This is a guide for SQUARE ENIX AI Tech Preview: THE PORTOPIA SERIAL MURDER CASE – Achievements and Easter egg

Regarding Threshold 8800.00

With the current build (as of 04/23/2023) there’s a common bug in which none of your commands is accepted by the game and Yasu (your pardner) dismissed you.

User “Sanugia” found a quick fix about this issue.

It’s on:

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\LocalLow\SquareEnix\PORTOPIA

HOWEVER, this issue also corrupts some saves, not being possible to advance. To be safe, you must play Portopia in one sitting.

Thanks to user “Asobi” (new collaborator! hi!) we managed to make some experiments on this.

1 – If you save your game with the threshold bugged, it WILL corrupt your save. Please play with PAUSE activated just to be sure you didn’t get this bug.

2 – You CAN save your game, but whenever you close the game PLEASE BE SURE TO DO THE FIX. User “Sanugia” suggested numbers 0,88 as the NLU_Threshold, but “Asobi” made an astute observation that the file might correct the ” , ” to a ” . ”

TLDR WHENEVER YOU START A NEW PLAY SESSION, MAKE SURE TO CHANGE THE NUMBER TO “0,8” OR “0,88”, with a comma, not a dot. THIS MUST BE DONE EACH TIME YOU PLAY THE GAME.

As soon as the game starts, use the PAUSE buttom (if your keyboard is different press Fn + Pause). Take a deep breath and get ready to type.

Side note: your achievements will be unlocked whenever you close the game.

I wrote the guide as I was playing so some parts might be rough than others.

Also, I couldn’t unlock some achievements on the first playtrhough.

I’ll play more times just so I can figure the other achievements + optimize the run.
