A short guide on how to deploy essentially anywhere on the map.
 
 

The Guide

Hey I’ll keep this brief. I don’t recommend using this glitch/exploit but as I wasn’t able to find any posts about it, I felt obligated to document it. I don’t know if this exploit is known to the community/devs. I discovered it inadvertently.
 
 
I now present the Save-Load glitch!
 
This exploit is done during the deployment phase. What you do is put your general on the edge of the deployment circle, directly on the line. Now save and load that save, and you will notice that when the game loads, your deployment zone will be shifted in the direction of the general. Now you can move your army farther, then move your general and repeat as desired. Just save and reload again. You can overwrite your save or create a new one. If you keep going you can move right up to the enemy line.

Post/Thoughts

This exploit allows you to deploy anywhere on the map, but what benefits does that provide?
 
 
Save-Load allows you to out-position your enemies. You can flank or encircle enemies with your infantry, position your cavalry to catch routing units, and place artillery on favorable elevation and terrain.
 
 
However, if you don’t feel like completely shattering your immersion, you could simply use Save-Load to reconnoiter the enemy’s location before battle, then reloading a save taken at the beginning, therefore not using the direct benefits of the exploit, but still gaining some knowledge that could help.
 
 
However I think this glitch could be used for good. I imagine a creative person could utilize this to make a cinematic video, placing units where desired to tailor a battle to your wishes. Or you could use this trick during a siege a*sault and create an epic trench battle by building fortifications right in front the enemy’s entrenchments.
