This is a guide to help those confused with the game’s systems and menus gain a better understanding of the game.
Getting started
upon pressing play, you will be greeted by the starter card menu. Here you are able to choose the loadout you enter the game with, which can range from simply starting with different equipment and weapons to having numerous different gameplay modifiers added to your run. After choosing a starter card, you will be able toggle the tutorial on future playthroughs if need be, confirm, or go back.
After entering the game, you will be placed into the hub world. From here, walking through the doorway in front of where you spawn will let you begin the game.
Shrine of the Summit
The shrine of the summit is an interactable object at the beginning of each level. Activating it Will allow you the chance to gain a perk at the expense of making the level more difficult. The perk is awarded after the level is completed, at the beginning of the next level. Be warned, though; Activating the shrine will disable the sprint chest.
Door obelisk & Door event
The main goal at the end of each level is to reach & activate the door obelisk. After activation, the door event begins, in which waves of enemies will come at you until a certain amount of them are killed, signified by a percentage meter at the top of the screen. Once the event is finished, the door will spawn, and going through it will allow you to enter the next level.
Equipment, Weapons & Ammo
Equipment and weapons are both able to be obtained by a number of means. Equipment and weapons can both be bought from crates around the map using money earned by killing enemies.
Weapons can also be bought from the grab a gun machine. Using the grab a gun machine will give you a random weapon, although it can only be used once per level.
Ammo can be found in different containers throughout the map, usually dumpsters and Ammo bins. Interacting with them will cause them to spit out ammo.
Ammo is also obtained by killing enemies.
Upgrade Stations
The upgrade station is an interactable object in the game which once activated will cause an event dependent on the level, usually spawning in a certain type of enemy and unlocking once they are all defeated. To Acquire the upgrade, run into the upgrade rather than interacting with the upgrade station itself.
Build A Bang Engine (BABE)
The Build A Bang Engine (BABE) is a machine in each level which allows you to upgrade any weapon for the price of $12,500. Once upgraded, the weapons become much more powerful alternate versions of themselves, often called BABE weapons. Very important if not necessary in the late game.
Sprint Chest
The sprint chest is a container which, if reached fast enough, will give you a key to let you skip the door event. Mostly for speedrunning.
Cycle Stone, Battle Stone, & Battle arena
The cycle stone is an interactable object which lets you repeat the level after completion if activated.
The battle stone is an interactable object which when activated summons seeker nests which need to be destroyed. After all seeker nests are destroyed, the battle stone is completed. Levels contain 3 battle stones, and if all are completed, the battle portal opens. Upon entering the battle portal, you are granted a power weapon (which as of right now is only the BHG), and need to complete the battle arena before being allowed to leave. The battle arena is much more difficult than most other sections of the game, so using BABE weapons is highly recommended.
Bunkers
Bunkers are a special area within the map containing weapons, ammo, and extra lives, among other things. Bunkers are opened using bunker keys, found in cargo crates hidden in the map. Bunkers are enclosed by red lasers until the bunker key is found, upon which it is opened.
