Hello,

Although the Cr-8 tutorial provides a good overview of some of its most basic mechanics, it feels like the finer details of how components and charges work aren’t explained. Also, the test button doesn’t seem to trigger all of its intended functions. The game may not explain everything, but some of its more complicated mechanics can be extremely useful.

Doubles as a handy catalog of components divided into somewhat arbitrary groups.

I am still working on several of the components. At least one part is still missing.

The basics, with a few universal-ish gimmicks

– Most components will behave as you’d expect them to, based on their description and the tutorial. But they become less intuitive when you use them in ways other than what the game “expects.” This generally means that if the charge hits a component from an unexpected side, such as the side or toggle of a repeater, it will not cause any harm and the charge will continue its original course. This is a valuable feature to exploit with all rotators (except toggler possibly) if a charge needs to be rotated and another charge needs to continue straight.

– While you can generate multiple charges at the same time, only one charge will move at once. The next charge “in order” will move as soon the previous charge has dissipated. It is not clear how the game determines which charge will activate next, but it looks like this:

1: Activate all charges that come from a particular source in order of activation. Each charge that comes from a particular source takes priority until they are all gone. In this example, there is a core at the bottom, a repeater in middle, and a splitter above. When activated, it works in three steps.

1a. Core activates and fires 3 charges. It hits the repeater which destroys it to generate 3 weaker charges.

1b: The repeater generates 3 separate charges. One hit the splitter and generates two charges. However, as the repeater still carries more charges, the splitter does not do anything until the repeaters turn. Once all three charges from the repeater hit the splitter, it is over.

1c: Now that the splitter is ready, it fires three charges total (. However, it won’t split any) charges because all of them are going left. if all the charges were of at least 2 strengths it would have fired six, left/right/left/right/left/right since it favors the left from this orientation and because it was activated 3 separate times.

2: If there is more than one charge generated from multiple sources simultaneously, activate them from top to bottom. If multiple are in the same row, activate them all from left to right. In this example, the jagged blade will activate all the cores simultaneously. If there are multiple charges generated by different sources, activate them from top to bottom. If more than one row is active, activate the highest on the right.

Remember that if you touch a toggle from the closed side, it won’t toggle.

It is possible to refresh with coal. However, if this is your only resetting, you will be net zero in energy.

Anything that comes out of a splitter, repeater, or other device is a new charge. This means it is trivially possible to go infinite using one of these simple loops.

Although it does not destroy charges, the charges it generates “inherit”, which means that the distance traveled by the charge it generates is a charge. You can still use it to smash down a ray gun or defensive grid and still reap the full benefits.

The booster charges are new, so you can quickly go infinite.

Despite the appearance of having a “front” side, it doesn’t. You can use any side.

Advanced charge spamming/buffing

I haven’t tried this one yet, so not sure if it will charge new charges or inherit distance traveled.

As mentioned in the tutorial, a 3 charge will yield 2 charges of 2 strength.

The tutorial doesn’t mention that if it receives 1 charge, it will only redirect it, not split it in 2 instances of 1 strength charge, making infinites marginally harder.

The charge will always fire from the middle if it enters from either the left- or right-side. If the charge is entered from the middle side, it will always fire from the left.

New charges inherit distance travelled and count as new booster charges.

As stated previously, the repeater/splitter will not reset charges’ distance traveled. So if you feel the need to, place one of these guys next to the other.

Probably easily re-energized with coal.

Although it is not technically a part, I thought this was worth mentioning. It allows you to refresh one use-per-turn components such as the reactive core. It does not refresh one-use-per battle items such as battery.

It requires energy to activate so you will need more than one charge to make it net positive.

Infinites?

It is possible, boring, but deadly. It’s easy to google. It’s possible to find it if your booster, rotators, ambition and a few other bits. This might be fixed, I think.
