Euro Truck Simulator 2 Step-by-Step Guide to Multiplayer

Basic Setup

 
First, you need to set up your game proper, before you can get TruckersMP. 

1. install Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Steam (if you haven’t already) 
2. downgrade if necessary (see: truckersmp.com – https://truckersmp.com/knowledge-base/article/26) 
   1. right click Euro Truck Simulator 2 in Steam 
   2. click Properties… 
   3. go to BETAS 
   4. select the version (e.g.: temporary_1_39 – 1.39.x for incompatible mods) 
3. create new profile (a clean profile is recommended for multiplayer) 
   1. launch game 
   2. Manage Profiles 
   3. New Profile 
   4. uncheck Use Steam Cloud (optional) Save Editing 
   5. recommended options 
      • Keyboard 
      • Simple Automatic 
      • Headquarter Selection: 
        (select a central location, but avoid these cities and the surrounding areas if you don’t like heavy traffic)
        • Calais – France 
        • Dover – United Kingdom 
        • Le Havre – France 
        • Southampton – United Kingdom 
4. complete the tutorial (optional) 
5. exit the game when you are done (this creates a new autosave)

Get TruckersMP

 
To get TruckersMP, you will need to create an truckersmp.com – https://truckersmp.com/ 
Before registering, look through this checklist: 

• you must have a copy of Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Steam 
• make sure, that your steam profile is public (this is necessary to verify your game and DLC) 
  • go to Steam > Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy Settings > 
  • My profile: Public 
  • Game details: Public 
  • uncheck Always keep my total playtime private even if users can see my game details.
• you must have played more than 2 hours of the game 
• you should have a reliable and strong internet connection

Download and Install TruckersMP

1. Follow the truckersmp.com – https://truckersmp.com/knowledge-base/article/18 
2. Download and unzip the TruckersMP Launcher 
3. Run the installation

Playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 in Multiplayer

1. launch Steam 
2. start the TruckersMP Launcher 
3. install updates if necessary 
4. Launch ETS2 
5. log in and select a server 
6. use your multiplayer profile when playing TruckersMP to avoid conflicts 
   see how to set up a profile in Basic Setup
7. follow the rules, and have fun!

Save Editing (optional)

 
Increase money, unlock skills and truck parts 

1. download and extract drive.google.com – https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ApgN232CWVSREnTQ_RCIs7gPLYq2_U1m/view to a new folder 
   • keep this open for later
2. go to the game folder in Documents 
   %userprofile%\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\
3. create decrypt.bat (this will convert the saves in this folder to plain text) 
   1. create decrypt.txt in the same folder where SII_Decrypt (any format).exe is 
   2. open with text editor 
   3. insert the below code 
      echo off “SII_Decrypt (any format).exe” game.sii game.sii “SII_Decrypt (any format).exe” info.sii info.sii “SII_Decrypt (any format).exe” profile.sii profile.sii exit
   4. save, and close the editor 
   5. rename decrypt.txt to decrypt.bat
4. go to your saves: 
   %userprofile%\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\[YOUR_PROFILE]\save\autosave
   • The profile name will be replaced with random letters and numbers. Find the relevant profile by Date Modified.
5. copy game.sii from the save folder to the save editor folder 
6. run decrypt.bat 
7. open game.sii with text editor 
8. find the first line containing experience_points and change it’s value (see the note below) 
   • Level 16 (unlock every job) 
     experience_points: 27699
   • Level 30 (unlock all parts) 
     experience_points: 103699
   • Level 36 (unlock all skills) 
     experience_points: 140499
9. find and change the value of money_account (recommended: 1000000) 
10. save, and close the editor 
11. copy game.sii back to your save folder: \profiles\[YOUR_PROFILE]\save\autosave

Note: 
 
To get your skill points, you have to gain at least one level in game. The easiest way to do this, is by completing a Quick Job (assuming, you used one of the values above). Basically, any job should do but short distance deliveries with light cargo are the quickest. Alternatively, you can Free Roam with your own truck to get 50 XP per 100km. 
 
This is necessary, because the game doesn’t give you skills until your first level-up. 
The recommended experience_points above, are based on the fact, that you will gain experience when finishing your first delivery. 
If you are already above Level 1, just round up the recommended XP values: 

Level 16	experience_points: 27700
Level 30	experience_points: 103700
Level 36	experience_points: 140500

 
After this, you can allocate your skills and buy some stuff. 

• To unlock every job at Level 16, use your skill points like this: 
  • ADR: 6 
  • Long Distance: 6 
  • High Value Cargo: 1 
  • Fragile Cargo: 1 
  • Just-in-Time Delivery: 2 
  • Eco-Driving: 0
• The €1,000,000 should be more than enough to buy a fully upgraded truck and a trailer, upgrade your garage or get another one, and have some money left over for cosmetics and repairs.

If you want to edit your save file later, just repeat these steps: 

1. copy the correct game.sii from %userprofile%\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\profiles\… to the save editor folder 
2. run decrypt.bat 
3. open game.sii with a text editor 
   • experience: first line containing: experience_points 
   • money: money_account
4. save, and close the editor 
5. copy the file back to the original folder

Settings and Keybinds

 
Recommended gameplay setting for multiplayer (change these from the default) 

• Fatigue simulation: OFF 
  • Time on the server runs differently from the normal game and as a result, the fatigue simulation will be unreliable.
• Traffic offence: OFF 
  • You can ignore some traffic laws when there are no other drivers around; however, moderators will take action against Reckless Driving. 
  • Drive safe!
• Random road events: 0 
  • controlled by the server
• Detours: 0 
  • controlled by the server
• Truck speed limiter: OFF 
  • controlled by the server

TruckersMP Keyboard Shortcuts

• [Y] – Used to open the chat menu, use [ENTER] to send your message. 
• [X] – Used to activate the CB Radio (voice chat), release to stop talking. 
• [TAB] – Used to show the nearby players, report, settings and previous players. 
  click the right mouse button to enable/disable mouse cursor
• [,] – Used to change to a lower CB channel. 
• [.] – Used to change to a higher CB channel. 
• [F9] – Used to disable chat. 
• [F11] – Used to disable nametags and the [TAB] menu.

Troubleshooting

 
If you don’t see any jobs in-game, you may have to reset the economy.

1. enable the developer console (see: Developer Console) 
2. in game, press the tilde (~) key to open the console 
3. type in this command, and press Enter 
   g_force_economy_reset 1
4. close the console with the tilde (~) key 
5. save, and restart the game 
6. open the console and reset the command 
   g_force_economy_reset 0
7. close the console, and look for jobs again

Developer Console (optional)

 
Only do this, if you know what you are doing! 

1. open the game folder in Documents 
   %userprofile%\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\

   or 

   C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\
2. open config.cfg with a text editor (Notepad) 
3. find these variables and the change “0” to “1”: 
   uset g_developer “0” uset g_console “0”
4. save, and close the editor 
5. enable/disable the console with the tilde (~) key in-game
