Explanation:

 
Based on the creative guide of 10kN per metric ton (t) and 10MN per kiloton (kt) the spreadsheet above was created. Then there are some gravity 1.0G – 5.0G shown for individual thruster lift and also how many combat steel blocks (in SU) that thruster can support. Bear in mind one actual block of combat steel equals 80 SU. 
 
Also below I have created a spreadsheet calculator to make calculations more fun and easy!

The above calculator shows an example using 8k SU volume and a SV shield CPU of 16,300. The nice thing is based on your volume, it automatically counts how much CPU will be taken up by the cargo containers and thrusters. Bear in mind that the # of Thrusters needed is if you plan to only use that size of thruster… thus those numbers can be reduced when using multiple sizes of thrusters!
