This is a complete guide to everything that can generate XP at Dungeon of Edera.
This guide aims at providing more transparency about the different difficulties and how they impact XP gain, as well as which mobs can be killed that are most valuable.
What actions can generate XP
These actions will generate XP
- Mob bosses and bosses being killed
- Finishing missions
- Successfully harvesting plants
Killing bosses or mobs of them:
- It doesn't matter whether you or your companion kill a mob; you get the same amount experience
- Experience is gained only when you or one of your friends do the final punch. E.g. Exploding goblins that kill other mobs or commit suicide won't give you any XP. It doesn't matter whether you "tagged" an exploding Goblin before he explodes. You must strike the final blow.
Finalizing the mission
- The %XP gain affects the XP rewards from missions
Successfully harvesting plants
- If you have the perk "Bountiful harvest", harvesting two ingredients will not give you more XP.
How does difficulty impact XP gain
To my dissappointment, The final mission reward is not affected by the difficulty. It is not the XP gained from killing mobs / collecting plants that is important.
BUT The %XP gained stat has an impact on the final mission reward. This means that playing hard is more valuable the stronger your characters are and the more you have %XP gains.
With 300% XP Gain, for example, the hard mission reward will result in 2400 XP. The medium mission reward, however, only yields 1200.
Base XP values are required to complete missions
Easy:
- 200 XP
Medium:
- 400 XP
Hard:
- 800 XP
What types of mobs are there?
Before I go into detail about all mobs, and their base XP values, I have to explain the different types that are available in the game.
*Spoiler Alert*
There are not many mobs with different XP gains. Most are just a reskin of different races. They are mostly different in the armor and weapons they use.

Which missions produce the most XP
For short missions (e.g. You should take the hard difficulty for short missions, such as defenses or arena fights. The reward is quite substantial.
For example, arena missions have the same XP gain:
4 Bosses – 250xp + mission reward
Easy: 1000XP + 200XP = 1.200XP
Medium: 1000XP + 400XP = 1.400XP
Hard: 1000XP + 800XP = 1.800XP
The following values are obtained when you combine this with a %XP gain of 300%:
Easy: 3.600 XP
Medium 4.200XP
Hard: 5.400XP
If you have a strong character and are able to easily take down bosses, the 1.200 XP is well worth it. You also get 2 boss chests from arena battles that will give you better loot.
Defensive Sieges are another great mission you should complete whenever possible.
I recommend Medium as the best option for defensive sieges. This is because you get the most XP from mobs during this mission. The 400XP bonus at the end makes little difference.
Aggressive sieges are also great for XP.
BUT This is my final review. The hard work is not enough to be rewarding . It is not worth spending extra XP to risk losing all your equipment if you die. Crafting is the best way to get the best gear, so the iLvL increases on hard difficulty can easily be ignored.
It is not a good idea to play on difficult difficulty when playing new characters. As you can clear more mobs on Medium, they will also generate the same amount in XP.
