This quick and easy guide shows you where to find secretSettings.ini for Forager on Steam Deck.
How to access the secretSettings.ini file for Forager Steam Deck
You’re probably here because your search for the same thing that I did failed to yield any results online.
I couldn’t find any information online on this, as I said. I thought it would be Linux directories, but I was wrong. I discovered the exact location, and it’s on the Steam Deck.
This guide will tell you how to access the file. But you will need to find another guide to get more information about all the settings you can play with. There are plenty of guides (, not this one at the time it was made).
What you need to know
First, if your Steam Deck isn’t a little turdlike mine, it won’t connect to your network automatically when you turn it on.
Make it a habit. Go up to the Wi Fi icon and press “A”.
Your network should already exist. To access it, just click here and hit the ‘A.’ button.
It might not connect the first try. If this happens, you can just keep pressing A’ on Connect.
It will eventually connect. The Wi-Fi icon may have a yellow exclamation sign on it. This indicates that the Steam Deck hasn’t connected to Steam’s servers yet. Please give it some time. Steam may be experiencing server issues if it takes a while.
(is another habit you should develop if your Steam Deck looks anything like mine). It may not allow you to sign into Friends or it will refuse to do so. This part is not required for this guide, but it takes hardly any time. This was the hardest part of the guide. I’m embarra*sed to admit it.
Go to your profile in the top right corner and press A’.
Press ‘A’ at the Signed Out area.
Next, select Online and press “A”.
This section is done. Go back to the main menu.
Friends should be signed in a bit sooner, I have found that my Steam Deck (can remain signed out for a while. But once I do this, my friend list will soon be back. Why doesn’t it work the way it should?
Let’s get to the file we’re looking for.
The ‘STEAM’ button is pressed. Select the Power option, then press ‘A.
Next, click the Switch to desktop option and hit ‘A’.
Wow! This thing can play my Steam games, and it’s an actual PC. Awesome, right? Hell yes. (While most people know this already, it’s still a great idea for anyone just starting to learn.)
To move the mouse, use your Right Trackpad. Click the Right Trackpad on the mouse to Left Click it, and click the Left Trackpad on the mouse to Right Click it.
Now, go to the taskbar. Select the blue icon that looks almost like a folder. It’s the Dolphin one.
This is the moment that you’ve been waiting. You can navigate to this directory by using this window.
/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/751780/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Forager/
Deck is the default username. If you want to change it, simply change deck to your new username.
Now that you have finally found that file you’ve been looking for, it is time to open it.
You can now edit the file as you like. Personally, I prefer to have my file set this way so I can actually see what game I’m trying.
For those who don’t know, you can open your keyboard by pressing the X button and holding the STEAM button.
Now, click the icon in the top left corner of your desktop that reads Return to Gaming Mode.
Now, open the game.
GET 1000+ DIROIDS, BECOME A GOD, AND DESTROY WORLD!
Have fun!
