This guide will outline how to report a cheating / abusive player directly to EA. Often there are no options to votekick or report a player in-game. Only takes about 5 minutes!

If you have played any of the Battlefield games you have more than likely encountered a cheater / hacker. It might be someone with an aim hack, or invisible / floating gun, or a wall hack. Many of the official DICE servers do not feature a votekick system nor a way to report in-game.

All players cheating or acting abusively should be reported to EA. There’s a lot of talk that EA doesn’t do anything about them but in my most recent experience EA responded and said it was investigating and taking all reports seriously. In order to hold users accountable and foster a positive community in the Battlefield games we should report as much as we can. It only takes about 5 minutes!

The First Steps – Dealing with a Hacker in a Server

Hacking sucks. It ruins the game for many players. It’s hard not to feel angry when a cheater is encountered.

Take a moment to breathe. Don’t flood the in-game chat with curses or hate. This is what hackers want – they want to see everyone get riled up. Acting out only feeds their behavior. Be the bigger player and don’t give in to the vitriol.

Does the server have an admin? Reach out to them for help.

Now, collect as much information as you can –

First – Grab the player name. It might be hard to figure out who it is at first. Make a note when you are, for sure, killed by that player. In most cases, it’s the player with an unusually high K/D ratio. Still in doubt? Ask the chatroom.

Take some pictures – of the scoreboard, kill camera, or game play shots. Use spectate if you can’t get some pictures without getting under fire. Get as many pictures as you need to illustrate how they are playing unfair.

Press TAB to see the scoreboard. Note the time. Record the exact day and time you see this. Also, write the server name down accurately.

Then ALT-TAB out of the game for the next step.

Making Your Report to EA

Now that you gathered all the information, you can make a report to EA.

Go to: https://help.ea.com/en/

At the top menu bar – Click “Contact Us”

From here you can search for Battlefield 1/4/V/Hardline. Select the game and then select the platform you are playing on (assuming PC).

It will then ask you to select topic. Click “Report Concerns or Harassment”

Then click “Report Player”

Then hit the blue “Select Contact Option” button when it prompts you.

EA will ask for you First / Last Name and email to contact you. It will recommend Email and then give you the form to fill out.

Fill this form out accurately with all the information you collected earlier. You can upload all the screenshots you grabbed during gameplay. Avoid messages like “OMG EA plz fix th1s !!!11!”
Remember that you are a courteous, respectful gamer and someone will be reading this on the other end. Use correct grammar and be thorough. Think about what kind of information EA would need to investigate this issue further.

When you are all done click “Email Us.”

What Happens Next?

Now that you have filed your report (doesn’t take long at all!) Surely swift and sweet justice is on it’s way, right? RIGHT?

Now, hold on.

For those of you expecting instant gratification seeing the despised player immediately banned from all servers. It doesn’t work that way. EA will now use the information you submitted to start their own investigation. It takes time.

The best thing to do is go back to your game, tell others to file their report too, and find another server to play on.

BTUH, BUHH .. THAT MEANS TEH CHEATER WINS!!

No, it doesn’t. The only way cheaters win is if you let them get under your skin. You’ve done your part – You made a report and are actively supporting a positive community in game. Go you!

You may even get a reply from EA regarding your case as I did.

So long story short. Do you part. Don’t get mad. File reports when you see cheaters. If nothing else, it will inform the EA Help Center and bring more awareness to issues we are seeing in our beloved games.
