This is a general game guide for The Witch & the 66 Mushrooms. Gameplay tips, certain mushroom guides and direction for certain parts.
General tips
First, some quick tips you should be aware:
- Dagger – After hitting an enemy they bounce up and may hit them again.
- Sword – Deals 3 hits before upwards strike.
- Scythe – Adds a ranged projectile to swipe (deals the same damage as the scythe and is counted independently, meaning you can hit twice per scythe strike).
- Bow – Sends 3 arrows.
- Hammer – When it hits the floor sends out 3 spikes from the ground forward.
Mushrooms
This guide will only give tips and explain some of the harder mushrooms to obtain.
Some mushrooms require that you do a specific task, usually involving getting from S -> G (start to goal) only touching specific tiles, but…
Very important tip!
Most mushrooms don’t count stepping if you are in cat form.
Always facing left mushroom
This mushroom is at the very beginning, all you have to do is go from the witch’s house to the little sprout on the right while always facing left.
You can use the dash to move while facing the same direction.
(dash button is RB/R1 on the controller)
Rug mushroom
This mushroom is also at the beginning but needs (?) the cat form to complete.
You just need to step in this rug tile ledge, enter cat form, then walk to the witch’s house and exit cat form.
Bonfire mushroom (and bonus tip for top left mushroom)
The mushroom on the left can be obtained early by perfoming a difficult jump, but its best to hold out until you can activate the platforms in this area.
The bonfire mushroom can be obtained by going from the cat in boots to the bonfire while being in continuous cat form.
No damage mushroom
This is a hard mushroom to get early, but can be done. You need to go from either grass patch in the area to the one on the other side with taking any damage.
You can take out the enemies in the area first, but if you take any damage even before stepping on the first grass you have already failed.
You basically can’t take any damage the whole time you are in the area.
This is significantly easier when you have the poison immunity gem, as you can move through the poisoned water unharmed.
Green tiles mushroom
You must step in all green tiles in any sequence, you may use the cat form trick.
Karaba’s hall ordered tiles mushroom
You must step in each tile in order (the totem shows the order) without touching any other tile.
Jump mushroom
For this mushroom, you need to jump from the marked tile from the top to the one in the bottom without landing in any other tile.
This is the only mushroom that still counts when you are in cat form, so you need to be in human form to do this.
Scarab
If you are stuck searching for the scarab, it is in this location:
Bremen’s Pit
Near the cauldron you can see a pyramid like structure with animals increasing in size.
Enter the cat form and stand in the spot between the dog and chicken.
Final boss
In the final stage of the final boss, the only way to damage her is to push the bigger fireballs towards her chest with the sword. They will slowly get closer to her, keep going until they start hitting her.
