Are you also concerned that the character names in the game are too limited and repetitive?
 
Yes? Yes?
 
 
I recently went through the game files and found that the names of the character players are chosen randomly from simple.txt list. Three total. Surnames, both male and female given names. I have decided to add some variety.
 
 
I tried to keep my names in the "Old English” spirit that inspired the originals. There are however some more modern names for flavor.
 
 
I have now completed the Surnames and Females. The next few days will see the addition of male given names.

File Directory

Or, you can right click Banners of Ruin within your games library and choose Manage -> Open Local Files
 
 
Navigate to Steam-> steamapps-> common-> BannersOfRuin
 
 
The files that you want to modify are below BannersOfRuin_Data-> StreamingAssets
 
 
 

Surnames

Open the file Surnames.txt, in the folder I mentioned.
 
 
Delete all entries. They are included and included.
 
 
Mark everything and copy it into the surnames.txt folder.
 
You can add any surnames that you like to see in game.
 
 
Be sure to The format should be the same. One name per line.
