SGSSAA to be compatible with Dynasty Warriors 7 – so you don’t have to resort FXAA
Preamble
After playing it for a while I decided to return to it.
Dynasty Warriors 7 PC has always been a bother to me, compared to Dynasty Warriors 8: there seemed to be no good AA solution outside of FXAA in a control panel or injecting external SMAA/FXAA.
FXAA or SMAA by post-processing does not solve the shimmering problem caused by aliasing, and messes up with UI elements.
So I spent a full day testing different values for the compatibility bit section.
After some time, I finally found a setting which seems to work.
Nvidia Inspector
1 – Compatibility
Antialiasing Compatibility: 0x00401045
3 – Antialiasing
Antialiasing – Mode: You can override any app settings
Antialiasing – Setting: 2x [2x Multisampling]
Antialiasing – Transparency Multisampling: Enabled
Antialiasing – Transparency Supersampling: 2x Supersampling – Sparse Grid
You can go 4x-8x times, but I find 2x sufficient for my purposes.
Make sure that you have Setting and Transparency supersampling at the same time.
(4x SGSSAA Mulit for 4x, 8x Multi For 8x SGSSAA)
Additional Settings
4 – Texture Filtering
Anisotropic Filtering Mode: User Defined / Off
Anisotropic Filtering Setting: 16x
Texture Filtering – Negative LOD Bias: Clamp
Texture Filtering- Quality: High Quality
FXAA can be turned on in section previous if you want to add some blurring.
Despite my recommendation, it is not recommended due to the UI issues.
