This is a guide for Espresso Tycoon – How to create Custom Latte Art
This guide explains how to prepare and use your own png image to create latte art that is custom-designed for you.
Preparation
Prepare Latte Art
To begin with if you haven’t already done so, you need to prepare one “Custom Latte Art” and save the game. You can use any pattern or leave it completely empty. We just want to make sure the game creates the correct directory.
Navigate to the correct directory
You can do this by copying this path in the explorer or by using the run window (shortcut Win+R).
%appdata%\..\LocalLow\DreamWay Games\Espresso Tycoon\GameState
You can utilize the modification date or by counting the slot in which you saved the game, starting at the top of your save menu where Save_0 is an autosave. You can either use the modification date or counting the slot in which you saved the game counting from the top in the save menu where Save_0 is the autosave.
Inside, you will find the folder “CustomLatteArts” this is the one we are most concerned about.
Simple Method
- Simply copy the image into the game folder.
- Save the saved
Ideally the image should be square of 512×512 pixels since the game is played with this size, and could increase or decrease the size of the image.
Here is the final outcome.
As you can see it is not looking very good. We’ll try to improve it in the next step.
Better Method
Requirements
- GIMP
- Or any other image editing software you are familiar with
Grayscale
After loading the image, the first thing to do is convert it to grayscale.
Select the Toolbar in the toolbar. Colors -> Desaturate -> Desaturate…
Select “Luma” and confirm by pressing the OK button.
Adjusting Colors
Next we need to adjust the colors. We must adjust the color values because the game treats everything that is less than 70% brightness as a single color.
In the toolbar, choose Colors -> Curves…
Click LPM to add a point on the curve. Then enter the values:
- Input: 30
- Output: 170
- Type of Corner
Confirm by clicking the OK button
(All these values were tested by trial and error, and I selected them because they are fairly universal. For brighter images you can try a higher input which should give a little better clarity. I encourage you to experiment.)
Final Touches
I would like to boost the brightness and contrast a little bit as a last step.
In the toolbar, choose Colors -> Brightness-Contrast…
Set both Brightness and Contrast to 20 and confirm using the OK button.
End-of-Day Results
Then export it as a PNG, put it in the save folder and look at the final product.
