The Bard’s Tale How to change key bindings. 2017 version.

The meat of it

 
The workaround involves rolling back to the 2012 version of the game and then back the 2017 version. 
It looks like the downloads are really small 
 
This part comes from the InXile support page: 

1. Open Steam. 
2. Go to your “Library” tab. 
3. Find “The Bard’s Tale”. 
4. Right-click it and select “Properties” from the drop-down menu. 
5. Select the “Betas” tab in the Properties window. 
6. Type in the code “TheBardsTaleUnsnarkled” in the box, then click the “Check Code” button. 
7. Select the new “oldbuild” branch which appears in the drop-down menu above. 
8. Close the Properties window. 
9. Steam will begin downloading the older version of the game. After it’s finished, your game should be reverted back to the previous version.

This part is the workaround: 

1. Start the game. 
2. Go to the controller settings and make your changes. 
3. I loaded a save game to test the changes, they worked. 
4. Exit the game 
5. Do the above steps again, this time change the beta to: none. 
6. Close the Properties window. 
7. Steam will begin downloading the 2017 version of the game. 
8. Start the game.

Your controls should now be remapped.
