This is a guide for Skullgirls 2nd Encore – How to Downgrade to the last version
Because of recent occurrences, I’ve decided to publish a guide on how to update your Skullgirls (or any other game) copy to an older version.
Skullgirls are able to be downgraded to the previous version
Change the name of the folder in the game to whatever you like.
Open the Windows “Run” prompt (Win + R) and type “steam://open/console”, then press enter
This will let you access the Steam Console
Now there you need to type the following
download_depot 245170 245171 2462631669275661615
You’ll need to wait until the download starts. There’s no progress bar or notification. You should see this after the download is complete.
Depot download complete : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_245170\depot_245171" (28 files, manifest 2462631669275661615)
This is the download path, you need to copy or move the “depot_245171” folder into the same folder that the game folder was in
Then rename “depot_245171” and change it to “Skullgirls”.
Play the Filia story mode and then launch the game to check.
(It should appear like this)

To reduce the quality of a video game, you’ll require three things:
- The App ID
- The Depot ID
- The Manifiest ID
We will make use of acude to discover all the details.
SteamDB – [steamdb.infoSteamDB – [steamdb.info
There could be multiple results. Just ensure that the APP TYPE column reads Game and the name of the game is in line with it.
- In the first column you will see the App ID
- Clicking it will take you to the SteamDB page for that game.
- You will see on the left side a button that has the text Depots.
- Clicking it should take you to the Depots section
- The depot you want should be the first one, though occasionally, the game might contain another program, so make sure that it doesn’t contain any tags on the column EXTRA INFO.
- In the second column, you will find the Depot ID
- Clicking on the depot will take you to its page and you’ll see the manifests section.
- There are the last 20 (i think) manifests, these manifests only have a SEEN DATE as well as an ID, and there you will find everything you need.
Now you can log on to Steam and switch IDs using the command.

DepotDownloader
Of course, if you wish to do this for multiple different games, this could become tedious, but thankfully some smarter people have already created their own apps for doing this, such as
DepotDownloader – [github.com]
Naturally, making use of it isn’t an easy task but it does come with a number of features that could aid someone in a variety of ways, such as selecting the directory from which the depot will download or downloading all depots at the same time and downloading specific files etc. It can be hard to make it work however, it’s still a command line interface and you must read the instructions carefully.

Be sure to also install
.NET – [microsoft.com]
as it is needed to be able to run DepotDownloader.
