This is a 100% achievement guide for episode 1 of Sierra Ops.
Introduction
Sierra Ops is a sci-fi visual novel with RTS elements developed by Innomen Team and published by Sekai Project. To help anyone who wants to give this game a try and get all of the achievements for episode 1, I decided to write up this guide. I will note now that this guide contains spoilers, so if you’d rather figure out how to get certain achievements on your own, feel free to ignore it. However, for those who are struggling to get those last few achievements, I hope this guide will help.
(Note: Before I forget, you can choose from one of four difficulty options: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Lunatic. Achievements aren’t affected by the difficulty you choose, so feel free to choose whatever option suits your gameplay style.)
Burn Scars
Wake up from the nightmare.
This achievement will automatically pop-up after you complete the nightmare tutorial at the beginning of the game. On your first playthrough, you will be required to complete this tutorial (which will teach you how to navigate your ship) and then the achievement will appear.
Digital Memories
Meet the shadow of an old friend.
Early on, you will be presented with a choice after having talked to Doc. You can either choose to go to bed or test the simulator. Choose “test the simulator,” complete it, and you’ll get the achievement. (It’s a really good idea to choose this option anyway.)
Enter Earth
Return to the Terra system.
This is an automatic achievement that will pop-up as you progress through the story. It happens after there’s an announcement in relation to Mars.
Libertas Ares
Watch the fateful broadcast.
Another automatic achievement that will pop-up as you progress through the story. It appears shortly after the announcement about Mars.
Ace
Be the best reinforcements that Rhines can ask for.
This achievement will appear if you choose to go to Rhines when the solar system overview appears and you successfully defend the station from attacks from Mars ships.
Trigger Happy Fools
Complete the Rhines ending of episode 1.
You will get this achievement for successfully completing the Rhines path. (There are 3 different endings in total, not including the bad ending.)
Empty Speculation
Complete the Icoros Novo ending of Episode 1.
Go to Icoros Novo and when prompted on whether to go after the three Mars spaceships, choose yes. You will then get this ending.
Red Tide
Complete the Mondshire ending of episode 1.
Go to Mondshire and successfully attack the invading Mars spaceships.
Against Protocol
Go to Rhines early in episode 1.
This one is very specific. The way I got it was to immediately choose Rhines when the solar system overview appears. This is important because if you go there after you get a distress signal from that area, you won’t get the achievement. Basically, you have to be there so you can see the impending attack and offer to help out. Then, when given the option of whether to ask Captain Brooks to delay the report, choose “Ask to delay the report.” The achievement will then appear.
Better Uses of Time
Decide there are better uses of time than interrogating random ships.
Go to Icoros Novo and when prompted on whether to go after the three Mars spaceships, choose no. You will then get this achievement.
Above Pay Grade
Go above and beyond the call of duty at Mondshire.
Related to the Red Tide achievement. Go to Mondshire and successfully attack the invading Mars spaceships.
Down, but not Out
Fight to the bitter end at Mondshire.
Related to the Red Tide achievement. Go to Mondshire and successfully attack the invading Mars spaceships.
Tourist
Take a tour around the system. What could happen?
When the solar system overview appears, visit 3 non-event places. This achievement can be tricky to get, so it’s recommended to go to St. Niliam first. Then choose 2 other non-event places. (In other words, don’t go to Mondshire, Rhines, or Icoros Novo.) I chose Demetrius, Neo Hampshire, and then UTV Headquarters. The achievement appeared for me then.
Maw of the Abyss
Get a bad end.
Basically, you get this achievement when your ship runs out of fuel. Now, the best way to get this achievement is to go for the tourist one and then continue visiting non-event places so basically, avoid Mondshire, Rhines, and Icoros Novo. The achievement should appear.
Always a Good Time for Upgrades
Preview the augmentations dock.
I got this achievement by first visiting the UTV Headquarters on the solar system overview and then Central Dock. Now, you could visit it later and still get this achievement, but if you want to be on the safe side, go for this first.
Exploring Every Beginning
How else are you going to make an informed decision?
Get all 3 endings. In other words, get Trigger Happy Fools, Empty Speculation, and Red Tide achievements.
Note: If the achievement isn’t triggered after getting these 3 endings, then you might need to get the Maw of the Abyss achievement. In other words, go for the bad ending.
Kobayashi Binasu
Who said you had to follow the rules?
This achievement is very specific and can be very difficult to get. Basically, during the nightmare tutorial, when you are asked to navigate past the turrets firing at your ship (the person speaking will note that that turrets are firing paint so you won’t die lol), you have to take your ship off-screen and get past the turrets without getting hit once. Now, I had a very difficult time getting this achievement, so here’s my suggestion. Play the game in full screen mode, as it will make it easier to navigate your ship to go off-screen. Then just move past the turrets firing at you and ignore going for the white markers.
What a waste…
See the gameover screen over 10 times in episode 1.
This achievement also took me a while to get. However, if you have completed the game once, here’s a quick way to get this achievement. Choose to play on lunatic mode. Use skip mode. Skip all of the tutorial options. Then save when the solar system overview appears. Choose Mondshire or Rhines and use the skip option. Then go into the battles and intentionally lose. (Turning off your ship’s shield will result in your ship getting destroyed more quickly.) When your ship gets destroyed, you’ll get the option to Recalibrate or Terminate. Choose Recalibrate. It will restart the battle. Continue to lose over and over and the achievement will eventually pop-up. I got this achievement during the Mondshire battles but it should work for the Rhines battles, too.
Collapsing Daybreak
Get all achievements in Episode 1.
Of course, this is pretty self-explanatory. Just get all of the above achievements and this one will appear.
Concluding Comments
I hope this guide will help those who are struggling to get those last few achievements. If there’s anything I missed or you feel that needs correcting, etc., feel free to comment. It’s very possible that there’s more than one way to get certain achievements although the methods I described ended up working for me.
