The avatar creation tool gets replaced by the game after the purchase. It seems that there is no way to access the avatar code if it hasn't been saved. But I have a way to get it!
 

Secondary Account

First, you will have to create a secondary account. Or you can use an existing one. The account must not have access to the entire game.
 
 
 

Install The Avatar Maker!

This account doesn't have access to the main game. You can install avatar creator! Do it now.
 
 
 

Return to the Main Page

Once you have downloaded and installed the full game, you can switch back to your main Steam account. You will now have both the full version of the game and the avatar maker in your Steam library. Open the avatar creator to see the previous avatars you've created. Grab the key and import it.
 
 
 

Can I not install Epic or Microsoft Store version ?

It didn't work! I had to create another avatar. As this guide was created, this didn't seem like a feasible option.
