next, you’ll need to play for a while until you go through your tape and a*semble the pistol. After a*sembling the pistol, the next pill will be available in the bas*ment workshop. The barrel is located next to oil and wooden boards. Simply shoot the barrel to destroy them and get the pills.

Continue on down the corridor. Next, use your pistol to shoot the vent in top left of the room. Grab the pill by climbing on the boxes.

Take the elevator to reach the first floor. Turn right towards the maintenance area after you’ve left the elevator. Shoot the barrel at end of the hallway to reveal the pill.

This is all the medication available in the apartment right now. Virginia’s tape can be picked up and taken to the apartment.

Virginia’s Tape Homa-Mart

First, go through the level without stopping until you reach the Mirrors. This level requires a HomaMart Coin to obtain. These coins are available at cash registers by scanning cards containing a certain dollar amount. These cards will only be created if you have pa*sed through the registers once. You don’t even need all the cards – you only need the $0.50, $1, or $1.99 cards. However, when you use the mirror shard to see around, they glow white.

The $1 card can also be found near the shutters to section food.

The $0.50 credit card can be found near the other entrance of the food section.

You can find the $2 card just before the cash registers. But you don’t need it. The final $1.99 card is not available until later in this level.

Go to the cash registers. The cash register at the back requires $4. To get the coin scan the $1 card 4x or the $2 card 2x. The next one will need $5. Scave the $1 card five times or… The next register will need $2.50, while the final one will require $3.99. However, it isn’t yet available (, it’s tied to story progress and not a tablet).

The Homa-Mart coins allow us to get some pills finally.

Pill #1 – Vitalyxe

You will find the shopping carts at the HomaMart entrance. Open the carts with one of your coins and you will be able to retrieve the first pill.

Continue on the left side of the main area. A photo booth is located at the back. You will need to activate the coin with one of your coins. Wait for your photo to be taken. Once you have picked up the photo, turn around and the pills will be in front.

Continue down the hall and open the door that leads to the staff area on the right. The pill is located in a drawer on the back wall of the kitchenette.

Pill #9 – Fastonyde

The staff room also has an interoperable vending machine. It is not electrocuted. Enter the East Wing hallway from the end. Go to the power room to the left. Turn off the power to staff room (lever 4) and then go back to staff room to insert the coin into the vending machine. It doesn’t have the power to dispense the pill. Go back to the power-room and turn the power on again. Then, immediately turn it off so you can grab your pill.

Pill #10 – Enduramyn

Next, some story progression. You can use the mirrors to attack Watcher and gain access to the West Wing. Parkour will be required to get the next pill. Halfway through West Wing, enter Maintenance Closet. From there, climb up some boxes, cross some pipes, and onto the roof of your freezer. The next pill will be found at the end.

You will need a forklift in the loading area to raise a gate. To reach this pill, you can climb up on the forklift.

The warehouse will have a small section that is fenced off to the rear left. To find the last pill, enter the small maze and enter it.

After you have left your office, turn left. Cut the yellow tape in front. Follow the staircase up to the top. You will need to jump and time your grab to obtain the pill.

Virginia’s record – A Doll’s House

Go left from the elevator and take the elevator up to the first floor. Go back to Virginia’s apartment. With the shard, you can now cut the yellow paper. You can now use the shard to examine the broken mirror. The key will allow you to open the door behind it. Make sure to return it to the office in your record player.

Straighten from Virginia’s place and go straight until you reach the Utility Room. Break the tape on your left and use the gas mask to navigate the pipes and locate the pill.

Head to the map room at the center of the area. The fake wall can be seen on the map. The shard can be used to destroy the wall. Inside is the pill.

You will find the Reception Room on your right, still on the Main Lobby’s lower floor. Grab some boxes and smash a grate to find a HomaMart coin. To get a prescription, you can use this at the Main Lobby vending machine.

Return to the top section in the main lobby. You will find another HomaMart coin on the left balcony. It can be used on the vending machines to get a pill of choice.

First, you will need to lure the main enemy at the level to destroy the boxes. This can be annoying or difficult, especially if you are on higher difficulty. You can wait until you defeat the Shade to break all the boxes.

Continue on the beach until you reach the shed at the end. Parkour across some crates of water, and use your gas mask and gas mask to traverse through the container until you reach the end.

Go up the hill. At the junction, turn left. You will find the pill in the cave-in at end of road.

Continue on to the opposite side of this intersection and you will come across an area in which cars have begun sinking into the asphalt. One of these trucks has the pill in it. You can climb to the top, then lower down on the back onto a wooden palette and enter the truck.

Look to the left of a wooden shed from the courtyard’s central generator. A wooden box blocks the area where the pill is kept. You can drag the shade across the wooden box to destroy it. Then, hop inside and grab the pills.

You will reach a section in which you must run and scramble along the cliffside, while being bombarded by projectiles of the Shade. After some parkour, this outcrop will be supported by wooden beams. To reach the pill, jump to your left and then across. It will begin to slide down when you get close, but you are able to inch your way up onto the edge of it to reach it.

Continue to fight your way along this stretch of beach. This area will eventually be marked with a red light. The pill is hanging from the rib cage of the whale skeleton. It’s impossible to reach it while standing in the oil. However, you can use the mirror to reveal a hidden path and retrieve the pill.

Once you have the flare gun, continue along the beach. Turn left at the point where the darkness must be shot to destroy the Pier. There is another whale skull with a small amount of darkness inside. Use the flare gun to shoot it, then go inside and you’ll find the pill at a end of a container red.

You will eventually need to climb up a crane. The counterweight of a crane is where the pill is located. You can reach it by carefully maneuvering your way across the beams.

The Shade will be attacking you once more after you have fled from the warehouse. You can lure it by destroying some boxes near the gate that connects the area where you entered to the wharf with the crane area. You can shoot the boards that block the window by going through. Find the pill inside the house by returning to the front.

Once you have reached the generator with the red light, you will see another stack. Now you know what to do. Use the Shade to eliminate them, then climb up on the beam that was dropped. Another crate stack will be visible as you go through the container. Continue climbing up until you reach the last level.

Apartment Building – Third visit

The flare gun can be used to obtain a few more pills inside the apartment building. But first…

Allen’s Record: Bottom of the Pit

Go down to the second floor. Turn left and return to Allen’s place. Go right and photograph the darkness blocking your attic stairs. You can navigate through boxes in the attic to reach a hole in floor. This will allow you to clear more darkness from the ground floor. Go back down and you will now be able to access the fenced area at the back. Open the door to your left and shoot another flare through that hole in the wall. Return to the hallway and enter into the newly opened area. Proceed straight ahead and shoot one final patch of darkness before you reveal Allen’s bed.

Go down to the reception. A wall of lockers is located to the left side of the front desk. One of these lockers is open, and a board blocks it from behind. Use your gun to shoot the board, and then use a flare to break through. You can find another Homa Mart coin by going into the Mail Room. For another pill, you can use it again at the vending machines.

Pill #18 – Enduramyn

Remember the fake wall that you saw in the Map Room. Return to the Map Room and follow the tunnel until you reach the end. Another fake wall is located at the end, which you can destroy using your mirror shard. Use a flare on the other side to lighten the darkness. To break the gate, shoot another flare above the fence. Break the boards that block the hole in the wall. Then, shoot another flare into the hole to lift the pill up. You will need to grab the pill in midair.

To retrieve Max’s tape, you will need to go to the right-hand side corridor. An open vent can be found in the left-hand wall at the end. Use a flare to open the Janitor’s Closet located in the maintenance area. Grab the pill from the other side by turning around.

After using the rail car to jump over a fence, unblock the rest the train house, you will see a window at far wall that has been blocked by some boards. Destroy them and then shoot the barrel on your left. Then head out of train house. The container to your right is now open. To find a tablet, go through the container and all the ways around behind the train station.

Pill #3 – Fastonyde

Play on until the Bull is released from its cave, and then return to the train yard. The pill is hidden in a red railway car without a roof. It can be found in the front left corner. There are no nearby objects to climb on, but you can shoot at the Bull to disable the Bull nearby and then use the Bull’s eyes for help. If this seems too bothersome, you can always come back after crafting the lure pills and use one of those to pacify Bulls and climb it. You can also wait until you defeat the Bull to use the lure pills to make another attempt. Then, a stack of crates magically appears next to the railcar that you can climb onto.

Pill #4 – Vitalyxe

The powerstation has the next pill. After you’ve lowered some bollards with your 2V chip, you can use the Bull to ram through a gate. Parkour across several electrified obstacles is required in this area. At the end of the section, you will reach a section fenced off with several large transformers that can be climbed on. These can be used to reach the big, metal beam along the edge. Then follow the beam to reach another beam which will take you out the transformer yard. You will find the pill at the top of an electrical pole. You can reveal the pill using your mirror shard, then shoot it down with your pistol.

Pill #5 – Fastonyde

This pill can take some time to reach. You will need the 3V chip for the elevator to reach the second story. Once there, parkour through the ventilation shaft to find a key to an incineration area. Then, go through the incineration space to open another route up to the first floor. Finally, grab the 3Vchip to reuse, as you now have another route.

Go to the a*sembly room with the 3V chip. The socket is located in the far left corner of the room behind the fence. The chip should be inserted and then taken out immediately. When you return, the gate will be open and the pill will be at your side.

You’ll eventually reach third floor. Make sure that you have all three of the chips in your inventory. Grab the key card from Archives. You will need three sockets to place your chips on this floor. 3V in socket closest to lab, 2V at the one just behind the fence and 1V in the socket next to the laboratory door. The key card on the keycard reader will give you the key code and the next three pills are waiting for your on a desk at end of room.

Now it’s time for a little backtracking after crafting the lure pills. Go back to the little yard before the Power Station. There is an oil puddle below the ground that covers the entrance to the railcar. You can use a lure tablet to break the oil and locate the pill inside.

After luring Bull to leave the factory grounds, move straight ahead instead of following rail tracks. A locomotive will lead you to a lake that has a small island in its middle and tall stacks full of crates. Lure the Bull here to smash the crate columns, then use the cranes to reach the central island that will contain the next pill.

Follow the railway track to the top of the map. It will travel into a tunnel blocked by a fence. Lure the Bull here to destroy the fence and retrieve the pill.

Pill #12 – Enduramyn

Once you get to the quarry processing area, follow the water over the pipes. It’s possible to lower the water level, but you’ll likely take some damage. The conveyor will be at your feet. Proceed half way up towards the chute. Next, cross the gap between the railings and follow a narrow beam to reach the other conveyor. You will encounter a problem when the elevator is trying to descend to the first level. Tonia will rescue your safety and then you will need to escape through some vents. You can then take the elevator back up the second floor. You will see the last Homa-Mart Coin through the bars. With some quick timing, it is possible to grab it. This should already be known.

You can return to the Utility Room at the back left. This is where you used your gas mask to grab a tablet. Toss a lure into the oil to break the crates at back and reveal another pill.

Max’s Record: Is it me?

Go back into Max’s apartment in East Hallway. Toss another lure pill into Max’s truck, then get into the truck and drive through Maddy’s bedroom. The record is at the desk. Get back in your truck and reverse it to get out of this room.

To access the radio, you must turn left at a Ranger Cabin. You’ll find a generator at the back and an open door. Climb some shelves to look through the window. You can climb to the top of the cabin by using the crates in the back. When you reach the attic, the bathroom doors will be open. The pill is in a bathtub.

Pill #2 – Vitalyxe

Instead of going back towards Central Bridge, turn right and return to the beginning area. Look to the right and you’ll see a large electrical pole lying on top of the ground. The Flash has opened up this area, which was previously blocked by a fence. The pole is electrified and contains the pill at its very tip. However, there are many boards across the pole for you parkour over to reach it.

After leaving the area surrounding the electrified Pole from the south, walk straight ahead and around some rocks. This one is still standing. Use your radio or radio to open it and locate the pill.

Just after entering Forest West, you will see a lake on your right with half-submerged houses and wooden boards. Jump over the floating board to reach the pillow at the roof of one house.

Pill #5 – Vitalyxe

After you have completed the Water Treatment Facility, grab the valve to return to the Forest Central area. The path that leads upwards to a water source is located across from the place where you found your previous pill. Use the valve on the valve to raise your bucket and locate the pill.

Pill #6 – Enduramyn

It will take some time to get to the next one. You will need to pa*s through the Water Treatment Facility and get the code from a water tower. Then, go to a Cable Car Station and wait for it to come down while you are attacked by the Flash. To send the cable car back down, use the lever on the inside. Then, jump quickly out. You can jump across the cable car to find it on the other side.

Pill #7 – Detectynol

Keep going through the story. In a PTSD hallucination sequence, you’ll visit a Visitor Center. During this sequence you will pick up three keys. You can use keys A and B to move the story along, but you can also use key B to open the gate at the Visitor Center for a lookout. The pill is located on the ground next to a memorial plate.

While the Flash is constantly attacking you, finding the next two pills can be quite difficult. These pills might be worth saving for when the Flash is defeated at the end of each level.

Pill #8 – Fastonyde

Continue on until reaching the eastern part of the forest. You will see a map once you have opened a gate. You will find a playground with a few holes in it. The pill is located on one of these picnic benches.

Pill #9 – Fastonyde

Continue on the little path that runs south towards the river. A blue shipping container will be found on the top of a hill. The container is completely sealed off. However, you can use your mirror shred to reveal a device that you can turn on using your radio. You can also see a hole in its lead plating, through which you can access the device. This opens the container’s front doors, and the pill can be found inside.

Keep following the path to the bridge over the river. Use your radio to open the bridge’s gates towards the mine, then follow the path to the minefield until you find the pill near the cave.

Continue the story until the code is received from the church tower. The roof will reveal a dark patch in the cemetery. Use the flare gun to shoot it, and then turn on the radio to reveal Rosemary’s record.

After you have pa*sed the graveyard, enter the crypt. You will need to traverse the coffins along the first floodlit hallway. Then, you’ll find a brick in a wall by using your mirror shard. Push it to open the secret entrance that leads to a pill.

Turn left out of your office and go up towards the roof. You probably saw these two locked areas earlier. You can now use your radio and open the locked areas to grab the last two pills.

Lucas’s Record: Me and the Boys

You can return to Lucas’s apartment by going back down to the first floor via the elevator. The record can be found in a sealed chest in back of the room. You will need your radio to activate several devices. They will be located near the front entrance. This is similar as what you did with Lucas’s tape. Some of them require you to be able to activate from a certain angle, such if you are standing on some boxes or crawling into a fireplace.

Desmond’s record – Here Comes A Savior

You will first need to play the rainbow tape to record the final track. Tonia will give you your key to your apartment’s bedroom once you’ve completed it. It’s on the same level as your office. Go there, open the bedroom and use the flare gun to remove any darkness. Finally, locate the final record from the game in the cabinet back.
