Welcome to Xinnia friend, in this guide I’m going to teach you everything you need to know about my Distant Homeland!
First things First there’s a few point’s about this mod I want to Explain.
- All Textures use Kenshi’s Base Game Models and Textures
- Hunger is Increased though Food has been Revamped
- As of yet there are no added Towns (Check Main Mod Page for Upcoming News!)
Now that We’ve got that out of the way Let’s get Started!

Somethings things just don’t go the way you want and unfortunately you can’t use the singular variants of Any of my Xinnian Mods with this Overhaul so if you have any of these:

Xinnians – The Race, The Reason, The Recruit. (And the Refuge.)
Xinnian’s are an intelligent race from the land of Xinnia. Identical to humans on the outside this race, ages ago, was Genetically modified to have increased Endurance and Intelligence. Though with these advantage’s, there was a cost. Their eyesight is terrible and as such they aren’t the best with ranged weapons. Their Bones are Heavier, making Labouring harder and Swimming difficult
Newly added is the playable race of Xinnian, as much customization as Humans (Basegame)
You can now be a Migrant from Xinnian.

Recruitable Xinnian?
Mirror is a Xinnian who you are able to recruit, Location: He/She will be found at one of the Flotsam Villages and Mirror is a Unique Character meaning they only spawn once.
At the moment I am still learning to code Dialogue and as such Mirror will use (Warning Gives Away Location Area: Flotsam Ninja Dialogue for the time being- with minor tweaks though the number is very few.
More Xinnian Companions are planned to be added in the future!

The Xinnian Trader
Seeking to make your fortune, you spent the last of your savings on a backpack full of trade goods, A Pack Animal and your Trusty Goat, and are about to start a new life as a trader- Just don’t go into the Holy Nation.
The Xinnian Wanderers
You are a group of wanderers with nothing but a few coins, a nice set of Xinnian Clothes and a few Xinnian weapons, ready to venture out into the world.
Farming and Food
Food and Hunger
New Crop: Xinnian Grass
Xinnian Grass is an odd Crop. It can be used for many things like; Making Rum, Clothing, Biofuel, Flour (and by that accord Bread), and can even be used to make Backpacks (See Apparel Section).
This Crop is picky- Even when grown Hydroponically it still requires to be in a suitable Biome for maximum efficiency due to it not liking being cooped up indoors.
A fickle crop as it is, The amount of uses it has makes up for its troublesome growing.
To research and begin farming Xinnian Grass you will need to find some. This won’t be too hard as long as you aren’t in the Holy Nation. You won’t find anything from Xinnia in their lands.
Starting at Tech Level 2 you will need to Reseach “Xinnian Grass Farming” which will unlock Storage and the Small, Medium, and Large Xinnian Grass Farm.
Xinnian Grass is a distant Cousin of hemp and shares the same Biome Adaptability as it.
For the Hydroponic Version of the farm all you need to do is research Hydroponics, no extra research will be required.
Xinnian Rum
Xinnian Rum – A Delicious Spirit with a heavy Alcohol content.
More expensive than Cactus Rum and Sake, Xinnian Rum is sweeping across Kenshi as a well-traded Commodity. Want to join in on the action? Of course you do!
Xinnian Rum making is so easy, researching Rum Brewing is enough to know how. With Xinnian Grass, Water, and Labor, You can create this precious substance all on your own in the Xinnian Rum Still.

Kenshi has a noticable lack of Variety in died. No wonder so many people are cannibals

To make these dishes, you will first need to research Advanced Cooking.
Animals
Xinnian…… Goats! That’s right, Goats! Cute, Lovable, Pack Roaming, Heart warming, Carnivorous Goats that WILL Eat you.
The more the Risk the more the Reward, because Xinnian Goat’s don’t just drop meat. They drop Prime Meat, a much better, less lump cut. More rich in nutrients it’s sure to make any meal Amazing.
These magnificent creatures aren’t the easiest to find though- Not being Native to Kenshi, they escaped from Xinnian Trade ships some years ago, and now a few herds wander the expanses in remote area’s such as;
- The Cannibal Plains
- The Forbidden Isle
- The Black Desert
- The Great Desert
- The Swamp
- and Wend
Hydroponic Fish Farming!
Thinfish and Grandfish farming has never been so easy with Hydroponic fish farming!
You’ll need 10 of each kind of LIVE (not dried pretty much) Fish to build each of the habitats, and after that just supply them with water.
Or if you want to live the true noble life, have some Grandfish Caviar! You’ll need to make a special Fish farm for that, and you’ll certainly need to figure out where the Grandfish keeps its eggs anyways.
Now you can make much more food with ease!
First you need to research how to build the Habitat. To research Hydroponic Thinfish Farming you will need to have Tech Level 5 AND have already researched Hydroponics.
Note: You will need 10 Non-dried Thinfish to make the habitat, after that just supply it with water and power.
Hunger Overhaul
This mod changes a couple Aspects about Hunger.
- Raises rate of Hunger making more food necessary.
- Lowers the cost of most foods. (x0.85)

Xinnian’s were Master Weaponsmiths, atleast of Hand to Hand weapons. Poor Eyesight led to Crossbow’s being neglected.

Also added are a few special weapons that will require a little extra work to get.
First is the Voidfang Mercenary Rising Sun. This is the only special weapon you are able to craft, so as long as you have the cats to pay for the research.
The Voidfang Rising Sun was created to make the beasts of Kenshi and Xinnia stay away.
Next, We have a Legendary Blade by the name of Godsend, this Blade has a chance to be found at Nests, Ancient Ruins, or if you’re lucky enough you might be able to find it where the Skeleton’s live.
Also Included in the Voidfang Mercenary Sacred Umbra Blade, not much is known about this chaotic blade but talks of it have been made around the outskirt outposts and in the swamps.
and Finally the Jury-Rigged Xinnian Bow- Designed here in Kenshi it’s an absolutely horrible attempt at making a Toothpick Crossbow.
Xinnian Weapons have 3 levels of research and require all vanilla Weapon research to craft.
Xinnian Bow’s can be researched at level 2 wth no prerequisites.
Power – Electricity for the Masses
This overhaul offers 3 new paths to Power.
The first and Easiest is Xinnian Grass Biofuel. Farm Xinnian Grass, Make it into Biofuel. Simple.
The next is Steam Power. after research advanced generator’s you can research Steam Power, which will allow you to make a Water Boiler that functions! Giving you boiling water, which then it put into the Stream Generator, and the power is yours!
Late Game you might find yourself need a SERIOUS amount of Power. Introducing Hydrogen Power.
Requiring All Vanilla Power research to be done, you can research Hydrogen Fuel Theory, which allows you to build the Chemical Seperator and the Chemical Purifier.
But be warned these two buildings end up draining a total 1000 power to Operate. High cost, but the reward? Hydrogen Fuel, and remember it only drains while the two buildings are active and each one has it’s own electricity pool of 201 and 799 respectively.
Take water and put it into the Seperator, after a while you will get Unrefined Hydrogen Fuel. Next put that Fuel into the Purifier, you’ll need someone to stand watch to make sure it doesn’t overheat, but once it purifies you get Pure Hydrogen Fuel.
After researching Hydrogen Generators, just put in your Hydrogen Fuel and you will be blessed with a large output of 3600 for your efforts.
Now we’re cooking with Hydrogen!
Crafting – Ancient Xinnian Techniques
High-Tech Crafting
There’s many new ways to create all sorts of item’s. We’ll go over different different crafting buildings here.
A.I. Core Fabricator
Just as the name implies this building lets you fabricate A.I. cores using Electrical Components and a Capacitor.
Capacitor’s aren’t the easiest to find to don’t expect to go crazy making them.
Available after researching Steel Bars and Electrical Crafting.
Ancient Book Press
This machine allows you to create Ancient Science Books from Hemp and Parchment.
You’ll need to research Fabric Manufacture and Hemp Farming, with a tech level 3 to create this building.
Manual Book Press
Same as the Ancient Book Press except for regular books.
Limb Replacement
After researching Skeleton Limbs, you’ll be able to research Xinnian Robotic Limbs, which are masterfully made, allowing one to nearly forget they’ve lost a limb at all.
Xinnian Robotic Tools
When Xinnian’s created their own robotic limbs, repair kits were bound to happen.
Better than Authentic Skeleton Repair Kit’s you’ll find these go the extra mile.
Xinnian Toolkit’s are like regular Tools, except they can be used 5 times before they break.
Both are crafted in the Robotic’s Bench and are avaliable for research after completing Robotics.
Parchment Press
Using Riceweed and Hemp you can now start processing your own Parchment (Handy for making Books! See above.)
Avaliable after Hemp-Based Fabrics and Fabric Manufacture.
Production – Industry made Easy!
Upgrade your base and work like a Xinnian
Indoor Iron Refinery
Sometimes you need a little less space taken up with some projects, anyone can understand that. Using this building you can turn Iron Ore into plates with Ease! Requires Iron Refinery IV.
Xinnian Beds
Xinnians are afforded extra comfy beds from many hours studying how to make fabric softer, and now their technology is available to you!
After Researching Beds be sure to give these a try!
Xinnian Defensive Walls
One of the most powerful wall’s out there, they come with a price. Regular Walls can’t be upgraded into them, requiring them to be torn down before these can be built. Requiring Power, and Steel to fabricate them- They will ensure Nothing will get into your base. Also comes with a Gate and Ramp Variant.
Metal Transmutation
Xinnia is lacking in resources when it comes to copper, but with help from Science, you can change that Iron into Copper! (Or Vice Versa)
First you will need to create a Transmutation Seal Maker, which uses Animal Teeth to create Transmutation Seals.
Transmutation Seals can be used to create a Iron to Copper, or a Copper to Iron Metal Transmuter.
Transmuting comes at a cost, With a 5:1 Ratio both ways, make sure you’re not moving resources back and forth!

Training – Mind over Matter
Advanced Scientific Training
After Researching Advanced Training Dummies, There’s not many options for training your mind.
Xinnian’s praise learning as much as combat prowess.
Added are four Buildings
- Science Training Bench
- Robotics Training Bench
- Engineering Training Bench
- Medic Training Dummy
The Benches require power but the Dummy does not.
Each will train skills to 80.
