Monkey knowledge

 
Monkey knowledge is a resource that can be used to enhance your towers, heroes & powers. It can be obtained in three ways. First, every level after level 30 will reward you with one monkey knowledge. Secondly, some achievements reward you with monkey knowledge. Finally, it can be purchased through the in-game store, but I wouldn’t recommend it because I think it’s overpriced. 
Check out the “XP” section for a breakdown of XP and how to get the most , so you can get your monkey knowledge faster. You will have to pay monkey money as well as monkey knowledge to get some of the better ones. 
 
There are six different trees to spend your MK (monkey knowledge) in. 
Primary – This has two great upgrades, one that gives you $200 extra starting cash, and one that gives you a free dart monkey every game (it gives everyone a dart monkey in co-op, but doesn’t stack. 
 
Military – This tree has two more great ones, one that reduces the first military monkey’s price by 33%, and another which makes all MOAB class bloons spawn in a damaged state. 
 
Magic – Has some cool ninja monkey ones, one that gives you 10% extra monkey money, and another which creates a shield that can absorb 25 lives and it recharges each round if no bloons leak 
 
Support – Marketplaces produce 1 life per round, central markets produce 3, a whole bunch of monkey stat boosts, like attack speed, range and ability cooldown, and there is also one which increases all monkey XP earned by 8% (not player XP) 
 
Heroes – This just has ones that increase hero’s attack speed, pierce, XP gain, attack damage against MOAB class bloons. 
 
Powers – This has a cool one that places a pile of red-hot spikes at the end of the track, and then ones that reduce powers prices, and their effectiveness 
 
 

XP

 
XP is required to unlock monkey knowledge (see “Monkey Knowledge” section for more on MK) and it is rewarded at the end of the round, so if you lose, you will still get your XP 
 
Harder maps reward more XP. 
Beginner – 100% XP 
Intermediate – 110% XP 
Advanced – 120% XP 
Expert – 130% XP 
 
Freeplay reduces XP gained by 70% 
Freeplay begins at: 
Easy – Round 41 
Medium – Round 61 
Hard – Round 81 
Impoppable / CHIMPS – Round 101 
 
XP per round 
Round 1 gives 40XP 
Then each round add 20XP to the previous round’s amount until round 20 
At round 21, each round adds 40XP to the previous round’s amount until round 50 
At round 51, each round adds 90XP to the previous round’s amount until round 100 
Round 100 gives 6120XP 
So on beginner (no XP bonuses): 
Round 1: 40 XP 
Round 2: 60 XP 
Round 3: 80 XP 
Round 4: 100 XP 
Round 5: 120 XP 
And so on, until 
Round 21: 460 XP

So that means that the best way to gain XP is to beat impoppable mode on expert maps lots of times. You’ll also get a bunch of monkey money while doing that.

Hidden Achievements

 
Hidden achievements: 
Josh’s Constant: B-B-Beat any expert map on CHIMPS with $40,870 or more spent on one spike factory. 
As for the map, I did it on Dark Castle, and put an 0-2-5 spike factory on the top of the castle. This also stops the DDTs that get close to the end. It HAS to be on CHIMPS and an expert map.

The cave monkey is a secret monkey, only obtainable on the map “Frozen Over”. It pops one layer, can hit 5 bloons at once, and stuns bloons for one second when hit (0.25s for M.O.A.B. class bloons). It attacks once every 2 seconds, and has a very small range. It has no upgrades and sells for 0 money. If sold there is no way to get it back without restarting the map. It is unlocked for that game by making a mortar monkey shoot the monkey under the ice 30+ times.
