This is a guide made to fix the unlockable bonus movies being unviewable.

The TL;DR

So in the game, you gather points when playing, these can be used to purchase bonus content in the game, such as Movies. But in the Steam version, this can’t be done, due the Steam version missing some files, thus making the movies unviewable, meanwhile they are still viewable in the retail disc version.

Downloading the needed files

What you need to do to get them back, is to download the Movies folder and a retail executable from the retail version.

Download the files from the archive drive.google.com – https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ilEY1f7NlBZU3q33ZTQN6oCf157yeGVZ
This includes the Movies folder, as well as a NoDVD exe, as this won’t work with the Steam executable.

Adding them to the game files

Next step is to go to your Cars installation folder, and copy the exe to the root of the installation, replacing the Steam exe, and copy the movies folder inside the Data folder.

You’ve done it

Congratulations, you have now restored the movie files and can now watch them.

To see if it worked, start the game, go to Bonus Content from the main menu, then Videos and either Deleted Scenes, Movie Clips or Extras and purchase one of the clips, or use the cheat code “watchit” if you don’t have any points and just want to unlocked them. But you don’t even need to do that, as you can now watch them from the Movies folder if you want to do that instead.
