Everything you ever wanted to know about playing Kerillian’s Sword and Dagger. How to get started, attack patterns and combos, and more.
Changelog
- 27 DEC 2021: Patch 4.5.1
Introduction
“Many asrai learn the first steps of battle in a ritualized duel, parrying with a leaf-bladed dagger and riposting with a horned longsword.”
Kerillan’s Sword and Dagger is favored among many players for its role diversity, speed, and damage output; making it an exceptional all-rounder in her arsenal for horde clear, armor damage, and boss damage. In this guide, we’ll give you a walkthrough of some of the ins and outs of this weapon, its damage output, most commonly-used attack patterns, and some additional tips and tricks like move tech and boss damage. Read on to see why this weapon has remained one of the staples in many Kerillan players’ kits.
- Effective Block Angle: The effective angle you can block an attack without dropoff.
- Block Cost Modifier: The amount that damage to stamina is multiplied by when struck inside a weapon’s effective block angle. Weapons have both an inner and outer modifier.
- Dodge Bonus: A bonus that varies from weapon to weapon that affects a dodge’s speed and distance.
- Effective Dodge Count: The number of dodges a player can perform on a weapon without expending the dodge bonus. Dodges become shorter and slower after the effective dodge count has been expended.
- Push Angle: The bonus in which you can effectively stagger enemies backward when pushing.
- Push Radius: The radius of the spherical stagger explosion that the push is, or push range.
- Linesman: A modifier that affects enemies' mass for that specific attack for more cleave.
- Bleed: A type of damage over time (DoT), that applies damage to enemies at a specific tick rate over an extended interval.
- Crit: When used in this guide, when we say a weapon has a "crit" on its profile, it means it has an extra chance to achieve a critical hit, or a hit that causes additional damage.
Weapon 101
Kerillian’s Sword and Dagger is a jack of all trades weapon that is fast, versatile, and includes wide sweeps for easy horde clear. Linesman on the first two lights makes it easy to cleave through infantry and farm THP off of most dense, unarmored enemies with THP on hit/cleave. High attack speeds with bleed and 10% crit chance on different movesets allow for fast, DPS-heavy attacks. While not beating out dual daggers in this area, it does very decent armor and boss damage, making classes playing it step into role diversity outside of horde clear.
With a fairly straightforward moveset, this weapon is easy to learn combos with and is great for both beginner and advanced players alike across all difficulty levels.
- 3 Stamina shields
- 90° effective block angle
- x0.8 inner block cost modifier/x1.5 outer block cost modifier
- 25% dodge bonus (speed & distance)
- 6 effective dodge count
- 100° inner push angle/180° outer push angle
- 2.5 push radius

Weapon Combinations*
* There is some variance on what is considered “efficient” from player to player, but we highlight the main ones here that are most frequently used by the playerbase. As always, experiment and learn what works for you—there is always more mechanically to explore!
Like most weapons, Sword and Dagger follows the golden rule of "when in doubt, aim for the head!"
While we will discuss how to better maximize your survivability against hordes in an upcoming guide, it is important to make use of pushing and dodging (especially with your team's back against a wall) while fighting medium to dense clumps of enemies to avoid taking damage and getting stabbed by a stray rat from the side.

Many bosses have attacks that can be "danced", or allow a player to lock them into repeated attack combinations that give you and your team an advantage. While this will be covered in a separate guide, knowing which bosses to dance in combination of the attacks listed below will increase your team's survivability and DPS.

Movetech
Movetech is a weapon attack pattern that allows players to move faster than just walking when repeated. Sword and Dagger has a very simple movetech that allows you to move faster using the already existing weapon combos as listed in the previous section.
