WARNING: A LOT OF TEXT!
Approximate time to get 100% of achievements ~300-350 hours.
The guide is written to make it easier to get 100% of the achievements in the game and save you time. It includes a description and ways to get all achievements by game state of 10/12/2021 (v.2071465), a list of all missions with objectives and their description, also some advices on the game based on my personal experience.
I tried to describe moments that caused me or may cause you difficulties. If you find an error or have questions, feel free to ask in the comments (I will try to answer the first time after the publication of the manual ).
And do not forget to rate it, I tried very hard to write this guide 🙂
Introduction
Sorry for the mistakes in the text. Initially, this guide was written in another language and I partly used Google Translator for translation.
As you already understood, the entire guide is filled with SPOILERS. So, if you are interested in the story of the game, I advise you skip the part with the content of the missions.
Most of the achievements in the game are not difficult, but time time-consuming, and depend more on luck than skill. For example, in the reserve 50 animals you need with a GOLD rating can be generated, but you can choose such a search route that you will not meet any of them and even will not find their traces. I decided to divide the achievements into those that can be obtained on any map during the gameplay, and those that can only be obtained in the corresponding reserves.
If you are only interested in getting/viewing ACHIEVEMENTS, then for convenience, such sections of the manual are marked with an arrow ( or ), ignoring two maps without achievements.
A significant part of the achievements are somehow related to the completion of missions, so I decided to include them in the guide as well. In addition, the list of missions is useful for understanding the “scale” of the game and the approximate time that will need to be spent on their passage. And what I would like to note separately is the ability to get some animals needed to get achievements during certain missions. (During my walkthrough, this information would be very useful to me, which is why I decided to write this guide).
Game Advices
Note: This is not advice on “best leveling” or “best weapon set”, but only my recommendations based on personal experience of the game, which will probably help you save some time when completing missions and hunting animals.
1. General advices
- The most banal, pay attention to the direction of the wind, noise emitted and visibility. Therefore, when when upgrading skills, you should first of all choose skills that allow you to make less noise (the “Soft feet” skill) and better hide in hideout (“Improvised blind”). P.S. The use of scent eliminator almost had no effect on animal detection in my opinion.
- Usually, places of large concentrations of animals are watering places. That is, approaching a reservoir at almost any time of the day, there is a high probability of finding some kind of animal there.
- When you sneak up on an animal and it warns you with a cry, it’s best to immediately lie down and rest for a while, or carefully continue moving if you can to see that the animal is not agitated (“Spotting knowledge”).
- Often traces can break for a long time, to continue the pursuit, you can draw a straight line between the last two traces found and continue along this line. If no tracks were found after 50-100 meters, it is better not to waste time and try to track down another animal.
- Don’t be afraid to overuse callers, often to lure an animal from the watering hole, you had to use a caller 2-3 times in a row. Spamming a caller and using a silent weapon from the hideout, you can get animals in whole herds.
- For the fastest possible getting of an animal it is better to use weapons with the largest caliber, but corresponding to the class of the animal. For example, Boar (class 4) is convenient to get with a Huntsman .270 rifle (ammunition class 4-8).
- Fatal wounds (quick death) will be a shot to the brain, lungs, liver, heart. Non-fatal (slow death) – stomach, intestines. A shot to the spine can be fatal, but to do this, you need to be close enough to the animal (about 70 meters) and shoot a bullet with maximum penetration for a weapon (with a polymer tip) so that the bullet passes right through.
- I will separately take out that it is most convenient to get animals by shooting in the lungs if they are sideways to you. With sufficient penetration and a short distance, standing perpendicular to the animal, you can shoot through two lungs at once and the animal will die almost immediately. If animal standing facing you , try to shoot at the heart (you’ll get used to its location over time), even with a miss in the heart, you will at least hit the lung. I strongly advise you not to shoot at the brain, it is small and animals often shake their heads from side to side, which is why there is a high probability of a miss.
- Try to complete tasks parallel to each other, they often intersect and in this way you can save yourself time and not perform repetitive actions. Also, if the task is to get an animal with a speed of 100, it would be better to use weapons for higher classes.
- When there is not enough money, the most comfortable way to farm them is to shoot brants in Hirschfelden. It is enough to put model baits on several fields, recumbent ambush and start to lure the brants with a caller. Further, after the brants sit on the field, with the help of a pistol (it will allow you to aim and shoot faster), you can shoot 4-5 brants at a time. When the hunting press has increased greatly, it is enough to change the field and so on in turn. (Also, as a last resort, to reset the hunting press, you can replace the animal_population_0 file with clean file – [nexusmods.com] ).
2. Weapon
When choosing a weapon, I was guided by a good range, because in order to sneak up on animals every time you need to spend a lot of time. Ammunition I chose with high penetration (with a polymer tip). Expansive ammunition, although it does more damage, is mainly designed for close range and often gets stuck in the soft tissues or bones of the animal, leaving a wounded animal.
The optimal set of weapons for me looks like this:
Weapons | Animal class |
---|---|
Virant 22.LR EXPRESS | 1 |
Ranger .243 | 2-6 |
Crosspoint CB-165 Dark Star | Varies depending on the type of ammunition |
And the fourth weapon is replaced depending on the need:
Weapons | Animal class |
---|---|
Huntsman .270 | 4-8 |
.300 Canning Magnum Frontier | 7-9 (instead of .270 for bison and buffalo locations) |
King 470DB Zenith | 9 (for quick killing of large animals) |
3. Skills
I found this leveling of skills the most convenient, do not be afraid to change it at your discretion. I will not show weapon upgrades. this is already quite individual, but still I recommend taking the “Zeroing” skill for convenient long-range shooting.
Stalker.
Ambusher.
4. Third party services
It is also worth mentioning a convenient program and site that cannot be considered cheats because they provide only a minimal advantage in the form of additional information for a convenient game.
4.1 I’ll start with the site thehuntercow – [thehuntercow.ru] , which has information about animals, weapons, and more. But the main thing that this site is interesting for is interactive map. It allows you to see the habitat of animals, the areas of their needs (watering, feeding, rest) and a lot of additional information (in Russian). It saves a lot of time, as it allows you not to explore on your own and not to remember the habitats separately for each location.
4.2 The following program will be useful primarily for finding rare trophies. It’s called Animal Population Scanner – [nexusmods.com] , the program analyzes the population files (animal_polulation) and shows which animals are present on the map and their rating. Helps to make sure whether the desired diamond trophy is on the map or not. If it is missing, you can replace the generated population file with clean file – [nexusmods.com] and regenerate it by running the game, do this until the desired animal appears.
General
Note: Achievements are earned as you progress through the game.

Advice: If you're having problems with the achievement, the easiest way to get it is in the Cuatro Colinas map (and at the same time you can complete Baden's "A Bit of a Long Shot" quest). To do this, you will need to climb to the lookout position of Torre de Javier (Javier Tower, coordinates -5760.722, 6494.437), which offers a fairly good view of the hill, where mountain goats often graze at the distance we need. In addition, I will say that for a shot at 400 m., you need to set the aiming distance to 300 m. (Zeroing skill) and aim approximately in the middle between the center of the aiming grid and the first notch below this center. Since there is a high chance of hitting only soft body tissues or bone, I recommend using a weapon for big animals (for example, .300 Canning Magnum Frontier for 7-9 classes of animals).
Note: I spent ~5-10 minutes on the killing of this animal in the way described earlier.

Advice: To get the achievement, it is enough to take a picture of all animals, except for hares and ducks. In addition, for the photo of the animal to be counted towards the achievement, you need to:
- Take a photo at a distance of ~30-50 meters (The closer, the better. From a distance of more than 30 meters, there is a chance that the photo may not be counted);
- Take pictures of animals not blocked by obstacles. For example, if the animal in the photo is covered by a tree even by a third, the photo may not be counted.
Hunting
Note: Some animals are found in several reserves and it makes no sense to purposefully get the right amount of animals to get achievements right away. Therefore, first of all, you should focus on completing missions, so you can get the required number of animals along the way. And do not forget to look at the habitats of animals on the interactive map described earlier in “Game Advices”.

Doc #8 | Turns out we need to do a push to control the population!
Doc #9 | Now try the bow on a big one in Mount Kraken!
Doc #10 | This one is tricky, we need a photo of a live one pretty close up.
Doc #11 | Now when you’ve warmed up a little, why don’t you investigate some more animals in the area?

Doc #26 | Let’s get close now!
Doc #27 | The 6-year-olds are the nicest ones, they are usually worth a high value. Use the dark to your advantage!

Doc #29 | Time to estimate the state of the deer population!

Doc #30 | The population is still to high in this region. Keep it up and stick to the stands this time!
◉
Emily Connors
Connors #1 | I got my notebook back. Thanks! I was writing when I saw this group of beauties close to the tower, see if you can study their behavior!
---|---|
Connors #2 | There seems to be a few of them in Norden, might be worth checking them out?
Connors #3 | You know, I could never hunt myself but someone once said that the shotgun sure packs a pucnh. I’ll stay away from that!
Connors #4 | Heard you helped Paul out with a lost person! Nice going. Here’s a hint for you: The Roosevelt elk scare easily, so make sure to keep you distance!
Connors #5 | Their awareness also makes it extra challenging to get close!
Connors #6 | People say it’s hard to see the difference between whitetail and blacktail antlers, and that’s true! But the Roosevelt’s antlers. I’d say that Roosevelt ones are the best!
Connors #7 | Sometimes I think that Calburn has more Roosevelts than Norden. But I’m not sure.
Connors #8 | Sometimes the interactions between Roosevelt elk and whitetails can be really interesting. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of them together while waiting in a bling!
Connors #9 | I’m on bed rest nowe with this sprained ankle. Sometimes I see them coming in a long row from the tower. I guess you’d like that.
Connors #10 | That fire could have easily grown and gotten out of hand. Thanks for taking care of it. I’ve been thinking a little, and if I’d ever start hunting, I’d like to learn to use the bow.
Fiona Vualez
Vualez #1 | Thanks for the help with the coyotes! As you know they are coming in from the east and spreading fast, investigate please.
---|---|
Vualez #2 | Yes, they are indeed spreading fast, take a few out please!
Vualez #3 | I’d like to investigate the coyotes’ communications during this season, plese track and listen to them!
Vualez #4 | The best way to hunt a coyote is one shot with the right weapon.
Vualez #5 | See if you can lure them closer using a caller, it usually works pretty well with coyotes.
Vualez #6 | Sometimes we have to stay ahead and take measures against population increases. For example, the mating season starts soon!
Vualez #7 | It’s always best to hit the animal where it kills, as painlessly as possible.
Vualez #8 | Time to go for a spree with the bow!
Vualez #9 | Sorry to hear about your bear problem. Anyways, the handgun can be good to have as a backup!
Vualez #10 | Time to get close, this is just to challenge your sneaking skills!
Paul Beatty
Beatty #1 | You got some skills man! Time to track some moose. They like swampy areas.
---|---|
Beatty #2 | Investigate their mating calls, I hear them a lot when guilding the tourists around. They actually answer calls!
Beatty #3 | Don’t like the disappearance of Trampfine at all. Anyways, my mama always said the meat from female moose tasted better. I’m not sure this is true. What do you think?
Beatty #4 | Let’s test your photography skills. I’m looking for a beauty of a rack.
Beatty #5 | Time for the lighting round, my dad once got 3 within the hour!
Beatty #6 | The moose is majestic compared to the deer in this area, have you seen it up close?
Beatty #7 | And some of these beauties can get really big, over a half tonne!
Beatty #8 | If I’m hiking in this area, I sometimes use the blinds as cover from the wind!
Beatty #9 | Sometimes the .44 mag is the only weapon I carry around.
Beatty #10 | The Big 4 huh! Nice one! I’ve never used the bow but my dad always rants about how I should try it out. You?
◉
Richard Hope
Hope #1 | Heard from Doc you helped out at the camp, thanks. Can you help out some more?
---|---|
Hope #2 | Could you help me out with some more hunting? Stuck repairing my camp again.
Hope #3 | Bears huh, I knew it! I usually don’t care about the antlers, but I’d like a nice pair to use for rattling.
Hope #4 | Ran into a hiker the othr day that asked me to round up some deer for him. Wanna help? I’ll deliver the meat to him.
Hope #5 | I can get really close to them, it’s like they’re used to having me around these days.
Hope #6 | Up in the mountains you can get a good view of the lower terrain, try getting one from far!
Hope #7 | Those are my favorite towers, I usually down at least one everytime I’m in one.
Hope #8 | Photo hiking, are we? In high Lake, there are less hikers around. I built some of the blinds there myself, try them out!
Hope #9 | I usually save the gun for critters, but sometimes I have to down a deer using a handgun!
Hope #10 | I hear you have a selection of guns. Myself, I carry only the rifle.

Jager #8 | I have found a trail along the river, you should be able to find some fallows if you go there now.
Jager #9 | Long-range night hunting is some of the most difficult you can try. Are you up for it?
Jager #10 | The most beautiful deer I have seen in a long time has been sighted at the Schonfeldt bunkers. An albino no less!
Robert Sommer
Sommer #1 | You liked the bow I suggested? Check out the roe deer in the area!
---|---|
Sommer #2 | Check out the fields of Petershain, you should be able to find a good one there!
Sommer #3 | Around Petershain Lake, the roe deer have really taken a few bites out of the farmers’ crops. Try to do something about it, and soon if you can!
Sommer #4 | Heard about Erik, good job! Try using a scope and take a roe out from afar!
Sommer #5 | Keep on thinning the population out, the farmers are still complaining!
Sommer #6 | The big ones are the ones that eat the most crops. Take them out!
Sommer #7 | Thanks for your work, but the deer are still sabotaging around Spreeberg, please hunt them down over there!
Sommer #8 | Don’t let them hear it coming, use the bow!
Sommer #9 | The ground blind is ingenious. I usually can get pretty close to the deer that way. Try one out close to the cornfields!
Sommer #10 | I’d like an estimate on the amount of deer around the Petershain Turbines, ID a few of them please. You can, of course, hunt a few as well!
Albertina Fleischer
Fleischer #1 | Thanks so much! I love the area around Bohndorf Lake, try visiting the waterfront there to catch another one!
---|---|
Fleischer #2 | Please investigate the red deer’s behavior by gathering some info in the area!
Fleischer #3 | Could you try to find a really, really nice one please? In the area around where I grew up!
Fleischer #4 | Personally, I’m not a big fan of Robert Sommer. Could you please find a big red deer? 120 kg at least!
Fleischer #5 | And another big one, please! But this time you should visit the area around Jonsdorf.
Fleischer #6 | The red deer are fantastic animals, show some respect by hitting them straight in the heart! That way they don’t suffer.
Fleischer #7 | This time I want you to go all sneaky on them, don’t scare them. Make yourself comfortable, and lie down prone.
Fleischer #8 | I like the blinds. They cover you from the sun and it’s just really cozy having your morning coffee in there while waiting.
Fleischer #9 | I haven’t been as close to a red since that day when I was lost in the woods, they are truly beautiful up close. You have to see it to believe it!
Fleischer #10 | I used to hunt red deer with a pistol. I even scored a huge buck! Why don’t you see if you can do the same?
◉
Marwin Tressler
Tressler #1 | Thanks, I hope Sommer is satisfied! Think I saw a few nice boars in the vicinity. Could you check on their health for me?
---|---|
Tressler #2 | I have seen tracks down in Ritterstein, they look promising. Try to see if you can track one down, then I’ll know there are more!
Tressler #3 | One tonne of fresh meat, how can you top that? My favorite spot is close to Bohndorf Lake, and once I saw a family of boar there, see if you can find them!
Tressler #4 | Try to find a bid one! Night hunting is the best!
Tressler #5 | It’s hard to get them out in the open, try using a blind to hide!
Tressler #6 | Try a handgun this time, maybe the .347, .44, or .454, love them all!
Tressler #7 | Wurst has finally fallen, wow! Get close to them this time, close enough to look them straight in their eyes!
Tressler #8 | I love using the bow on them. If you’re lucky, you can pick off several in a row!
Tressler #9 | Keep on using that bow, but this time at night!
Tressler #10 | Another one of those really scary looking boars has been sighted close to the logging area!
Vinay Bhandari
Bhandari #1 | My poor bison, I hope we can wing the cause of this. Please help me with some more research.
---|---|
Bhandari #2 | We are investigating the population and any additional traces of brucellosis amongst the bison.
Bhandari #3 | We would like to investigate the possibility of sterilizing the female bison. Could be easier to harvest at night.
Bhandari #4 | Continue with the population investigation in Ernsdorf, there are too many bison there!
Bhandari #5 | No time for more photos pal! We have to take out some of the big potent males.
Bhandari #6 | The bison scare easily from the sound of guns, try a bow instead!
Bhandari #7 | Sommerfest this, Sommerfest that. What about the bison? Two sick males have been sighted in eastern Tichenau.
Bhandari #8 | You know that bridge in Ernsdorf, we had a traffic accident there the other day. A bison was seen wandering around, it might be hurt.
Bhandari #10 | I’d like you to study one up close and report on behavioral patterns.
Бхандари #10 | Thanks for all your help with the bison this season. One last task: A wounded bison was sighted again, near the caves in Ernsdorf. This one might be aggressive though!
◉
Cornelia "Conni" Holzer
Conni #1 | Hi! Want to help me track some animals! I need you to ID different populations in Konigsberg. Don’t ask why. 😉
---|---|
Conni #2 | You should try shotgun hunting at Rinderland Gorge. It’s a blast! Enjoy the view while there.
Conni #3 | Try night hunting yet? Go for it! Just place your shot well. You don’t want a long retrieve @ night, trust me!
Conni #4 | Sommer’s happy again. How about trying handgun hunt? It’s not easy!
Conni #5 | Time to step it up with the handgun. Double or nothing!
Conni #6 | Your handgun skills are pretty good. Now try it out on some different animals!
Conni #7 | I could use some help with silent deer harvest in Ernsdorf. Got a bow?
Conni #8 | Bow hunting @ night is tricky, but less noisy which the locals like. Help me harvest a deer in Spreeberg with it?
Conni #9 | If you haven’t tried the 70 lb bow yet, you really should!
Conni #10 | Why don’t you try out our valentine challenge? An arrow to the heart! 😉
Conni #11 | Try to ID calls from foxes around Petershain Lake. We’ve seen a few over there, and I’m trying to get a count on the population.
Conni #12 | Let’s continue our examination of the fox population!
Conni #13 | Ok, looks like the population is in good shape, let’s start the hunt!
Conni #14 | In the field’s, you can’t get too close to a fox, or they’ll see you!
Conni #15 | Found a nice fox yet?
Conni #16 | The foxes seem to be thriving in the north as well!
Conni #17 | Tressler’s hunt can begin! By the way, have you seen a fox up close? It’s quite rare.
Conni #18 | Since foxes are small animals, this might be a challenge for you. Give it a shot!
Conni #19 | I bet you haven’t tried hunting for foxes on your belly yet.
Conni #20 | The fox population seems to be almost under control, let’s do one last push!

Harvest an animal in every subregion in Medved-Taiga National Park
86. Peppe's Challenge
Harvest 5 animals from the same herd with a single shot to the heart using a bow in Medved-Taiga National Park
Advice: Despite the fact that the achievement description says about hunting with a bow, you can also use a crossbow. I recommend trying to find a herd of reindeer in their habitat near the outpost (for example, often herds of deer gather for watering place near the Vetrenyye Plains Southern Outpost (coordinates -5332.394, -8875.490)) and make a backup of the save file (%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Avalanche Studios\COTW\Saves). This was done in order to give you a second chance to do the achievement without wasting time on looking for a new herd.
I will describe it step by step:
- First, you should get close to the herd, taking into account the wind and visibility, (preferably without disturbing the animals at all);
- After that, we use the decoy, with an interval between uses of a few seconds, and start shooting. After killing one deer, we again begin to actively use the decoy, if everything is done correctly, they will come running to you again. Repeat until we get 5 animals this way;
- If you did something wrong, download the backup.
87. You give love a bad name
Down 10 animals by hitting them in the heart with the Alexander Longbow in a single shot
Advice: Using the method described above (except for using a backup, which is redundant here), it is quite easy to get this achievement.
88. Shutterbug
Photograph every trophy animal species in Medved-Taiga National Park
The advice is similar to the achievement "Wildlife Paparazzi".
Exploration
Advice: An extensive series of achievements and to avoid repetition I leave a link to a good guide that I used when obtaining them. (Don’t forget to rate this guide if it helped you.) I saw a lot of posts on the forum that some people did not get achievements, although they were sure that everything they needed was found. Therefore, I recommend making a backup save file (%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Avalanche Studios\COTW\Saves) both at the beginning of the game on the map, and before finding the last collectibles.

These achievements were added for Halloween 2017, and all of them, except for “Trick or Treat!”, were available during Halloween every year thereafter. But in 2020, the event was canceled and, judging by the forum, the conflict of the latest changes in the game with these missions is to blame, that is, right at the moment, achievements can no longer be obtained. (Perhaps they will still be added in future versions of the game).
The only possible way at the time of writing the guide, which I found, is to download the old version of the game at the time of the first event. The DepotDownloader program can help with this, with the following code:
dotnet DepotDownloader.dll -app 518790 -depot 518791 -manifest 571650642277926356 -username **** -password ****
Due to slow internet speed or a poor connection, downloads may be interrupted prematurely.
More information about the program and its use can be found in the following guide:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2353930763 – [steamcommunity.com]
Note: This method may not be available soon, due to the addition of the ContentServerDirectory.GetManifestRequestCode method to the steam client, due to which the client will request a code that changes every 5 minutes.

122. A Sample of Parque Fernando's Finest
Complete Parque Fernando's Trophy Collection
Advice: The most problematic achievement in the game, for which you need to get Diamond Trophies of ALL animals in the reserve. I did it this way: I went into the reserve, thereby generating the animal_population_4 file in the save files of the game, and checked this file in the Animal Population Scanner program described above in the "Game Advices" section. If the animal I need is contained in the file in the amount of 2-3 individuals, I started hunting, otherwise I replaced the population file with a clean one and tried again.
(If you are really desperate, I saw generated population files in Nexusmods with an increased number of animals and diamond trophies. I do not recommend this method, because it can be considered equivalent to a cheat)

Vicente Vargas
Seal of Approval | This is Vicente, Carolina’s nephew. Hope you are doing well out there! We have some formalities to run through before you are licensed and approved. For a start, harvest any animal in Prados dy Lupinos. We’ll submit your results to the Fauna Departmento for approval.
---|---|
Sharpshooter Certification | Next up, we’ll need to certify you as a master sharpshooter. Harvest an animal with a rifle shot from a distance over 100 meters. Only the quickest kill with passed harvest check.
Scouting Certification | You made that look easy. Now for your scouting certification. Track an animal, then harvest it while it is rest. With this certification, you can take over training my sister’s pendejitos for me!
Duck Soup | You are 99% certified now. Before we conclude… Carolina is hosting a dinned for the minister of the Fauna Departmento, and we hear his favorite food is duck. Harvest 3 ducks with passed harvest check and our chef will prepare a world famous, 5-star duck soup.
Marksmanship and Finesse | The minister won’t be able to resist our chef’s duck soup! Thank you. We have just one more certification test to fully license you as our Master Hunter. You need to spook an animal, shoot it while it’s fleeing, then harvest it. I promise you, no more tests for the Departmento after this!
Dinner for Two | You really are the warden than Carolina hoped you’d be! Maybe you can help me with something more… personal? I’ll pay you, of course. There’s this girl… Okay, it’s Beatriz Cabrera. Chinita. And I want to prepare the perfect evening to let her know how much I care. Could you harvest a red deer, pass the harvest check with a quick kill bonus? I may not be our chef, but I can prepare quite a dinned when I have the right ingredients. Do this for me and I will officially owe you a big favor.
Beatriz Cabrera
Gunslinger | Hola, che! Beatriz aka Chinita here. Carolina mentioned me, yes? My family and I work at her estancia. We’re traditional guachos, you might say. And the thing is, we gauchos have a challenge for you. Take down an animal with a handgun, and they’ll recognize your skill.
---|---|
Mule Deer Roundup | My family liker you! That’s good luck around here. And you’ll need it, because we have work to do. Mule deer are overpopulating at a rate we can’t sustain. Can you harvest 3 male mule deers to suppress them?
Night Tracker | Nice work with the mule deer. That should keep them in check… for now. I’ve also been tracking the habits of axis deer to see where they overlap with other deer in the parque. It’ll help if you do the same, and we’ll compare notes, yes? Spot 3 axis deer at night.
Random Sampling | Gracias! Here’s a difficult assignment. Every reserve on the continent has been asked to contribute to a randomly sampled study of communicable diseases in pumas. Carolina won’t like it, but we need you to harvest a puma for an autopsy.
Buffalo Chaser | Carolina took the puma harvest well. It helps that you were the one hunting them. How are you with water buffalo? We need a waste sample, so find water buffalo tracks and follow them until you find dung, and sample it. After that, harvest a water buffalo, yes? I’ll distribute the meat to local farmers.
A Flower for Vicente | I’ve got a date with someone you might know… VICENTE> Que churrrrrro! I really want to express my feelings for him, but I’m not so good with words. We used to play at Prados de Lupinos. I can’t get over there at the moment… If you pick up some fresh lupines, and send them my way, you will be my new best friend!!!
Puma Control | Che, you are the best!! I honestly didn’t know if you took me seriously or not… Vicente will love this! I owe you a favor. But first, I must ask more of you. The province says our pumas are overpopulation in tandem with the mule deer. We need to head this problem off before it escalates. Can you harvest just one male puma? An alpha? Think silver medal or higher.
Mariana Luna
Poisoned Fruit | Hi there! Dr. Mariana Luna here. Carolina says you can help with my field research. I’m so grateful! I’ve found evidence of toxic berry plants invading the reserve. I need you to locate 3 waste samples in the Lago Gallegos region, each from a different species, to find out if the animals are eating this poisoned fruit. Please and thanks!
---|---|
Junto al Lago Spotting | That was a dirty job, but thanks to you, we know the animals aren’t eating those bad berries. That may change if too many animals complete for the flora in Junto al Lago. Please go to Junto al Lago and see if you can spot a water buffalo, a blackbuck, and a mule deer.
Resting Behavior | Junto al Lago may be in danger of overgrazing. Good thing you’re here to cull the herds! Have you seen any animals along the way? Healthy animals follow a regular schedule, so I monitor their rest patterns for irregularities. Track an animal and spot it at rest, could you please?
◉
Matias Mateo
A study in Blackbuck | My friend, my friend. I am the one they call Matmat. Yes, it is me. You and I can make beautiful work together. Arts. Crafts. Profitable things! At the moment, I’m looking for a blackbuck. This will be my first time working with blackbuck, so take care to harvest the animal and pass the harvest check.
---|---|
The Perfect Pelt | I think I’m going to like working with blackbuck. That was a fine specimen for taxidermy, gracias! Now, I want an axis deer. I’m going to taxidermy it to preserve it in its moment of death. Dark, yes? Bring me an axis deer killed with a heart shot, to represent the bleeding hearts of all things.
Our Gift to Carolina | My friend, you and Matmat are making miracles with flesh and bone. We have Carolina to thank for this fruitful partnership. We should present her with a trophy… Yes, a trophy! Harvest a mule deer, silver medal quality at least, and I’ll do the rest!
Gold Medal Bird | Carolina is going to flip when she sees what we present to her. You are a marvel! A muse! And an equitable partner. I have a request from Buenos Aires for an “exquisite” cinnamon teal — meaning gold medal or higher. I’m up to the task if you are, che.
A Saddle for Beatriz | Is there anything you CAN’T hunt? Maybe you can help me with an impossible mission. I got a request from, believe it or not, Vicente Vargas. He wants me to craft saddle from water buffalo hide, dedicated to some gal named “Beatriz”. To do that, I need a water buffalo that’s intact… downed in just one shot.
Juliana Ferrari
Lodge Showcase | Hey hey HEY!! Carolina says you are her eyes on the ground. I’m Juliana Ferrari, founder of PataCamp Outfitters. My clients are the best of the best!! Photograph your new lodge and I’ll send out an email blast that will have them all SALIVATING!!
---|---|
Cultural Attractions | I got an EXCELLENT response on that photo of the lodge that you sent. The hunters are coming!! The thing is, not every client is a hunter. Some people pay just to sightsee. Have you seen the cave paintings in Lago Bebe? THAT is a sightseeing attraction. Photograph the Cueva de lad Manos and I’ll bring the sightseers!!
Everybody Loves Ducks! | Wonderful, we have our cultural attraction. Now we need our mass appeal!! My marketing team can edit photos of cinnamon teal to say cute things and spread them around the Internet. It sounds silly. Trust me, the results are worth it. But we’re short on photos to edit. I need you to photograph 3 or more cinnamon teal in the same shot. CUTENESS!!
The Office Trophy | Our marketing strategies are working!! I even have VIP clients coming to my office in Buenos Aires to discuss their trips. Having a trophy from Parque Fernando here certainly would impress them. I’ll pay well if you harvest a red deer for me. It must be high quality!! GOLD MEDAL at least!!
Where the Pumas Lie | With game like that red deer, Parque Fernando sells itself!! Now finish our brochure. Have you visited Guarida de los Pumas Mimados? Go there and photograph the puma den. Something SPOOKY to show our thrillseekers!!
Yearbook Photos | Uf, Carolina doesn’t approve of me using the den photo. She’d rather we focus on more traditional draws, like premium game. I get it!! Can you photograph each of the 4 most popular species? Axis deer, blackbuck, mule deer, and red deer. T TRUST YOUR EYES!!
Word-of-Mouth | Carolina loved those new photos!! Thank you for saving me on that one. Now, how do you feel about sponsorships? My friend Ariel owns the local ammunition depot that supplies Carolina. Can you harvest an animal a slug? Ariel’s request. If we promote Ariel’s ammo, he will promote our Parque. GOOD BUSINESS!!
Carolina Vargas
Note: Combined similar goals in the first mission.
Parque Fernando Trophy Collection | Now that I’ve seen you at your best, I’ve got a new long-term goal for you: Harvest a diamond trophy from *every* species in the reserve. Only one other hunter has collected them all. Naturally, that hunter was me. But that was some time ago, and if we’re going to impress our guests, we need more recent trophies at the lodge — to prove that the red stags today are as grand as they were in 1987, viste?
---|---|
Challenge Circles | The stone circles discoverable around the reserve are not, as some have inquired, spiritual artifacts. Every challenge is automated with motion sensors. Wherever you see a stone circle, enter it. Your target will appear and the challenge begins. Try using a variety of weapons for every target. Find your weaknesses and eliminate them!

Advice: To my surprise, after completing all the missions, I still didn't find 50 lesser kudu for the achievement. If you are faced with the same, you can see their habitat on the interactive map thehuntercow - [thehuntercow.ru] [thehuntercow.ru] (desirable to find a watering place to spend less time looking for them ). Lesser kudu can form herds of up to eight individuals.

Njabulo Tshabangu
Welcome to Springbok City | Learn about the resident of Springbok City by spotting male and female springbok.
---|---|
Hunting Springbok | Harvest a springbok and pass the harvest check using just one bullet in Vuxa.
Become the Lion | Cull the herd by harvesting five springbok. If you really want to show off, see if you can get within 50 meters of three springbok and spool them before you shoot. Easy for you, right?
Chase the Wildebeest | Assess the wildebeest herds. Spot three wildebeests without causing a stampede. And take notes!
The Safe Approach | Stampedes are easier to start than they look. Harvest three wildebeest, but only shoot from at least 150 meters away.
Behavioural Studies | Here’s an easy, bloodless task. I’m documenting wildebeest herd behaviors for a local biologist. Can you take a photo of a wildebeest feeding on the reserve?
Of Hares and Jackals | Take a look at the lazy jackals and “prolific” scrub hares in Vupeladyambu. Spot one of each.
Safety Hazard | Repair the broken bridge to provide these animals with another path off the plateau.
Motivate the Jackals | Time to motivate some lazy jackals. Harvest three of them and pass the harvest check so we can donate them to a local dietary study.
Scrub Hare Challenge | Ready to hunt these hopped-up hares? Let’s make it interesting. Bag five bunnies in one hunt, and pass the harvest check, too. That’s five consecutive harvests. Child’s play for you, eh?
The Widowmaker | Widowmaker don’t play around, Grandchild. Spooking them courts death, so practice a stealth approach to spot a cape buffalo in N’walungu.
Staying Alive | Size matters when hunting, right? For a big buffalo, you need a big gun. Show me how you handle a 470 on a buffalo hunt.
No Margin for Misfires | Accustomed to the 470 yet? You better be, it could save you life! Harvest three more buffalo — and show me that you can down them for a quick kill. Check your codex if you’re not sure about correct shot placement.
Boss vs Alpha | The buffalo her won’t disperse unless we threaten their alphas. Harvest an alpha buffalo, but with care. These animals are too majestic to use for food alone. Harvest an alpha with gold-level quality and we can donate the animal for display in a museum.
◉
Maria Mboweni
Legal Sources | Ahee, Warden. Njabulo says you’re quite the hunter. Good enough to turn Vurhonga around even. That’s good to hear. I lead a local group, the Vurhonga Sustainable Hunters Coalition. As it is, local villages have lost so many food sources, their only alternative is to buy poached meat. The VSHC supplies regional villages with legally harvested animals to solve that problem. With that in mind, our springbok supplies are low for this season, and the villagers tend to prefer the flavor of springbok who graze in Vuxa. Must be a little magic in their diet. Do you have time to harvest a springbok in Vuxa?
---|---|
Trap Raid | The VSHC and I thank you for that springbok. While you are in the Vuxa, we’ve gotten reports of traps that need dismantling. Please, it’s urgent that you remove these traps before they do any harm.
Ceremonial Warthog | Those traps will not hurt anything now. Ndza nkhensa, Warden. I’ve got a challenging request from some elders hosting a burial feast. Seems their late relative was fond of hunting warthogs, and they want to share one to honor him. Trouble is, no one else in the village has ever hunted warthog before. Being that this is for a funeral, the elders have a specific requests: the warthog must die quickly, almost instantly. Best way to do that? Get in close and use a handgun. Think you can pull that off?
Canine Disease | Njabulo was right — your skill are remarkable! Ndza nkhensa! Now we need your help on something else. The jackal packs are booming, and so are reports of canine diseases loke rabies. We don’t know the real extent of these problems, though. We need samples. Here’s the twist with that — we’d like to test for a variety of diseases within related bloodlines, so hunters are bringing us samples in pairs. Find a pack, spot a pair of jackals together, then harvest them both. Good luck.
The Old Way | You are prolific, Warden. This next one is for a San family in the neighboring valley, the only traditional family left for 1000 km. They have no cape buffalo in their valley, but they will make use of whole animals if we provide them. Here’s where the challenge comes: Being traditionalists, they prefer things done the old way — with arrows. Bow or crossbow, if doesn’t matter, as long as you avoid bullets. The healthiest buffalo live in N’walungu. Go there, track at least three different buffalo, select your favorite, and harvest it.
Proof of Poachers | Aweh, that was some buffalo you sent to the San! While you’re at N’walungu, we’ve noted some illegal traps in the area that could trouble the buffalo. These damn poachers never let up. Can you do me a favor? Before you disarm the traps, take a photo of one. I’ll add that to our file for the police. Once you get the photo, go ahead and dismantle the terrible contraptions.
Ceremonial Buffalo | One last mission for you at N’walungu. That buffalo you harvested for the San? Word got around about your skill, and now, a family has asked if we could supply a buffalo for a farewell ceremony. They are sending their on to university in the city, and hope the buffalo’s spirit will tell their ancestors to protect her. And of course, the buffalo will also be used for a tribal feast. You don’t need to use a bow, but the animal must pass the harvest check to ensure it’s food-grade. The family expressly requested a MALE animal – for recipes that require, I imagine, more “masculine” ingredients…

Flip Ospreay
Photo Sample | Word up, Friend! Flip Ospreay here. Njabulo gave me ur #. That cave painting pic u took was solid!! Want more work? Want more $$$? Show me sumthing w/ wildlife. Snap ur best PHOTO of ANY ANIMAL in DZONGA. Show me ur the real deal!!
---|---|
Need Zones | That’s a cover shot right there, Pal!! Njabulo hyped ur hunting skills big time, so I bet u know how to scout need zones & all that jazz… Let’s see u TRACK & SPOT specific species!! Say.. 1 BLUE WILDEBEEEST & 1 LESSER KUDU. Then I’ll know ur ready for BIG LEAGUE work!!
Lake View | Dang, Buddy!! Ur in — welcome to the BIG LEAGUE!!! First “official” gig is mad easy. Hook me up w/ a PHOTO of THVAKILE WHIVI, the dirty lake that Njabulo cleaned. Need it for a magazine story. 1 well-framed shot = more $$$ for u!!

Museum Mpfundla | Hot diggity dog, Partner!! U keep coming thru for me. Now… Wanna do some extracurricular hunting??? I’m putting together a museum diorama that recreates a South African hunting camp. It’s gonna be LIT!! But! I’m short a few scrub hares. Can u harvest 3 for me? Any 3 SCRUB HARES. Use a SHOTGUN. My taxidermist can make it look like they’ve just been harvested!! Ever see those old cartoons with the hunter and the bunny that always gets away??? That’s totally gonna be u, except u can actually CATCH ur rascally rabbits!!
Scene of the Tragedy | U ain’t no joke, Hunter. I’ll send u pics of the finished diorama later. Now… Here’s a more somber assignment — U know about the accidents at the Plateau?? Course u do. Tourists ignore the signs, pass the Weeping Face, cross the bridge, slip, fall, and… that’s usually the end. I’m writing a story on the site, the people who’ve died there, and Njabulo’s earnest efforts to prevent more accidents. Can u get me up-to-date photos of the Weeping Face and the suspension bridge at the Plateau>>
Technical Demonstration | Thanks, Matey!! Hopefully ur photos and my story will get a more tourists to read the signs on the Plateau, right?! Now… It’s time for my BIG REVEAL!! Ur brother helped me rig cameras throughout the park. If u let me, I’d like to record u hunting and use it for an instructional video. I will pay u BIG $$$ for participating!!! All game goes to local tribes courtesy of Maria Mboweni. And all u have to do is HUNT for these goals: 1. Down ANY ANIMAL with a HEART SHOT & harvest it. 2. Down & harvest 2 SPRINGBOK w/ a SHOTGUN
Flip’s Nak*d Eye Challenge | Comrade, u are RAD!!! Ur gonna like thins next assignment, it’s a vision test!! Ur mission, should u choose to accept it: 1. Down ANY ANIMAL for a QUICK KILL from >75M away — using a SCOPELESS RIFLE. Harvest it. Awwww yizzy!!
Flip’s Danger Action Gauntlet | WHOA!!! Rifle Master!! U just threw down the gauntlet, so here’s my gauntlet in response — my DANGER ACTION GAUNTLET!! Ur body is so ready!!!! Harvest ANY ANIMAL to meet each requirement. Given the limitations of each weapon, choose ur game wisely!!! 1. Use a HANDGUN w/ ONE SHOT. BLAM!!! 2. Use a SHOTGUN from 35 m. BADAM!! 3. Use a RIFLE and pass the harvest check. BOOM!!! 4. Hit the heart with a BOW or CROSSBOW. WOW!!
◉
Dr. Dana Maritz
Begin the Maritz Test | Dr. Dana Maritz here. You’re the new Senior Warden? Njabulo trusts you, so I should, but I didn’t get where I am in life by trusting people. I got here with competency, proficiency, and a commitment to excellence, and I expect all of the above from the people I work with. As far as I’m concerned, you’re unproven. Thus I’ve arranged a series of tests for you. There are other hunting exams, but the Maritz Test is the most rigorous. Why? Because “good enough” isn’t good enough. Do you want to be the best or be the rest? We’ll start with 4 objectives. Complete them in any order. I’ll monitor you using the cameras your brother and Flip Ospreay planted around the park.
---|---|
Brightest Day, Blackest Nigh | That Lesser Kudu bit was easy. Now let’s see how versatile you are. As Senior Warden, you’ve got to be on the job in brightest day and blackest night. Here you’ll be doing both. I expect top-flight performance.
Hog Collection | We’re still at the bottom of the skill curve. So far your performance has been adequate. Nothing to write home about, but fair enough. Next, we move to hog hunting. Routine work, really, so there’s no excuse for mistakes.
Bogged Down | I’m not going to praise just for tracking and bagging Warthogs, they’re extremely common game and not the least bit tricky to catch. Even a novice ranger can do that. Let’s start the more aggressive portion of the exam. Head to the swamps in Dzonga. Harvest any animal with a score of Silver or better. That’s it. Easy bar to clear. Show me results! Don’t get bogged down by carelessness like other hunters.
The Maritz Standard | Finally, you show me what I’m looking for. But asking you for Silver or better doesn’t meet the Maritz Standard. The Maritz Standard is Gold, always. Harvest any animal with a score of Gold –and if you can do better, do better. Do your best or don’t bother doing at all.
King of Rifles | You are hitting my quality bar and I like it. Keep this up, and I may just have a new favorite hunting companion. Next up: It’s not just a hunter’s skill that makes them the best. You need the best gear. And far as I’m concerned, when you’re going for big game, the King of Rifles is the King 470DB. This gun is as useful today as it was in 1910. Hammerless sidelock ejector, rising third-bite, automatic safe with stalking-latch, sling-swivels, and chopper-lump barrels with matt sight-rib and open sights. Harvest 3 animals with the 470DM. They don’t have to be Cape Buffalo, but I’ll be a Hell of a lot more impressed if they are.
How| Like a Bunny | Big guns are clearly not a problem for you. Guns aren’t enough out here in the bush, though. You need every tool in the kit. Side-striped jackals can be elusive. Use your Jackrabbit Distress Caller to attract a jackal, then harvest it. This is trickier than it sounds — you can’t just let rip with the caller and expect a jackal to come to you. You’ll have to find a need zone or other area that you know the jackals frequent, then use it. That’s the real test here.
Master of Widowmakers | We are now ascending to the top of the skill curve. This is rarefied air. Making it this far places you in the top 5% of my students. If you want to make the top 1%, don’t slack off. Especially when dealing with the Widowmaker. Your objective: Find and identify Cape Buffalo tracks, then track and harvest the buffalo. The challenge? You must bring down the buffalo with ONE SHOT that hits BOTH LUNGS for maximum lethality. A buffalo’s rib cage protects its vital organs from most angles. Pick your point of entry before you shoot. Have you studied buffalo anatomy yet? Now might be a time to refresh yourself.
The Maritz Final Exam | With any skill shot like that, you have cause for pride, but don’t get ahead of yourself. You still have to pass my final exam. Equip the king 470DB if you’re not already carrying it and harvest a Cape Buffalo with a Gold score or higher. The #1 quality a Maritz-approved hunter needs is integrity, so bring down the buffalo with a passed harvest check. This is how you show respect for the animal, respect for the land, and respect for yourself. Anything less and I don’t know how people live with themselves. Good luck, Warden. Let’s see your best work.

Brother
Fecal Matters | Yo, Peanut. Good times havin u back. Grandfather been driving me nuts. Sorry I haven’t called — texting is better. Who calls anymore, anyway? GRANDFATHER. ALL THE TIME. Anyway. Here’s crappy job, but u gotta do it. Collect DROPPINGS from 3 DIFFERENT SPECIES. It’s for the local veterinarian. Why any 3 random species? Who knows. She’s probably testing for rabies or something. Vurhonga’s clean, but all around us? Outbreak. Full on. So u best go get that dookie.
---|---|
Show Off | Never were afraid to get ur hands dirty, Peanut. Please wash them before starting this next thing. It’s a chance to show off ur hunting skills and I know how much u looooove that. Am I jealous? Of course I’m jealous. Grandfather worships u. But I also admire u, so, whatever. We need u to harvest a SIDE-STRIPED JACKAL using a BOW or CROSSBOW. Quick & clean. No too hard for u, is that?
Muckraker | Show-off. U make it look so easy. How can I compare? All I’ve got is a university degree in computer science. Grandfather doesn’t understand how important computers are these days. I think he’s even afraid of them sometimes. Anyway. Next assignment will humble u. Go to the SWAMPS in Dzonga. Find TRACKS from 2 DIFFERENT SPECIES of animals. Txt me when ur done.
Drinking Buddies | Peanut, I’d thank u for ur work but that would only contribute to the ego that Grandfather is already intent on inflating ad infinitum so… Meh. Wanna do something else? We take random samples of animals at their watering holes to identify parasites and bacteria before they spread. Harvest ANY 2 ANIMALS and pass the HARVEST CHECK near a WATERING HOLE. I’m sure u won’t disappoint us.
Nocturnal Predator | Well, well, well, Peanut. Is this easy for u? Just another day in the office? Ur about to meet ur match. Grandfather’s superstitious friends are having a memorial feast in honor of Baden, and u have been chosen to obtain their meat. Go to the MOUNTAINS marked on your map at NIGHT and harvest ANY 2 ANIMALS with a BOW or CROSSBOW. Sure, u bagged a side-stripped jackal with an arrow before. But did u do it while climbing a mountain in the dark? If ur scared, it’s okay, u can admit it. At least give me that satisfaction.
Blind Master | U are a true nightcrawler, Peanut, and I begrudgingly admit that I respect u for that performance. Unfortunately, I must now listen as Grandfather openly refers to you as his “Favorite Grandchild”. In from of me. What did I do to deserve this torture? Also, Grandfather wants me to go out and camp in some HUNTING BLIND to harvest an animal. Can u do it for me, and say it was me? ANY ANIMAL. Please. Next time we hang together, I’ll jailbreak your HunterMate so it can do it all kinds of cool things. Deal? Deal.
Heart to Heart to Heart | Know what, Peanut? U got Grandfather off my back about the hunting blind! He’s proud of me and it feels good. Unfortunately, now he thinks I’m turning into an expert hunter like u… and he wants me to harvest 3 MORE ANIMALS with HEART SHOTS. Can u help me just one more time? Grandfather and I are having a breakthrough. Please do the hunting for me. Pretty please.

145. The Slam of Glory
Harvest 1 diamond male ibex of every species in Cuatro Colinas
Advice: Third place in difficulty in my top. I will explain why: the mountain ibex necessary for reaching are found only in a small limited area, that is, you will not need to run around looking for them all over the map. To speed up the finding of diamonds animals, you can use the Animal Population Scanner program, described earlier in the "Game Advices" section. We go into the reserve, thereby generating the population file animal_population_8 and analyze it using the program, if there are 2-3 animals we need in the reserve, we go hunting, otherwise we replace the population file with a clean one and generate it again.
P.S. Completion of the achievement can be combined with the completion of Don Miguel's "The Jewel in the Crown" mission, in which it is necessary to obtain an Diamond ibex.

Gerhardt "Gary" Baden
G.O.A.T. | Greetings and salutations! This is Gary Baden; we spent some time discussing hunting techniques over dinned, recently. I was wondering if you would be interested in a little friendly competition? I’ve already harvested two ibex this morning. Think you can catch up while I grab a nap?
---|---|
Starting to Boar Me | Well at least now I know that you’re capable of killing a couple of old goats. If I’ve learned anything while amassing my collection of hunting trophies, it’s that a true hunter isn’t afraid to go after prey that can fight back. Think you can harvest a pair of wild boars?
Feeling Sheepish? | Two boars? Not bad. Did you wait for them to fall asleep before you took your shots? No need to be embarrassed. It’s good technique for a rookie hunter. While you were out doing that, I’ve brought a pair of mouflon from the mountain. Not a bat day, so far.
Hundred-Meter Hurdles | It seems you enjoy emulating me. Whatever I shoot, you copy. It’s a little flattering, to be honest. I wonder if you can come close to matching my shots. You think you can efficiently kill an ibex from over a hundred meters away? I’d be impressed.
A Bit of a Long Shot | I guess we all get lucky from time to time. It’s all part of the hunt, right? I just nailed a kill shot at two-hundred and fifty meters. You think you can do any better? There’s no embarrassment if you can’t. I am after all, a multiple award winning hunter.
Take a Shot in the Dark | It’s remarkable how effective modern technology is in mitigating the errors that less experienced hunters tend to make, don’t you think? Still, good job. How do you feel about hunting at night? It can be intimidating for journeyman hunters, but you should give it a try.
Up & At Them | Clearly you have no problems with pulling the trigger and getting that kill shot. A real professional knows that the true test of a hunter is getting close without starling the animal. I was able to get within forty meters of an ibex before it bolted. Can you do better?
The Golden Touch | There’s prey out here that only the real-deal ever go after. If you want me to take you seriously, you’re gonna need to harvest a wolf. A premium specimen, too. You should see the one I’ve got my eye on just now. It’s gonna take something special to top this.
Baden’s Folly | I’ve been tracking a wolf, but every time I get close enough to take a shot, it disappears before I can find it in my scope. It’s smart, too; only ever coming out at night. Alejandra should know where to find me, if you’re up to it.
Jose Ruiz Hernandez
Blow the House Down | Hello, this is Mayor Hernandez. I understand that you are busy, so I will get straight down to business. I have had several complaints about wild boar from a farmer within the reserve, and I’d appreciate your help dealing with them. Normally I’d ask Alejandra, but having a direct line to you is better.
---|---|
Keep the Wolves from the Door | A pack of curious wolves are straying a little too close to one of the reserve’s most popular outposts. While this is the nature that many are coming here to see, it can be a little intimidating. I’d like you to harvest a couple of wolves around this outpost. Maybe it will teach them to avoid the area.
Not Ready to Rock | We often receive visitors who are not familiar with the dangers of roaming the countryside. This means that we must ensure they know the places that they ought to avoid. There is a particular area that could be dangerous, and I don’t want a lawsuit. Can you check to see if it is stable?
A Little Gamey | This week, I am hosting several guests from the Spanish government, and have promised them a dinner, composed entirely of locally sourced food it. It appears that the high-ranking minister has pulled out and sent an aide in his place, so we don’t need anything too fancy.
The farmer’s friend | Let me tell you something, my friend. Nobody fusses, grumbles or complains like a farmer with something on their mind. If I’m going to get their vote next year, I need you to make a show of hunting some animals that are encroaching on their farmland. Let them know I care.
The After-Party | I recently gave my brother the gift of an overnight stay in the reserve. He has repaid my generosity by inviting his friends to join him and throwing a party in the middle of this idyllic landscape. Sadly, this has resulted in quite a mess. Would you tidy it up before anyone sees it?
Award for Best Supporting Hunter | Many locals want a mayor takes part in traditional pastimes, such as hunting in our game reserve. Unfortunately I am simply too busy to go on a hunt, but perhaps you could taxidermise a prize specimen and allow me to display it in my office? Just until after the next election.
Press the Flesh | The minister has decided to visit after all, and wants to discuss my budget proposal for next year. If we don’t get that budget, this community is going to turn on me. I need your help to convince him we are worthy of investment. I need food and a picture of the lodge I’ll use to host him.

Padre Abbas
Find Yourself in Nature | Muy buenos, my friend. I am Padre Abbas. Alejandra tells me that you are willing to help me with my studies, but I would also like to offer something in return. Cuatro Colinas is a wondrous place to me. Before you do anything for me, I suggest that you take a little time to find yourself.
---|---|
Capture the Moment | We have something in common. We are both students of animal behaviour, and take satisfaction in predicting how animals will respond to us. I’d like you to take an opportunity to study the smallest creature you can find out here. Capture that moment your camera.
Our Night Companion | Humanity’s history is resplendent with folklore and mythology. The moon features heavily in the stories of almost every culture. In particular, I am fond of the moon above Cuatro Colinas. Can you capture a shot of the night sky from Balcon De Los Beatos?
Family Matters | The solitude that one experiences out in the reserve can be both freeing and melancholic. I see our lupine neighbours as examples of how to have the freedom of the wilds, while retaining what makes us a family, Would you take a picture of a pack of wolves, for me?
Iberia’s Crowning Glory | While I don’t hunt, Alejandra has helped me to understand the importance of the Iberian ibex, especially when it comes to the local perception. I’d like you to capture an image of each kind of ibex, to show that one need not shoot a creature to appreciate it.
A Painter’s Eye | There are few places more spectacular than what we call the “painter’s meadow”. I’d bet that someone with your expertise in photography could take a truly spellbinding shot of this slice of Spanish countryside.
The Bigger Picture | This place is so magical, is it not? I will never tire of walking the paths, hiking the mountains and sitting in contemplation by the lakes of Cuatro Colinas. The wider picture is best taken in from a good vantage point. You’ll get a great picture from the top of Lady Emilia’s overlook.
A View Fit for a Saint | The eastern ridges of the reserve offer some of the most amazing views of the river. Given that the river sustains the plants and animals that make this place so spellbinding, it seems only right that we capture a good shot from out on the eastern fringes.
In the Pilgrim’s Footsteps | Mush like the pilgrim, you have travelled far and wide in the pursuit of greater understanding. And appropriately, you have reached the final task on my list. Take one final picture for me, from the apex of the pilgrim’s climb. I will not forget you help in hurry.
Antonia "Nina" Acosta Gonzalez
Fresh Ingredients | Hello! This is Nina; I understand that you knew I’d be in touch? I am excited to sample the delights of the reserve. Why don’t we start off with something simple? I want to try making a traditional dish today, and I will need two hares to make it. Can you help me out?
---|---|
Professionally Pierced Pork | It won’t surprise you to hear that I am a purist, then it comes to my cooking. I am putting together a new menu and I need a few different things, so I can make some samples. First, I require a wild boar, but I need you to kill it with an arrow, or a bolt. No bullets.
Roe to Go | Wonderful work! I can see why Alejandra is so excited to have you working here. This traditional technique of killing animals is said to improve the texture of the meat. This is an experiment of sorts. The next thing I need is a roe deer, killed with the same method. No bullets.
A Wounded Hart | A wonderful example of a roe deer, ready for the pot! Given that you’re so prolific with the traditional methods, why don’t we try one last hunt without a gun? Bring me in a red deer, but I want this one with the minimum amount of trauma to the deer. A single shot to the heart ought to do it, no?
Meat by Moonlight | Next time you’re in town, I’m going to make you pan-roasted venison. It’s already proving very popular, and I actually need four more deer. My father’s recipe book for venison mentions that they should be hunted at night, but I don’t know why. Still, I won’t argue with his technique.
Peerless Pork = Champion Chorizo | I feel like the venison will become my signature dish while I’m here. I can’t rest on my laurels, though. While I was away from home, I began working on my recipe for the perfect chorizo. If you can find me the best quality of wild boar meat, I think I can make something special.
Diversity Breeds Innovation | The pan-roasted venison is undoubtedly the most popular thing on the menu, but I want to experiment a little more. I have a recipe for a chilindron that I’d love you help with. I need some quality venison to make this work, though. I’m sure you won’t disappoint.
The Perfect Liebre | Word is getting around about the quality of the food that we’re serving. A prestigious food critic is driving all the way from Madrid to sample what we have. I have a special request. My grandmother used to make a dish with hare, that is truly unique. I need the best hare you have ever hunted.
◉
Sole Santiago Serrano
Не будьте свиньями | Hola. Alejandro tells me that you have offered to help out with some problems that we are facing out here on the reserve? The first thing I’d like your help with, is dealing with the wild boars in our potato fields. I cannot afford to lose a quarter of my field to these animals.
---|---|
Packed Off | That’s a good start, but I’d wager that more will come back before too long. Thank you for your help. We are also experiencing a lot of problems with our wolves, but I’d like to use your experience as a hunter to work out where they’re likely to congregate, so we can get an idea of their numbers.
Things Are Getting Harey | One of my friends had mentioned that the riverbank was starting to crumble in places. I think it’s because the hares have been setting up their warrens too close to the water. While it may be a case of trying to swim upstream, I’d appreciate it if you could thin out their numbers a little.
Found Further Afield | There are so many challenges to being a goatherd out here in Cuatro Colinas. You have to accept that with so many dangers around, there’s a real risk of losing goats to other wildlife. My neighbour told me that he’s recently lost a goat, but with no sign of where she went. Maybe you can track her down?
Pre-emptive Strike | The last time we had problems with the reserve’s animal stock, it wasn’t the boars. We had an abundance of roe deer that were doing real damage to the farms in the area. I think we need a cull of the roe deer, or I predict them becoming a real threat to our livelihoods.
Butt out, Buddy | Several people have spotted male mouflon, harassing the sheep-herds that we keep out here. The predators are bad enough, but none of us have the time to deal with territorial sheep. I think that if you hunt a few of the males that are causing the problems, that will make things easier for us.
Thinning the Pack | We were able to conduct a census of would population based on you recommendations. It won’t surprise you that we’ve found the wolf numbers to be a concern, and Alejandra agreed that they ought to be reduced. Let’s start with five and seem what happens.
Can’t Show Up Empty-Handed | I admit I was sceptical of the help that we would receive from you, but you have proven me wrong. Some of my fellow farmers have asked me to invite you to celebrate the harvest festival. If you bring dinner, you’ll be extremely popular! I’ll leave your invite at Victor’s Overlook.
Lake Woe; Be Gone | Now that this business with Vista Espana is finished, we are looking at ways to remove the taint that they’ve left. Would you mind helping us one last time by taking some equipment out to the contaminated lake? We could do with monitoring the health of the animals nearby, as well.
◉
Don Miguel Alejandro del Bosque Escajeda
In Memoriam | Greetings, this is Miguel; Alejandra’s father. You have already done a lot for my family, but I need your help with something else. Would you send me a well-lit picture of my dear wife memorial?
---|---|---|---|
A hunter’s Reward | We chose that spot for her memorial, as it was where we would stand to watch the sun rise. I want you to take part in an old Del Bosque tradition. The next time you harvest a red deer bring it to the Castillo, we will celebrate in your honor!
A Crowning Achievement | I look forward to dining with you. In the meantime, I have another challenge for you. If we’re going to get Cuatro Colinas back on its feet, we need to showcase its unique spoils. Take a picture of a majestic male ibex, atop the peak of our reserve.
Spicing It Up | We have scheduled the mayor to visit, so we can discuss the dealings he had with Vista Espana. It is important to remind him that our reserve has not only the best game, but the best hunter, too. Bag me three top quality hares… by moonlight.
Absolution |
The “Marksman” Challenge | You might not be a Del Bosque but you certainly shoot like one. I have little doubt that you’d be capable of setting the reserve record, and I’m inclined to give you the opportunity. When I was thirty, I took down an ibex with a single shot, from four-hundred meters away. Can you go better?
The “Stalker” Challenge | A record that I’ve held for over thirty years, and suddenly it’s gone in a bang. Well, if I could hit a target from far away, my beloved’s true skill was in getting extremely close without startling the creature, before taking the shot with a bow. I could never manage it. Can you?
The “True” Grand Slab | I wonder; do you think you have what it takes to complete the “true” gran slam? Four different types of ibex, all of them prime examples of their species? I’ve managed it, as has my grandfather, but most of those who tried, failed.
The Jewel in the Crown | We put your pictures up on our website, word of mouth is spreading that new records are being set out here. Our booking office phone has been ringing all day! To celebrate, I want you to take some time and really find something to challenge yourself.
Just Like Old Times | I fell like I finally have the strength to get out there. Alejandra has been working so hard, and she deserves some time off. Since you’re the one who is most up to date, I’d like you to prepare the best outpost and find us some good hunting spots.

Havest an albino gray wolf
Advice: Second hardest achievement. It really depends on your luck and attentiveness, my friend did it by accident when he first time entered the reserve. I was looking for an albino wolf for 30-40 hours. The chance of an albino among gray wolves is about 0.1% (the chance of a snow-white wolf that looks identical to an albino is about 1%).
To accomplish it, after ~25 hours of searching, I again decided to resort to manipulating the population files. I backed up the save with a clean population file animal_population_6 at exactly 00:00 (the gray wolf watering time is 00:00 - 03:00), setting up tents in advance in the reserve near each reservoir in their habitat (in the picture below). Further, after loading this save, I raided all the tents, inspecting the wolves that came to the watering hole. After ~10 hours of searching like this, I finally found an albino wolf.
P.S. That's why I wrote about snow white wolves earlier - while you are looking for an albino, you will most likely collect a large collection ...

Kayla Johnson
Show Me Whatchoo Got | Hey there! This is Kayla Johnson, I’m guessing you probably know my name from my online videos or my blog. I hear you’re the new hunter around here. You up for a challenge? Harvest a wolf so I know you’re up to the task. Should be easy for a professional hunter.
---|---|
Bearly Broke A Sweat | Ok, so you can do the basics. I’ve been hunting wolves since I was 13, so I’d expect someone like you to manage that. Why don’t you try harvesting something a little bigger this time? I think a grizzly is a worthy trophy for a pro hunter like you, right?
Exact. Efficient. Effective. | Well done, but you’ve still got a long way to go before you challenge me for the spot of “Apex Predator” out here. Precision and technique are everything. Try taking down a bison as quickly and effectively as possible. Make sure you bring the right tool for the job.
Old Skool | It feels loke you might actually be able to give me a run for my money out here. It’s time to make things interesting. Using a bow, harvest a pair of wolves. I hunt mostly with bows these days. It just feels more fair this way, doesn’t it?
Bears vs Bow | Ok, ok… so you know how to use a bow. That’s good, ‘cos next up, I want you to harvest a pair of grizzles, still using your trusty bow. I know you might be feeling confident, but I was bow-hunting bears when I got these scars. Don’t underestimate the.
Step Up Your Game | Ok, I gotta given it to ya. You’re better than I gave you credit for. This has all been a warm-up, though. Next up, I want you to take down a wolf and a bear. I want quality specimens, too. Silver rating or above… from at least 50m away.
The Apex Predator Challenge | I’ll be honest, I didn’t think you were gonna finish that last challenge. Have you been watching my videos for tips? Next up, I want you to harvest a wolf, a bear and a bison. All of them at a silver rating… at night… and clean, quick kill too. I call this the “Apex Predator Challenge”.
Becoming The Alpha | I’m the only person I know who’s ever completed the “Apex Predator Challenge”. It’s what made me famous. This year, I’ve set myself the challenge of harvesting a grizzly with a bow, except this time, it needs a gold rating… with a single shot to the heart. Even I haven’t managed it yet.
Bev Parker
Attack Is The Best Defense | Hello hunter, my name is Beverly Parker. The Warden has given me this number. I am planning on moving my reindeer herd into Yukon Valley, and Jim said you could help me. I would like to thin out some of the wolves around teekon forest. Would you harvest 3 of them?
---|---|
Caribou Conditions | I normally scout an area before I settle my herd. I’d like to know that caribou are healthy within the reserve. I hear that caribou numbers are down, and I don’t want anything to happen to my herd. Spot 5 caribou for me, and I’ll decide if I want to bring my herd in.
A Distinctive Look | If Jim says it’s safe for me to bring my herd in, then I suppose he’s right. I have had some new additions, this past year, and they are a different color to my reindeer. Can you photograph a pair of caribou in your reserve? I want to compare their pelts to the ones I’ve found in my herd.
He’s A Growing Boy | Jim tells me that you are taking care of the moose by lowering wolf and bear numbers in the area. I am worried that only the largest, strongest moose are going to survive with all these predators around. Can you find an example or a smaller, less impressive male moose in the region.
Due Dilligence | It’s good to know that moose numbers are stable, but you may have a bigger problem. During a hunt this morning, I spotted that some of your caribou appear to be sick. I’d recommend that the next five you harvest are sent away for testing. I can’t risk my herd being infected.
Yukon Valley’s Best View | I apologise if have been curt with you, but life as a herder it difficult and helpful officials like Jim are rare. I want to thank you properly for your help. Head to these co-ordinates in the south-east corner of the reserve. I promise, you won’t find a better spot for a photograph.
◉
Sandy Murray
A Book By Its Cover | Hi there! This is Sandy Murray; Jim’s wife. He told me about the work you’re doing, and I hope you can help me out with a few other things. I am working to update our website, and I need a photograph from my favorite spot in the reserve. Could you take the shot and send it to me?
---|---|
A Study In Crimson | Jim and I used to visit Pioneer Vista all the time, but he’s just so busy nowadays. I really like this picture. Jim would have told you that I also oversee all research here. One of our teams has asked us to confirm the presence of caribou and bison within the crimson plains. Can you spot one of each and report back to me?
From The Ashes | Another research team has asked for soil samples from the burnt section of forest, so they can predict which trees will grow best there. They’ve also asked for pictures of the saplings that were planted out there, as a baseline for growth measurements.
Track Record | Nicely done. If you weren’t here. I’d have had to send Jim in to do this! The next job I have for you is for my work at the visitor’s center. I am putting together a walking tour and would like some good spots to see evidence of animal activity. I need you to find a tracks from the following: moose, caribou, bison, grizzly, wolf & fox.
Old Story, New Problems | Thanks for relaying those sites. I look forward to visiting them! Have you seen the dredge yet? The hulking monstrosity in the corner of the reserve? One of our research teams wants to study its effect on nearby wildlife. Can you take some water samples from the area beside the dredge?
Mucking In | If I’m being honest, I’d be delighted if we found a reason to have the dredge removed. It’s such an eyesore. Now that we have some water samples, it would be great if you could grab some duck and grizzly droppings, too. You can widen your search for them.
Keep It Clean | Exemplary work. It’s your actions that prevented an outbreak, and I’m grateful. Do you recall the samples that you recovered from the wetlands for Jim? Tests have concluded there may be side-effects on the insects. I’d like to install a remote monitoring station, so we can keep an eye on it.
Hank Pepper
Note: Combined similar goals in the last task.
The Perfect Shot | My name is Hank Pepper. I run a business, guiding hunters through their hunts in Alaska. Jim told me that you were the new hunter in the reserve and I wanted to see what kind of hunter you are. You reckon you can harvest a caribou, pass the harvest check and do it quickly?
---|---|
Demand For Ducks | Ok. Color me impressed. Jim always had a good eye for a hunter. Let’s change it up. I’ve got a group who want to hunt ducks. Do you think you could find a good spot for them to visit? Think you can take a harlequin duck with a silver rating while you’re there?
Band Of Bison | When the season starts next year, I have a bunch of clients who want to hunt bison. I want to be able to reassure them that it won’t be a problem. Can you spot a bison cow and bull? That way, I can more easily put their minds at ease. Don’t forget, business is good for the reserve.
A Pair Of Perfect Pelts | The clients will be glad to hear that there are plenty of bison, waiting for them. Taking down a bison can be a pretty tough. How d’ya fancy taking a crack at harvesting a bull and a cow and passed harvest check? With a quick death for both of them too, of course.
A Rare Sight | I gotta give it to ya, you know what you’re doing when it comes to Bison. Personally, I’m a big fan of the ol’ Alaska moose. You think you can get up close to one? How about spotting one from 30m away? If you manage that, I’d loke you to try harvesting one with a silver standard, at least.
Yukon Gold Rush | Ok. I was dubious at first, but you seem like the real deal. Why don’t you try the Yukon Valley challenge? That means harvesting one of every species in the reserve, and that’s with a gold standard. You’ll join an esteemed club. Jim only joined a few years ago.
◉
Oscar Freeman
A Fine Specimen | Hi. I’m Oscar, I got your number from Jim. He told me that you were working in Yukon Valley and would be on hand to help with some scientific prep-work. We are looking to replenish our catalogue of tracked caribou. Can you find us a spot where they congregate?
---|---|
Managing Moose | Fantastic. That location will hopefully give us a steady supply of caribou that we can tag. Now, on to the moose. We are looking into distribution of moose in the region. Can you spot 5 specimens and report their locations back to us? It’s much appreciated.
Moose Misfortune | Based on your finding, we estimate that we have a moose surplus in the region. This will eventually lead to a growth in predators, which could have a serious effect on our already depleted caribou population. Harvest 3 female moose, that should help to keep our population under control.
Hardware Upgrade | I know it sounds strange that we need to harvest moose to save caribou, but it’s a proven technique. An ecologist wrote a book on it, after spending 10 years working in Afrika, and it inspired me during my college years. Anyway, for now we have an upgrade for our radio tower that requires installation. Can you take care of it?
The Balancing Of Bison | I hurt my back earlier this year, and I’m still not as mobile as I’d like to be. On the other hand, our bison population is very mobile, and their number have grown beyond our predictions. We need to harvest a female bison, just to slow them down, otherwise they’ll exhaust their food here and wander off.
Herd Immunity | That should help with keeping a cap on their numbers. We may need to harvest more in the near future. There have been reports of brucellosis amongst our bison, and we need to make sure it hasn’t reached the caribou. Can you harvest a male caribou in the same region as where you shot your bison?
At A Crossroads | Do you remember I mentioned an ecologist who worked in Africa during the 70s? I’ve been contracted by his team about a job opening. It’s such an exciting prospect. I know it’s a strange request, but could you take a picture from my favorite spot, out at copperbowl lake? It’ll help me decide what to do.
Predator Becomes The Prey | This level of attrition is unsustainable. Now that we have you on-site, I think it’s time to do something about it. We need a cull before we lose even more caribou. Harvest 5 wolves and 3 grizzles. That should help our caribou population stabilize.

Advice: The achievement is a little buggy and most likely to get it you need to photograph not the tracks themselves, but a stone mound with a description of the attraction (coordinates: -1356,484 -10520,595). I got an achievement for this photo:
162. Gobble gobble
Harvest 50 turkeys
163. Thanksgiving!
Harvest a diamond turkey
Advice: The easiest way I've found to get Diamond level turkeys is to set up model lures near watering point and use turkey decoy at the same time. Model baits reinforce each other up to 5 pieces when installed in one place, they act at 500 meters. Merriam's turkey goes to watering places from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The most convenient for me seemed to be a reservoir near the 'Uncompahgre outpost' (coordinates -6075.096 -10003.695), by setting the baits of the model as shown in the image below, you can lure a large number of turkeys. Red marks the habitat of turkeys, and the blue circle indicates the approximate radius in which the model lure will operate.
