It is very hard to loot Gold from monsters and to craft it from Dark Matter (another extremely rare crafting material). Fortunately, the Hidden Desert’s Blue Chests contain gold and there are 11 of them! I’ve mapped out a path to let you traverse the whole area, including a save point. The route isn’t very long, chests are marked accurately, and the path matches the general movement of your character whilst inside the game. The route starts at a teleport and ends at a Teleport in another area, resetting the Blue Chests, so it’s very easy to restart farming.

Location: Hidden Desert

The Hidden Desert is located at the bottom right of the map, East of Inferno Cave and South of Forbidden Underground Waterway.

Preparation: Items, Equipment and Shards

You should be able to get enough gold crafting material for crafting equipment after 10 or so runs. You will need more if you want to enhance your shards. If you’re aiming to do lots of runs, you will want to focus on speed. If you can’t kill mobs here in 1-2 hits, swap out your gear for more defence and status resistance instead.

Because of the high likelihood of touching a frog accidentally, you may want to carry some Mithridate (poison antidote). They also drop in the area, so you won’t need too many. Alternatively, if you’re high enough level, you can tank the damage.

Route + Chest Locations

Teleport to the Hidden Desert waypoint (the right one) to start and follow the path. Head down towards your first chest, then right towards the next chest and save point. Once you’ve saved, head left and follow the rest of the path. Once you’ve exit the area (past the arrow icon), head towards the teleporter and start over.

Notes:

– pathing and chests are drawn roughly matching platforms and walls inside the game

– some chests may be hidden underneath the sand, so watch out for the “Press W” to open indicator

Spoils of War

I usually get a few pieces of Gold crafting material per run, so it’s much faster than crafting it.
