A guide to help those who wish to play the game to have a way to backup your saves for the game in case of crashing issue.

YOU SHOULD DO THIS BEFORE PLAYING GAME

For anyone who wishes to play this game, the following steps should be used.

First, depending on your save location, this could be in different places on your pc. We need to find the save location and find it. Here are some examples of save locations:

Windows:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Maneater\Saved\SaveGames\

Microsoft Store:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\TripwireInteractiveLLC.Maneater_237dqjpew1r3m\SystemAppData

Steam Play (Linux):

<Steam-folder>/steamapps/compatdata/629820/pfx/

NOTE: Since im using windows 10, i would type in the search box %localappdata%, and then i would find folder maneater.

After finding the maneater folder, open folder “SAVED”, then the folder “SAVEGAMES” folder. This is your game saves in here, with the profile also. In this folder, create a new folder called “backup save”.

Once you create this folder, you need to copy three files from the “SAVEGAMES” folder. Do not worry about their backup files, just copy the regular files. The first file to copy will have maneater save. sav. The second one will be profile. sav. The third one will be profile slot.sav. These are the three files that you need to copy and paste in your backup save folder. Here is an example of mine i copied in there:

Once your done with this, then you should also make sure to TURN OFF STEAM CLOUD for this game. Be aware there seems to be a bug with it that makes it turn on everytime you close and restart steam, so everytime you start up steam, turn off steam cloud for this game. This will make sure the save does not get overwritten in case of crash, and lets you manually make the backup save.

NOTE: One more thing to remember is that everytime you close the game and quit it, you will need to make a manual backup save. YOU WILL NEED TO DO THIS EVERYTIME.
