Welcome, everyone. We gather today to discuss any questions or problems you might have while trying to play the Grim Fandango. I spent over 50 hours on this game to earn all of the achievements and the overall enjoyment and fun this title gave me. I would have been able to complete each chapter much faster if I had known what I know right now. You can resolve any issue, bug, or achievement-related problem much faster if you read all of the below.

I will only briefly describe a few of the problems and offer an answer to some others. Depending on how you interact with this guide and the specific responses in the comment section, I might expand the content here as much or as little as I can. I want to share everything I learned during the game.

Let’s get started.

Before you start the games: PLEASE SET-UP TANK CONTROLS

It’s as simple as that. You will have to go through the whole game (, just like me) to achieve “The Right Way”. No matter where you are in the game, it doesn’t matter which stage you’re at. You will miss the rarest achievement if you do not change your setting before you start.

Go to the settings menu. As you can see, the option “movement mod” has a camera-relative one as a starter. It can be changed to tank-controls. Save it and start a fresh game. After the cut-scene where you used the flower bullets on water, your achievement should be unlocked automatically.

Let’s suppose you start the game as normal and do not make any changes to your settings.

Trust me. If in the middle, you decide to change the movement mode, you will not be able to win that trophy. You should think twice before you waste your time or effort. Double-save certain chapters even after any changes. This will be useful on many stages related to each game mission.

Robert Frost Achievement for Pigeons & Robert Frost

Many of you may think, “This doesn’t look anything like Robert Frost.” It was not an easy feat. It is possible to either assume incorrectly or misunderstand a few tips and tricks related to the pigeons. Here’s how to solve it. First, once you are done with the interior building exploration, please head outside through the main doors and elevator to the funfair/festival.

Once you are free from the building, move towards the festival direction. The two tents on the right-hand side must be stopped. You can see them in the picture. You will find bread in one tent, and a balloon-maker in the other. This is how you can lead the conversation. He will give you two empty balloons, and then make you a Robert Frost-shaped balloon. Once you have them, walk back.

Let’s suppose that you have spoken with Domino and reached the second stage of the game. If you did not know this, you must go to the left of the festival and climb up to the top on the rope. As you can see, Manny is standing on the right side. This is where Manny should remain. Now it is time to take your balloon out of the pocket. It should look like Robert Frost and be orange. Click on pigeons and then on interaction circle. Manny should wave to birds and say something. This is the moment achievement should be unlocked.

After that, you can simply put the balloon in the bowl and add bread. This is the time to earn your pigeon achievement. If you don’t want to interact via Robert Frost balloons and pigeons, please don’t make food or bowls.

How to finish chapter tube switcher by… Marking card

Eva (is the achievement that leads to having all possible conversations at the game starting). You need to be careful when it come to carefully watching her desk. You can see the hole puncher on the desk before you go into any of these elevators if your eyes are open. The main part to passing the finish tube quest is punching the hole on a poker card, and inserting the card into the message tube machine (downstairs in tube switcher area).

The card deck is located in your office, on the desk containing books. You can then punch the hole in any card, no matter how many conversations you had with Eva. You can see the exact location of the hole-puncher on the screen. This tip can help you save time and ensure you don’t get too close to Eva desk (from the elevators).

Year two: What else do you need to know?

During the second-year start, you discovered that you now have to be a successful casino boss. This chapter will show you how to get a photo of a lawyer to take embarrassing photographs of your business.

Anchors dilemma… Chain bug! & “Stop showing your pride for the girl!” Achievement

You are absolutely correct. Anchors could be a problem for someone trying to escape the gun-armed skeleton boys. Manny will spot bodies covered in flowers (, aka super-dead). Glottis then will drag you into the control room. Under the round windows, you can see two red buttons and one black handle.

This is how to attach both anchors. The long chain will be attached to each anchor. First, pull up both. Then, move the entire ship towards the left using the black handles. As you can see in the ship turbines preview, the ship is on its left side. Please drop the right Anchor completely. Move the ship to your right. After that, drop the anchor on the left and pull it up. If you’ve followed this sequence, you should be able to see anchors as they appear on a screen. You can drag them into windows more easily by using your scythe.

You will then activate the right anchor by pressing red. Once the ship has been damaged, push down the black handles. That is how you’ll unlock the cut scene & get away from the chasing guys – in the water.

If you see the screen above and you feel angry, you are probably feeling it. Once you have reached the underwater facility and tried to save the “ladyof your heart”, you will be able either to the left (or the right) to exchange). It is best to start at the left.

I had to re-start the game on five occasions before I found a way to get around the bug between machine stage vs Glottis Meeting and chain climbing. Click once with the mouse on chain, then press the keyboard letter A. This is the only way to move up. Manny will not return to the lever section if you use the mouse or arrow again. Once you are done, save the game. Pull the lever up or down.

That is the cut scene. Once you’ve saved, pull up and drag the lever down until you see short animations with chain making a tie. Go back to the survace. Once you are done, enter the crane and use the chain mechanism to pull the ship up. This is how to drag Glottis and ship out of water. SAVE GAME AGAIN quickly and get under water back into the facility to save Meche.

Once you have completed all quests leading you to cut scene in Domino’s presence, you will find yourself in the above scenario. This is where “Stop showing off for her girl!” can be easily obtained. However, patience is key to achieving this feat.

Your scythe can be used to attack Domino. Keep attacking Domino and pulling back. It will take approximately 1-2 minutes but you won’t stop until you reach the achievement. Once you have the achievement, hit the Octopus Eye to unlock another cut scene. You will not be able to get the achievement if Domino isn’t fighting you or you fight only once. Please be patient.
