How to Use this Guide

Spoiler Alert:

Expect spoilers in the guide for level solutions: The guide assumes you already know how to solve the “normal” puzzles of each level, so other parts of the same level may be discussed while giving the hints.

Hint Tiers:

  • Hint 0: Approximate area of the collectible: E.g. the begininng/end of the level, because sometimes you just want to narrow it down a little, and that’s enough.
  • Hints 1, 2, etc. : Increasingly more revealing hints. Read the next one if the hints so far were insufficient.

General Tips

These general tips always apply and are often enough by themselves:

  • Look up!

Despite it being a pretty multilevel experience, a lot is hidden above you. For many collectibles in this list you will be able to see it (or a hidden area leading to it) if you keep scouting overhead as you progress.

  • Look back!

When space itself is warping so much it is great to keep asking: Is the entrance behind you really the one you came from? If it is, is it still open? Is it open to bringing objects back? Is it the only thing behind you? Can you go behind it?

  • Take it with you!

Any objects you find are not always limited to the rooms you found them in. To resourcefully extend your reach, bring along any object you can carry, as far as it goes. Sometimes you can do this in reverse too, to access new parts of old areas with your new objects.

General Constellation Tips:

  • Look for dark spots. That’s where the doorways usually are.
  • There is only 1 constellation per constellation room.
  • To find constellations within their rooms, look for straight lines. The real shape very likely will have at least one straight line.

Full Solutions (and my sources)

In addition to using my own experience, I have consulted :

These are very clear video-based guides for full solutions. This guide follows their naming and numbering style for easy cross-checking.

Level 1 – Induction

Blue Pawn Chess Piece

  • Area: You can find it around the time you find the soda machine.
  • Hint 1: You don’t actually need to reach the soda machine, but it would help.
  • Hint 2: It is not visible from ground level.

Blueprint #1

  • Area: It is around the end of the level.
  • Hint 1: Like, the very end.
  • Hint 2: Beyond the end “exit” in fact, if you can get there.
  • Hint 3: There are 2 resizable items in the last area. You know the cheese slice already. The other one would probably be more useful to you.

(No Constellation Room)

Level 2 – Optical

Blue Knight Chess Piece

  • Area: You can find it after the second time you step out of the decorated “hotel” area.
  • Hint 1: It is around where you find the green chess piece.
  • Hint 2: One of the general tips applies here.

Blueprint #2

  • Area: You can find it sometime after the first time you “step out” of the decorated “hotel” areas.
  • Hint 1: You don’t need any resizable objects to reach it (apart from the stuff you already need to do to continue the level).
  • Hint 2: It is off the main path, in a partially dark area.

Blueprint #3

  • Area: It is near the end of the level.
  • Hint 1: Did you notice that the game provided you with quite a few resizable objects at the same time, while you clearly needed just 1 of them to exit the room?
  • Hint 2: One of the general tips applies here.
  • Hint 3: The cheese slice helps a lot, but putting the moon on top of it makes life easier: It doesn’t slide off!

Constellation Room

  • Area: A very dark corner that is NOT in a hotel area. Around the middle/end of the level.
  • Hint 1: The corner is at ground level but might seem unreachable.
  • Hint 2: It might seem unreachable because there’s a bunch of stuff in front of it, nothing a few jumps can’t handle.
  • Hint 3: The corner is also just below a radio.

Easter Egg #1

  • Area: It is in the first “hotel” area.
  • Hint: More specifically, above it, if you can find the gap in the ceiling and reach there.

Easter Egg #2 (HARD)

  • Area: It is around where you step out of the first “hotel” area.
  • Hint 1: You’ll need to use all the signs, it’ll be hard, but you can rise to the challenge.
  • Hint 2: Maybe you thought you already reach that area while going through the level normally, but actually it is a different place.

Level 3 – Cubism

Pink King Chess Piece

  • Area: It is near the beginning of the level, after you have found 1-2 cubes.
  • Hint 1:The piece is visible from inside the “normal” gallery area if you stand at the right place.
  • Hint 2: Look up, but not at the ceiling.
  • Hint 3: Remember that loosely walled off dark “secret room” with no collectibles in it? You can reach the chess piece on the way to getting there. You need to have seen it from the ground, though.

Pink Queen Chess Piece

  • Area:You can find it after dropping under the floor, into the dark.
  • Hint 1:You can find a surprising number of helpful resizable objects in that area, with one of them being very visible to you immediately upon entering the area.
  • Hint 2: Some of the general tips apply here.
  • Hint 3: It is pretty practical to jump from one resizable object to another to help you reach the place where you will find the piece.

Blueprint #4

  • Area: It is within the gallery area, around the middle of the level, but you have to uncover it.
  • Hint 1:It is attached to an object that not a cube, but found near some cubes.
  • Hint 2: This object can be moved but not resized or carried.
  • Hint 3: You can see the blueprint (maybe even reach it) without using a resizable object within the room, if you plan your movement well. However, a very helpful little object can be found in the room after the one with this blueprint.
  • Hint 4: Did you see any water dripping from the ceiling somewhere nearby? Finding it can help you find and reach the blueprint.

Blueprint #5

  • Area: Near the end of the level.
  • Hint 1:Two of the general tips will help you a lot with this one.
  • Hint 2:The tips are “take it with you” and “look back”.
  • Hint 3: It’s no companion cube, but any cube (piece) can accompany you through these downs and ups.

Constellation Room

  • Area: It is near the beginning of the level.
  • Hint 1: One of the general tips will reveal it to you.
  • Hint 2: It is in the first dark area. You probably wouldn’t expect to see a *second* doorway there.

Easter Egg #3

  • Area: Around the start of the level.
  • Hint: Step into the darkness (the right place, though).

Level 4 – Blackout

Blue Pawn Chess Piece

Area:It is in one of the dark areas that you light up “by hand”.
Hint 1: Remember that your light source is a resizable object too.
Hint 2: One of general tips will help here, but you won’t see it without going to search for it.
Hint 3: A few jumps are needed. Good thing these boxes don’t buckle or slip the way the sign might.

Blue Pawn Chess Piece (another)

Area: Near the end of the level, not too far from the blueprint.
Hint 1: After the lights come on you’ll find a ton of objects around. This show room is not just for show!
Hint 2: The game itself gives you a key hint here: beans.
Hint 3:You can partially see the piece from inside the room, but not from near the generator. Use the beans to reach it.

Blueprint #6

Area:Near the end of the level, not too far from the blue pawn.
Hint 1:After the lights come on you’ll find a ton of objects around. This show room is not just for show!
Hint 2:The game itself gives you a key hint here: Beans.
Hint 3: You can partially see the blueprint from inside the room, but not from near the generator. Use the beans reach it (but just the diagonal planks are enough).

Constellation Room

Area:Around the beginning of the level.
Hint 1: Ironicly, with all the dark corners in this level, you find this dark area before the blackout even starts. Sneaky devs!
Hint 2: It is in the area that is found at the start of most levels.
Hint 3: If you can see the computer screen, you can also see this dark corner. It isn’t a corner of the room iteslf though.

Level 5 – Clone

Blue Pawn Chess Piece

  • Area: You can find the piece around the areas you start using the cloning mechanic.
  • Hint 1: General tips apply here.
  • Hint 2: You can make seemingly infinite copies of the alarm clock, right? That seriously extends your reach.

Pink Knight Chess Piece

  • Area: Near where you see a sign of Somnasculpt.
  • Hint 1: A general tip applies.
  • Hint 2: It turns out that some clever jumping is enough. But a secret object can also be found nearby to help.
  • Hint 3: Chess pieces don’t grow on trees, but you can find something else that does. It will help you search around.
  • Hint 4: The piece itself is just before the room with sign. The secret object is in the room, though. And it is not an apple.

(No blueprints)

Constellation Room

  • Area: Around the end of the level.
  • Hint 1: It is probably fastest to start next to the elevator and work your way back, checking those dark corners.
  • Hint 2: I kept missing this dark corner myself because it is behind an interesting object that I kept thinking about for something else.
  • Hint 3: While you find thid object in every level, only in this level does it work on every interaction instead of just a few times.

Easter Egg #4

  • Area: Around the end of the level.
  • Hint: If life gives you lemons, make lemon soda. If life gives you soda machines, make some cool platforms.

Level 6 – Dollhouse

Blue King Chess Piece

  • Area: In one of the areas where you are small. Not the first such area. A blueprint is nearby.
  • Hint 1: A general tip applies… especially when you’re this small!
  • Hint 2: It turns out that you can reach the piece without using objects, but it’ll help to bring along the fan.
  • Hint 3: Don’t rush through that doorway before you’ve looked it over.

Blueprint #7

  • Area: In one of the areas where you are small. Not the first such area. A chess piece is nearby.
  • Hint 1: A general tip applies… especially when you’re this small!
  • Hint 2: You definitely don’t need to bring a resizable object to reach it, if you create that small window of opportunity.
  • Hint 3: The blueprint is disguised as a box label.

Blueprint #8

  • Area: In the pool-themed part of the level.
  • Hint 1: Three general tips will help you find this one.
  • Hint 2: In fact modify a general tip to: “take it back with you”.
  • Hint 3: It seems part of the hallway is stretching away upwards, why not try to go there with some help from a resizeable object?

Blueprint #9

  • Area: Near the end of the level.
  • Hint 1: Yes you can escape the box, but with some careful planning you can also take everything else out of it.
  • Hint 2: It is fun to be tiny around all these normally-small objects but I think I’ll get back to normal size now.
  • Hint 3: If you managed to take out both doorways from the locked box, you can use them to resize yourself and see much higher.

Constellation Room

  • Area: Around the beginning of the level.
  • Hint 1: You can find it before you even find the dollhouse.
  • Hint 2: The secret doorway is right next to a regular doorway.
  • Hint 3: The room you find the doorway in is already darkened on purpose so that people can see the light better.

Level 7 – Labyrinth

General tip for this level

Since everything is mixing up in this level, it helps to stop and think about where you can actually reach.

Pink Rook Chess Piece

Area: Around the point where gravity starts getting weird.
Hint 1: Just because the exit moved doesn’t mean you can’t insist on going through the door you first saw.
Hint 2: The piece is actually “outside” of the “building”.
Hint 3: Have you walked on any windows lately?

Blue Queen Chess Piece

Area: Around where you see yellow chess pieces.
Hint 1: General tips apply.
Hint 2: Don’t leave it on the button on your way out.
Hint 3: The brave knight will take you up, to the void beyond the light.

Blueprint #10

Area: Around somewhere with a lot of water.
Hint 1: General tips apply here.
Hint 2: Another case of take it BACK with you.
Hint 3: Soda can help where the cube isn’t enough.

Blueprint #11

Area: A few areas after Blueprint #10.
Hint 1: Don’t pick up that cube!
Hint 2: If you followed Hint 1, it is just a matter of exploring. Remember the general tips.

Blueprint #12

Area: Uhm… all the locations are mixing up now but you can say it lies under the open sky?
Hint 1: A general tip applies.
Hint 2: Some clever jumping is necessary, and not from anywhere.
Hint 3: Start with the green gas cannister.

Constellation Room

Area: A few areas after Blueprint #10.
Hint 1: I don’t know if I want to spoil this one. It’s a really clever trick from the devs. You can’t find it by using the normal method.
Hint 2: Carefully use general tips and you may surprisingly happen upon it.
Hint 3: It is hidden in a white room!
Hint 4: Try walking over all the whitest, brightest spots you can find.

Easter Egg #5 (HARD)

Area: After gravity starts getting weird. There are 2 different hard ways of reaching it.
Hint: Yup. It’s all the way back up there.
Method 1: You fell through the floor, but you can still make your way back up there, with many objects and much effort.
Method 2 (https://youtu.be/oIyd8YOrVzc): If you keep reseting to the last checkpoint and practising, you might be able to clone a cube down the hallway amid your fall, such that it becomes visible from near the (unbroken) floor. After that just clone it more to make a floating staircase.

Easter Egg #6

Area: Around somewhere with a lot of water.
Hint 1: General tips apply here.
Hint 2: Another case of take it BACK with you.
Hint 3: Soda can help where the cube isn’t enough (it surely won’t be).

Easter Egg #7

Area: Sometime after seeing yellow chess pieces.
Hint 1: Watch your step.
Hint 2: Break your fall. Then look around.

Level 8 – Whitespace

General tip for this level

This level is a masterpiece, and prepare to think both big and small if you want to find all the secrets.

Blue Pawn Chess Piece

Area: It counts as within the first room.
Hint 1: It seems you can resize yourself again.
Hint 2: Where is that music coming from?
Hint 3: Instead of triggering a paradox maybe you might want to put the model of the room back in its place… and still go through the door…
Hint 4: That’s a lot of soda.

Blue Rook Chess Piece

Area: Within the first room.
Hint 1: Maybe grab a drink to help yourself think.
Hint 2: If the drink doesn’t come to you, perhaps you can go to it. And I don’t mean a bar or something.
Hint 3: It seems you can resize yourself again.
Hint 4: Ever wondered what the inside of the soda machine looks like?

Pink Pawn Chess Piece (Hard-ish)

Area: Around where you find many other chess pieces… of a kind.
Hint 1: It’s a big area and you will need some help to explore all of it.
Hint 2: This is a clever case of taking it back with you.
Hint 3: Why is there a strange pink mark on that water cooler?
Hint 4: When in doubt, climb higher up. Note that this might not be easy but eventually you can create some big ramps that you can jump onto.

Hint 2: You don’t need any objects.

Constellation Room

Area: At some point after you walk into a city block.

Area: At some point after you walk into a city block.
Hint: About time you escaped the city…
Bonus: You can carry around the egg to help you reach hard places.

Non-Egg Easter Egg A

Area: The white space with the light switch.
Hint 1: Take it with you.
Hint 2: Don’t worry, it’s high up but not on top of that giant cone.
What the object is: A spinning top, like in Inception.

Non-Egg Easter Egg B

Area: The snow valley.
Hint: Ground level. It is disguised because it is white on white.
What the object is: A white board with changeable content.

Non-Egg Easter Egg C

Area: The snow valley.
Hint 1: It’s up high up so you need objects.
Hint 2: The king’s bedside snack.
What the object is: A banana.

Non-Egg Easter Egg D (HARD)

Area: Distributed around the city block.
What the object is: There are letters on the walls around the area. It spells something related to finding all chess pieces… Walkthrough https://youtu.be/VHDdMWvsHSA if you want.

After Collecting Them

Part 2 Hint 1: Make sure to play your move!
Part 2 Hint 2: If you don’t know enough chess, notice that only 2 pieces are grabable anyway. You need to move both. You are playing blue and pretty close to a checkmate.

Hint 1: Remember where you could track progress of them?
Hint 2: You can reach this place at the start of the Dollhouse level. Some new doors will open for you.

After Finding All Constellations

Feedback? Comments? Corrections

Please let me know in the comments if you have any feedback. Especially any corrections would be appreciated and acknowledged!

Perhaps I will also summarize full solutions here if there is a demand.

What about fire alarms, and fire extinguishers, and other non-literal easter eggs?

The general tips work wonders here. However, there are dozens of these and I haven’t found them all myself yet. But if there is enough interest in the guide, I might add those in too.
