XCOM 2 How to Get Xcom2 WOTC Mods Working

Xcom2: WotC works with the (new) X2 (publisher) launcher if mods are disabled/not used.
 
 
Requirements for Steam Workshop mods:
 
1. AML – Alternative Mod Launcher (github)
 
2. x2 Highlander (Steam Workshop & Github)
 
3. x2 Highlander w/ Alien Hunters (for that DLC) (Steam Workshop & Github)
 
4. Mod Config Menu (Steam Workshop)

Download the AML from github & install it, then subscribe to the 3 mods on Steam, Highlander, Highlander w/ Alien Hunters (only if you have the DLC), and the Mod Config Menu (mod) also on Steam. This should allow you to get any mods working. Remember when subscribing (installs mod) to mods on Steam, check if they say WOTC as a requirement, also check each mod for other required mods to get them to work, most have none but some have 2-10 other mods that they require to make them work properly & ALM can help you identifying those issues, as well as tell you if mods are for WOTC or not. When adding/subscribing to new mods, you will have to close out ALM and reopen it so it can rescan the list of mods that you have subscribed/installed. If you want to mod the game yourself w/ Mod Buddy (hidden) on Steam use:
 
1. Xcom 2 Development Tools
 
2. Xcom 2 War of the Chosen Development Tools
 
3. Xcom: Chimera Squad Development Tools
 
Goto your ‘Library’ tab then sort/look for ‘Tools’.
 
 
I am happy to say that I can finally play this again!
 
 
The dev’s (Firaxis Games) and gamers were happy with the old launcher till 2k Games (publisher) changed & broke it. Xcom2 Chimera Squad still has the mod menu but Xcom WOTC does not & has not been fixed for years. This update was pushed out without any patch notes about what it was or what it did & no real guide how to fix it.
 
 
I know there are other guides on how to run mods with the old launcher, but that always seems to hang/freeze on me and never load, then there are 2 mod launchers on the Nexus, the old one and the new Vortex one, which I tried one and it just froze my computer completely. I’m not sure how many other methods there are, but this one worked or me.

Hopefully XCom3 has better mod support & more graphical assets/coding to help/encourage modders to add more variety & enjoyment to their game. 🙂
