In this guide I will tell you how to solve some problems that I have encountered personally

Introduction

In this guide I will discuss some of the problems I encountered during the game, some of which made it almost unplayable

Special thanks to user enderdrag64 from the Discord server RedguardUnity aka Travels & Adventures

“Out of memory” error / game crash

In the transition between a locations or trying to “Search body” you may encounter this error, sometimes it occurs just during the game or when picking up some even quest items, which may not let you pass the game

Sometimes it can disappear after a while, after a bunch of reloads of the game, but most likely you will quickly help the following steps:

  • In the folder (game folder)\Redguard\sound, find the file DIG.INI
  • Temporarily rename it so that you do not lose it
  • After passing the desired moment where the error was → make a save → exit the game → return DIG.INI in order to return the sound

DIG.INI file is responsible for the sound in the game (except the music), but it is temporary switching off that will allow you to pass the unpleasant moment

Crashing the game when loading a save / pressing Esc

I had this error at a later stage of the game. It most likely occurs because of the large number of saves, cause In my case, the problem was when I had more than 80 saves

For some reason, turning off the DIG.INI file for a while allows you to enter the game despite the problem (how to do this is written in the section above)

But instead of turning off the sound (except music) it is better to do so:

  • Saves are in the folder (game folder)\Redguard\SAVEGAME. Each folder SAVEGAME.0nn is your saves (nn – number of the save, the most recent saves will have the highest number)
  • If you need not only the last save, but for example at some point, then enter the game by turning off the file DIG.INI (how to do this is written in the section above), make the most important / key saves, so that the folders with saves have the largest number and it is easy for you to navigate
  • After that, put all the other saves into the archive (or wherever, if you need them), so that there are only a few left
  • And preferably rename them, so that they were with the minimum numbers, aka SAVEGAME.001 and so on

Stuck between land and water

It’s not a very serious problem, but I have encountered it very often personally. The problem occurs when the character gets stuck in 1 place (most often on the shore) and begins to quickly and roundly change the type of movement from walking to swimming

If it happens on the shore, try to find the side in which the character will come out, and if you just spin but do not go forward, then try to keep pressing the jump. In a couple of moments, it helped me to switch to an attack pos, but still the option to go forward /+jump worked more often for me
