Rebind and customize your controls with an Autohotkey script.
 
 

Intro

If you’re like me you may have found Left Shift + Right Shift + Enter + arrow keys to be really poor controls for a keyboard player.
 
 
Unfortunately you can’t rebind your controls, not even manually by editing the config file.
 
 
 

The workaround

So I made an Autohotkey script to get around this issue. I changed my controls to:
 

• Z = left pad
• X = interact
• C = right pad
• Left arrow = move left
• Right arrow = move right

This proved to be much more enjoyable for me. Tab and Space still manage the map and inventory.
 
 
 

Applying the script

There are two ways to use the script.
 
 
Fast method:
 
Simply download the script .exe file and run it.

That’s all you need really. However, accepting .exe files from strangers is something you generally don’t want to do.
 
 
Recommended method:
 
First, download Autohotkey – [autohotkey.com]  and install it.
 
Then download and double-click my script to run it:

This is the actual source of the script that you can view in any text editor to see exactly what it does, so it is 100% safe for you.
 
 
 

Using the script

Simply run the script before or during playing Yoku’s Island Express, then use the redefined controls as described above.
 
 
If you went with the recommended option and installed Autohotkey you can also customize the controls to your liking (by editing the script with any text editor before running it).
