The Frustrating Road to 100%

What makes 100% completion somewhat annoying in this game? It has missable achievements that center around making certain decisions, and Telltale didn’t bother to bring back manual saves or the rewind feature.
 
 
 

What Can Be Done?

You have two choices: quit the game and make a backup of your save before specific choices, or quit to the main menu after making a choice and hope you can continue before making said choice. I’d go with quitting and backing up to make sure.

When To Make Backups

Episode 1 – Act 2 – Choice 1

Near the beginning of Act 2, you’ll choose between fishing or hunting. You only get to do one of the activities, so a backup is needed.
 
 
When you go fishing, you can complete two achievements by checking graffiti in the shack, and not missing with the spear.

Episode 1 – Act 2 – Choices 2a and 2b

Reload your previous backup and choose to go hunting this time. When you arrive in the woods, you are provided another choice, and you know what that means: time for another backup.
 
 
Each choice on the hunting trip (provided you don’t miss with either one) will net you one achievement.

Episode 2 – Act 3

Towards the end of Act 3, you are asked to help with the final preparations. Make your backup before choosing which person to help. It does not matter which character you go with, but Bonded didn’t work properly for me until I chose to help Louis.
 
 
For Bonded, just friendzone the person. If you’re going for Moving Fast, then creep on them.

Episode 4 – Act 1

This is the most annoying missable achievement to get because it does not unlock until you make it through part of Act 2.
 
 
Make your backup when you’re in the second part of the cave, then choose “You’ve earned it” or “You’re not ready”. Reload, choose the option you didn’t before, then continue playing until the second achievement unlocks.

Closing Comments

This game, unlike the other entries in this series, features several missable achievements. However, the point of this guide is to show where choices are connected to missable achievements. None of the guides I saw mentioned backup saves or reloading and I stupidly a*sumed I would be able to load more convenient saves/points when going for 100%. Don’t make my mistake.
